Prescribed Provigil twice a day, including at night… does this seem right?

I was recently prescribed Provigil, but I didn’t actually see my sleep doctor I saw his assistant. One thing that worried me was that she didn’t seem sure whether Provigil was a stimulant or not😭She prescribed it twice a day: once in the morning and once at night. I’m confused because everything I’ve read makes it seem like taking it at night would keep me awake. I’m wondering if I should just take it in the morning instead, but I don’t want to ignore the prescription without talking to someone first. Has anyone else been told to take Provigil at night? Is there a reason for this, or does it sound like it could have been a mistake?

Rent stabilized railroad apartment in Park Slope ($1,400) landlord offering buyout, trying to understand value

I live in a rent-stabilized railroad apartment in Park Slope Brooklyn with a rent of about $1,400/month. The landlord is offering a buyout and I’m trying to get a realistic sense of what something like this is actually worth in today’s market before I even consider anything.
The apartment is a railroad layout with one legal master bedroom that has a window, and two interior rooms that don’t have windows that we currently use for storage. I also sleep in one of those windowless rooms. There’s a large living room and a long, spacious kitchen.
The landlord has been pushing for a buyout situation, but I’m not planning to leave unless it actually makes financial sense. I’m mainly trying to understand what similar rent stabilized units in Park Slope have realistically gone for in buyouts recently.

Looking for chest binders in Brooklyn

Hey everyone, I’m trying to find a place in Brooklyn where I can get a chest binder in person. I can’t really order online because of privacy at home, so I’m hoping there might be a shop, community center, or anywhere local that carries them.
It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just something safe and functional. If anyone knows spots in Brooklyn or nearby NYC where I could go, I’d really appreciate it.

Can Park Slope help find whoever tagged my dad’s restaurant, Kiosko 787?

Someone spray painted this red symbol/tag directly onto the Puerto Rican flag outside my dad’s restaurant, Kiosko 787, on Carroll Street. If anyone recognizes this tag or knows what it means, please let me know.
What makes it especially upsetting is that they could’ve tagged the wall or literally anywhere else, but instead chose to spray it right on the flag. It feels intentionally disrespectful.
If anyone in the area has seen this tag before or has any information, I’d really appreciate it!

Need help making a NYC railroad apartment more private/functional

Hi everyone, I’m looking for help with a really difficult NYC railroad apartment layout. I currently live with my grandparents because I can’t afford to move out right now, and the biggest issue is that my bedroom is basically a pass through room, so they have to walk through it to get to another part of the apartment, which has made privacy almost nonexistent and honestly has been really hard on me. I know railroad apartments are tricky and there may not be a perfect fix, but I’m wondering if there’s anything at all that could be done to make the layout more functional and private, whether that’s rearranging rooms, adding some kind of partition, or even making construction changes if it’s realistic since my dad is a contractor. I’m planning to attach the floor plan, and I’d really appreciate any ideas because I feel stuck and I’m hoping there’s some way to make this setup more livable.

(I have room 1, room 2 is storage and room 3 is my grandparents room)

MSLT showed 5.3 min sleep latency and 2 SOREMPs likely narcolepsy?

I’m trying to figure out if my sleep study results are pretty clearly pointing to narcolepsy or if this could still be something else. My overnight PSG was basically normal: total sleep time 447.5 minutes, sleep efficiency 95%, sleep latency 1.8 minutes, REM latency 60.5 minutes, AHI 0.3 (so basically no sleep apnea), oxygen averaged around 97% with a low of 94%, and no significant limb movement issues. The next-day MSLT showed a mean sleep latency of 5.3 minutes across 5 naps, and I had 2 SOREMPs. My nap sleep latencies were 8.7, 5.0, 6.0, 3.5, and 3.3 minutes, and REM sleep occurred in 2 naps. The report’s impression says the MSLT shows excessive daytime sleepiness and “could be consistent with narcolepsy under the appropriate clinical circumstances.” Based on these results alone, does this sound like a pretty straightforward narcolepsy diagnosis to you guys, or are there other common reasons someone could have an MSLT like this?

Finally completed my sleep study & MSLT

Just finished my MSLT at NYU Langone and honestly it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

The overnight study went pretty smoothly. The only thing that happened was around 4 AM my sleep tech had to wake me up because the nasal cannula had fallen out and needed to be put back in.

The MSLT itself was brutal. I had to do all 5 naps, and I remember dreaming during 2 of them. Staying awake between naps was genuinely torture. I don’t know what my results are yet, but I’m really hoping this finally gives me some answers. I’ve been dealing with this mystery sleep disorder and excessive daytime sleepiness for as long as I can remember, and it’s been miserable.

I also want to give a shoutout to NYU Langone’s sleep center. The wait was LONG (about a year for me), but my sleep tech was incredibly kind and took the time to explain everything that was happening throughout the study. He made a difficult experience a lot easier.

I’m currently getting tested for narcolepsy with a sleep study (MSLT) AMA

I’m at a sleep center right now doing a Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), which is used to help diagnose narcolepsy and other sleep disorders.

I had an overnight sleep study, then they woke me up at 6 AM. Now I have to stay awake for 2 hours, take a 20 minute nap, then repeat that cycle four more times throughout the day. As someone who’s constantly exhausted, it’s really rough

They’re looking to see how quickly I fall asleep and whether I enter REM sleep during the naps.

Keep me awake!

Should I take a job near 125th & Lex?

Native New Yorker here and I’m a teacher. There’s a school I really like that’s very close to 125th & Lexington, and I’m trying to decide if the location should be a dealbreaker.

I went on a school tour a few days ago and, while walking back to the train, some guy kept saying “miss, miss, miss, miss” to get my attention. I’m assuming he was asking for money. I ignored him and kept walking, and he left me alone. Other than that, nobody bothered me and nothing happened.

I know 125th & Lex has a reputation for not being the safest area, but realistically, if I took the job I’d just be going to work and then heading straight back to the train afterward. I wouldn’t be hanging around the neighborhood before or after work.

For context, I’m a woman in my 20s. I’m Puerto Rican but can pass as white if that matters at all.

Would you take a job there if you otherwise really liked the school, or is the location enough to make you look elsewhere?

Park Slope/Gowanus my dad’s Puerto Rican restaurant could use some love ❤️

My dad owns a small Puerto Rican restaurant in the Park Slope/Gowanus area called Kiosko 787, and things have been a bit tough lately. It’s a cozy spot serving authentic Puerto Rican food, and I genuinely think it’s one of the best in the neighborhood. Their mofongo is my absolute favorite highly recommend it and everything on the menu is made with a lot of care. If you’re looking for a great local place to eat, I’d really appreciate it if you stopped by and gave it a try. Supporting small family owned businesses like his really makes a difference.

Is it possible to live alone in NYC on $71k

I just got my first full time job making $71k and I’m trying to figure out if living alone in NYC is actually realistic on that salary. I currently live in Brooklyn with my grandparents, but I really want to move out and have my own space for independence.

I know NYC is expensive, so I’m trying to be realistic and not set myself up for something I can’t sustain. Is living alone here on that kind of income actually doable, or is it more of a roommate situation at this stage?

Bought a jacket 10 days ago, seller won’t ship or respond. What can I do?

I bought a jacket on Depop 9 days ago and the seller still hasn’t shipped it or responded to any of my messages asking for updates. Their profile says they’ve sold other items before, but they have no reviews. It also says they “often ship in 3 days.”

Is there anything I can do at this point? Should I wait longer or open a dispute/refund request?

I’m embarrassed to bring my girlfriend to my family’s tiny apartment and it’s affecting me badly (24/F, 24/F)

My girlfriend and I are both 24. I live in NYC with my grandparents in a really small railroad-style apartment, and honestly it’s been a huge source of embarrassment for me my whole life. The layout is bad for privacy my grandparents have to walk through my room to get to theirs and my “room” has no windows, so it feels dark and cave like all the time.

Because of it, I almost never invite friends over. I’ve always felt ashamed of where I live, even though I know housing in NYC is expensive and a lot of people live with family. But it still gets to me.

My girlfriend grew up completely differently. She lives in a beautiful house upstate with her own room, privacy, natural light, space, etc. I’m bringing her over tonight and I feel genuinely humiliated and anxious about what she’ll think. She’s never judged me before, but I can’t stop comparing our situations and feeling like less of an adult because of mine.

Has anyone else dealt with feeling ashamed of their living situation while dating someone whose life looks very different from yours?
