Will I be traveling overseas next month [astro-seek.com]?

Context: My family lives overseas while I currently live in the US. They have been pressuring me to go live with them overseas while I wait to hear back from fellowships for postdocs. However, I don’t want to since I’d have to be separated from my husband for an indefinite amount of time. I am a US citizen.

My interpretation: Sagittarius is rising, so I’m signified by Jupiter at 10° Leo in the 8th house. I’m taking the 9th house for international travel; the 9th cusp is in Leo, so the trip is signified by the Sun at 22° Leo, also in the 8th. Jupiter and the Sun are in the same sign, and Jupiter is in the Sun’s domicile, but I don’t think they perfect a conjunction because the Sun is faster and moving away from Jupiter. The Moon is at 20° Virgo in the 9th house, which seems to emphasize international travel, but I don’t see the Moon making an applying aspect that brings Jupiter and the Sun together. Since there doesn’t seem to be an applying aspect/perfection between me and the ruler of the 9th, I’m leaning no, although the Moon being in the 9th makes me unsure. Would you interpret this as the trip not happening, or am I missing something?

Places hiring immediately?

Hey everyone! I (29F) am looking for a part time job anywhere. I do have a part time job but I need a second one to work 40/50 hours a week. Do you know of any place hiring immediately? I’ve tried Mcdonald’s but they’ll only offer me overnight shifts, which doesn’t work out since I work morning shifts at my other job. I’m okay working evenings, just not until 5 am.

Is the worst of the heat over?

Is the worst of the heat over?

Yes, I moved here a year ago. I kind of remember it start getting a lot more comfortable outside around September last year. Based on the weather forecast, it seems like it’s 90s through this week, a couple low 100s, and then back to 90s again. Since it’s nearly September, is it okay to assume the worst of the heat is over? Does Phoenix typically have longer summers during El Nino years, or shorter summers?

Will I ever get a postdoc?

Context: I graduated from my PhD a few months ago. I’ve been trying to find a postdoc for months now, but I have yet to find one, mostly due to lack of funding from labs. I’m pretty desperate to find one.

My interpretation: Scorpio is rising, so I’m represented by Mars at 28° Gemini in the 8th house. The 10th house is Virgo, so I’m using Mercury at 28° Cancer as the significator for the postdoc/career. There isn’t an applying major aspect between Mars and Mercury, which initially makes me think the answer could be no. However, both Mars and Mercury are at late degrees and about to change signs, so I’m wondering whether this could indicate something? The Moon at 23° Gemini is applying to conjunct Mars before Mars changes signs. Mars is also currently in Mercury’s domicile, which I think shows my desperation to find a postdoc.

What do you think?

Will my husband and I be physically separated in the next few months? [astro-seek.com]

It’s a complicated situation but I’m currently living in the US with my husband. My parents, who live overseas, want me to come back to the middle east soon while I work things out to be able continue living in the US due to contractual obligations. Will I go back and be physically separated from my husband within the next few months?

Apparently I’m the reason my husband’s grandmother can’t pay her mortgage

Long story, but my husband and I (27M, 29F) moved in with my husband’s grandmother last year. This wasn’t supposed to be a permanent move at all but shit really hit the fan, and I can’t find a job for the life of me to be able to move out. I have $300 in my savings and $-230 in my checking and a $300 credit card payment due in a couple of days. My husband’s paycheck is also late. He only makes enough to pay our rent, groceries, and some bills. I’ve basically drained my savings to pay some of our bills so after this month, we’re royally screwed. I’ve tried applying for literally anything, even being the custodial person at In n Out and I get rejected for every single job. I don’t have a criminal history and I have a decent job history but nothing. Nada.

Also living there is my MIL. She doesn’t work or pay rent or anything. She forced my GMIL to move out of her marital home that was paid off!!! and get a new 30 year mortgage at the age of 75. She spends all of her money. She just took out $14k out of her stocks and spent most of it on Doordash, shopping, etc. Even my GMIL knows she’s being financially abused by my MIL but when APS is called, she just lies to protect my MIL. My MIL also has two paid off cars probably worth tens of thousands of dollars each, which my GMIL bought her.

Anyway, my GMIL is now knees deep in taxes. She can’t even afford to pay her mortgage this month. My husband and I are trying to contribute as much as we can but we’re trying our best. Anyway, my MIL is now saying that my “refusal” to get a job is going to make them lose the house. Not her not working. Not her refusing to sell either car of hers. Me. Mind you, I pay bills, buy my own groceries, hell buy groceries for the house using either money from my savings or money I make from Uber Eats. I literally don’t cost them a single dime, in fact my husband and I have saved them money by paying rent and household essentials.

And yes, my husband does defend me and points out how lazy his mother is, which is probably why she’s after me specifically.

Will I be able to come back to the US after 2 months if I go back to the middle east?

It’s a long complicated situation but I’m a dual citizen of the US and a middle eastern country. I have contractual obligations in the middle east but I could secure a position in the US if I go back and seek their permission (which could be likely if my dad pushes for it because he has connections). I also have money I need to get which could help my husband and I out a lot because we are struggling hard. My parents said it’ll take six weeks for the entire process but I’m worried they’re lying.

So from my understanding of the chart, my ascendant is in Aquarius which its ruler is Uranus in the 4th house. My 9th house is in Scorpio and Sagittarius, which its rulers are Pluto and Jupiter which are in the Aquarius in the 12th house and Jupiter in the 6th house. There’s a negative aspect between my 4th house and 12th house so the answer is no.

Please let me know your interpretations.

Go back to the middle east for money or stay in the US?

I (29F) am in a pretty tough predicament. I am a dual citizen with the US and a middle eastern country (not going to say which one). I was pretty much forced to take a scholarship from the ME country to go to college, on the basis they pay me a tuition and stipend and I work for them for 5 years. I also get a graduation bonus where they set aside 5% of my stipend each month, and I receive that saved money afterwards. I used this scholarship for my bachelors, masters, and PhD. If I don’t work inside the country, I have to repay back everything. It’s an insane amount. I didn’t initially want it but my dad said it was the only option for me to be able to go study in the US, despite me being a US citizen. Due to guardianship laws back then, I needed his permission to even leave the country but thats changed now.

I met my husband about 8 years ago and we got married last year. Our marriage is not recognized in the ME country since he is not muslim, and I can’t sponsor him for a visa anyway. He’d have to get a visa first for our marriage to be recognized. So it’s been tough to decide whether to go back since I graduated a few months ago, or stay in the US with my husband. I don’t want to be away from my husband at all but my dad cosigned the contract for the scholarship and the debt would be astronomical. Like they’d lose their house and my dad is extremely ill right now. He was recently hospitalized with a lung infection and his hands/feet keep swelling up. He’s in and out of the hospital doing tests. The last thing he needs is financial worries.

However, a loophole my parents have suggested is a postdoc. I’ve had a couple people say they’d be willing to work with me if I secure funding. My parents say they can probably push for the postdoc to be accepted and I can continue being in the US. However, they’re saying I need to come back for six weeks so I can get my graduation bonus and get the approval for the postdoc. My husband and I desperately need the bonus because we’ve been having a lot of financial troubles since we’re now depending on his income alone. I can’t even get a job at Mcdonald’s. It would help us out a lot. I’d be getting at least $20k if not more. Plus, we’re dealing with some drama with my in laws. We currently live with them in my grandmother in law’s house and she’s knees deep in debt with the IRS. My MIL also lives there, doesn’t work, and is blaming me for their financial problems. If I get this bonus and the postdoc secured, it would help my husband and I out ALOT.

I’m just scared about leaving and not being able to come back. I went back last year for 3 months and it was miserable without my husband. My dad also withheld my passport from me until I was able to have an “excuse” to come back to the US. He said it was because he didn’t want people stealing my passport since they have cleaners come to the house, but still it’s worrying. Also, there’s the whole war. My parents live like 20 minutes from a US air base and they had tons of missiles being intercepted over them in March. However, going back gives us money and the possibility of a secure job in the US.

I’m just confused. My main worry is being away from my husband for so long, or being stuck there without him. Or being stuck in a war zone. Or not getting the postdoc funding. But we desperately need that money and the job. My husband says to go back for a little bit, get the money and the postdoc since staying her gives me a zero chance possibility. What should I do?

TLDR; I need help choosing between staying in the US with my husband, or going back to the middle east to get some money and potentially funding for a postdoc.

Husband fell in shower but doesn’t feel pain in his head -should we still go to the ER?

My husband (27M, no conditions and no medication) fell in the shower like 30 minutes ago. He was able to get himself up and out of the shower (I didn’t know until afterwards), he is awake and speaking normally, and is reporting no pain in his head or neck. I’m trying to get him to go to the ER or urgent care but he’s refusing to do so. Is it ok to wait? I’m worried he has a concussion.

ETA: He says he hurt his back (which he has bruises) but not his head.

An appreciation post to the local libraries here

I just wanted to post an appreciation the the local libraries in the Phoenix metro. My husband and I have been struggling lately but the libraries have been such a good resource for providing affordable entertainment that it’s insane. The book selection is amazing with so many good books available, and the DVD selection is insane to me. Like Severance and Game of Thrones? Not to mention the culture passes that are available. Or the free seeds.

Idk I moved here from Orange County a year ago, and while the local libraries were beautiful (don’t get me started on the Cherry Blossoms), the libraries here are just superior to me. It’d be impossible to get any good books since everything was on hold for 6 months or more. It was hard to secure culture passes as well. I don’t think you can get seeds either but I could be wrong.

Anyway, I’ve been going to the library every day to do some work and I gain so much appreciation for the libraries each time. Please take advantage of your local library!! My biggest fear is the defunding of libraries.

I haven’t had discharge since I was a teenager

I (29F) haven’t had discharge since I was a teenager. I used to get really clumpy discharge, as well as creamy discharge, when I was younger but that seemed to have stopped by the time I was in high school. It wasn’t really something I thought about until I noticed a comment on saying that no discharge is something that needs to be looked at by a doctor (I don’t have insurance lol).

Is it that bad to not have any discharge at all? I do have regular periods and don’t really have any other symptoms besides the lack of discharge. I’m not on birth control but used to have the implant, the copper IUD, and was on the mini pill Errin until recently.

JNMIL is convinced we’re going to move with her to the middle of nowhere

I’m more laughing at this and just need to rant about the absurdity of her believing this.

My husband and I have been living with my in laws for a year. I was finishing up my PhD and lost my stipend, and since we couldn’t afford living on my husband’s income alone, my husband’s grandmother asked us to move in with her. It was supposed to be a temporary situation until I get another job, but this job market has been terrible especially for my field due to funding being pulled. I can’t even get hired at Mcdonalds or Walmart. I’ve been having to do Uber Eats and Instacart to help have additional income.

Living there is my husband’s grandmother (GMIL) and my MIL. GMIL owns the house and pays the mortgage using her SSI. It’s a long story but my MIL basically forced GMIL to buy a new house a few years ago, and made her buy a house that was way too overpriced. She does not work (my husband said she never worked when he was a kid either) and doesn’t do any chores in the house. I do most of the chores except picking up the dog poo in the backyard, which she has to announce to the world that she had to pick up her dog’s poo like we’re forcing her to do the most unbelievable chores imagineable. She just sits in her room (the master bedroom despite being the only person who doesn’t contribute financially to the household) and watches TV, and then gets mad at my GMIL for doing the exact same thing despite the fact that she’s 77 and not able bodied. I hate living here.

Anyway, there’s some personal reasons why my GMIL needs to sell the house and get a cheaper place to live. She can’t afford all the bills, even with our rent to help out with bills. My MIL wants her to buy yet another property with a 30 year mortgage (at 77!!) but this time in the middle of nowhere where properties are like $100k so they have more money. However, she insists on us moving with her. She didn’t say it outright but she talks about getting a place with a lot of acreage so we can put our own mobile homes on it, or somewhere with a finished basement for my husband and I to live in while she lives in the main house. And I know it’s because she wants us to pay for the mortgage once GMIL passes because realistically, she isn’t living to 107 years old. She’s too ill. And its not like I’m opposed to living with her to help her out, but she’s insistent we live in the middle of nowhere to buy a bigger house for way cheaper, places with no jobs around. Places like Henry, TN, and when we bring up that there’s no jobs, her response is “well can’t you drive???”. She wants full control of everything while we pay for it and do all the chores for her.

Anyway, it’s just laughable to me. It’s probably the most delusional thing my MIL has said since I met my husband 8 years ago. She genuinely believes we’ll move to the middle of nowhere to be her farm hands while we pay a mortgage for a house we don’t own. Hopefully I get this job I applied for that will allow us to move out. My network has high hopes. And yes, I do know my MIL is financially abusing my GMIL but she’s been reported 5 times and the state doesn’t do anything, and my GMIL defends her. There isn’t much I can do.

Why would the tread on my tires deteriorate so quickly?

I took my 2022 Honda Civic to the dealership for regular maintenance in Feb 2026. At the time, it had 38k miles on it. The dealership said my tires looked good, and said each of them had 6/32 tread on them.
A couple days ago, I took it to an auto shop for an oil change and tire rotation. They told me they wouldn’t perform the tire rotation as my tires needed to be replaced, with one having 2/32 tread and 3/32 on the rest of them. They also sent photos of the tires showing they did need to be replaced. My car has 40,280 miles at the time I took it in.

I just don’t get why my tires would deteriorate so quickly? It’s only been 2k miles and I only do city/suburban driving so no dirt roads or gravel. I did recently move to Phoenix so would the heat cause them to deteriorate that quickly?

Also, I’m not a car person so forgive me if it sounds like I know nothing about what I’m saying because I don’t lol.

When is the appropriate time to follow up about a zoom meeting?

I cold emailed a potential PI for a postdoc, someone whom 2 other people have recommended I talk to. I emailed them earlier this month and they told me they’d be out of office until the 17th, and they’re happy to talk afterwards. It’s only the 20th but should I follow up to set up a meeting? Or wait a couple more days to follow up on the email I sent on the 2nd?

Best place to get affordable tires?

I have a 2022 Honda Civic, and I was told I needed new tires when I went to get a tire rotation. They quoted me $672 for Goodyear tires but thats way out of my budget.

Is there any place that’s reliable and won’t try to up charge me? I know there’s more affordable tires out there but I also don’t want to be cheap and get something that isn’t good, or go somewhere that won’t install them properly. Any recommendations?

Questions about Taylor’s DCFS case

I do not have kids so I’m not really aware or educated on custody or DCFS cases. From my understanding, Taylor and Dakota court sessions that were aired were occurring in family court, which is why it was public. However, DCFS has now filed a petition to move to juvenile court, which is private?

I guess my main question is that if the case has now been moved to juvenile court, will the judge be taking Taylor’s violations of Dakota PO against her much more seriously? Would that even be something brought up in court? As well, if she is now been given supervised visitation with all of her kids, would the person supervising be court appointed, or could she use Liann or Aspen as she did when she had supervised visitation with Ever? And thirdly, can they still use the private GAL that Dakota didn’t pay or would it be a court appointed GAL? Idk, I began thinking that Dakota didn’t pay the GAL because his lawyer knew that something like this was going to be filed in court but I could be wrong.

What were the books you had to read in high school?

I am American but I lived overseas as a kid, and I went to an “American” high school which I think was just American in name only. Most of my teachers were British too. Anyway, the education was terrible and we barely read any books. All we read throughout high school was Great Expectations, Hamlet, Taming of the Shrew, and some of Pride and Prejudice before the teacher got fired. We didn’t even read any books in 10th grade lol. I had to take it upon myself to read books like Catcher in the Rye and Lord of the Flies in my free time so I’d be prepared for college. It always blows my mind when I see people mention reading Kafka, Steinbeck, or even Homer for their English class in high school.

Will I get a postdoc after my interview on Friday?

Context: I graduated from my PhD a few months ago and have been struggling to get a job or a postdoc. I have a meeting/interview with a potential PI and I’m really hoping this might lead to a postdoc.

Interpretation: Bear with me because I’m new to this. My significator is Jupiter, which is in Virgo at 11 degrees. My 10th house is ruled Mercury. There are no aspects so the answer is a no?

Cramping near healing dog bite?

I (29F, 5’1, 121 lbs, no medications) was bit by a French Bulldog about 2 weeks ago. I went to the doctor and he prescribed me a weeks worth of Amoxicillan. The bruising has gone away and the punctured have closed but there’s still a bump where the bite occurred. As well, I’ll get a lot of painful cramping where the dog bite occurred. Is this normal? I don’t have health insurance and don’t wan to pay for a doctor’s visit if its not needed.

I added a photo of my arm after it healed.

Best public library in terms of selection and availability of books?

I really want to get back into reading but books are way too expensive right now. I’m currently in Surprise and have been using the Surprise Public Library to grab books to read. While it’s been great, I’ve noticed that a lot of the books I want to read are usually always borrowed. I was wondering if it’s true for all the libraries across the valley, or if some have more funding and thus a wider selection of books available?
