CZ82 Jamming Update

In a previous post I had jamming as shown in the photo. Initially was worse than this so replaced the recoil spring and polished the ramp and barrel entry. Helped quite a bit but still was jamming once or so a mag.

Finally got some new Geko ammo (vs reloads) and quickly cleaned and polished the firing pin area just before i ran out to the range. Ran about five mags of ammo both new and reloads and only had one jam so looks like it was the dirty firing pin area. Will more do a more thorough cleaning. Thanks to ColtBTD for the suggestion.

Also so happy to have an inexpensive local private range membership (rare in CA) where I can just run over for an hour or so and fire off a dozen mags and skidaddle.

Best Water Softener Resellers?

I have an old Rayne RR-1500 1.5 CF 45K Grain rental and a purchased replacement from Rayne would be a Warrior 1500 48K but it runs, ouch, $3.4K.

From what I've seen a Fleck 5600sxt or clack ws1 based system with similar specs would be a good choice.

I want something metered, separate square brine tank and a unit that will keep the settings & clock during power outages (the current Rayne does not and have to reset the clock every time). Something like this would be a drop in replacement.

I've seen some favorable posts about Affordablewater.us that they have good service and support and a 5600sxt 48K grain with above features runs $800-900. Any others resellers to consider?

Best Water Softener Online Resellers?

I have an old Rayne RR-1500 1.5 CF 45K Grain rental and a purchased replacement from Rayne would be a Warrior 1500 48K but it runs, ouch, $3.4K.

Been told previously the much less expensive and most cost effective replacement would be a fleck 5600sxt or clack ws1 based system with similar specs but there's loads of resellers out there.

So, question is, what's a reliable on-line reseller for that Fleck or Clack based system that has good shipping and support. Should be a snap to install since so not worried about that just want the separate brine tank and metered system like the Rayne plus one that will maintain settings & clock through power outages.

Six years to rebuild a single home...

https://www.ksbw.com/.../santa-cruz-county.../73300486...

This is supposed to be some huge triumph that they got one home rebuilt?? The county officials & politicians should be ashamed of themselves that it takes an army of people and 6 years to rebuild one single home. The cost was likely astronomical as well. Anywhere else in the country it's about a year or so to build a home.

In the meantime, they're throwing up multistory apartments all over SC like there's no tomorrow...

Continued Jamming CZ82

Posted about a month ago about my CZ82 jamming every few rounds but it was jamming with the slide just about fully retracted
(OP here: https://www.reddit.com/r/makarov/comments/1u5zubr/jamming_cz82/ )

Per suggestions, replaced the recoil spring with a 16lb Wolff (the OEM 14lb is backordered). Took it out today and still jamming but it's jamming with the slide forward partway now and the round jammed going into the feed ramp/chamber. Inconsistent when it does jam , sometimes a couple in a row, sometimes can fire off a few before it jams again.

Mags were ultrasonic cleaned but original mag springs and still running the same ammo reloads (still working on getting some new or new surplus ammo).

Suggestions?

Btw, just picked up a CZ70 and FEG PA-63 and took those out today also. Just did a cleaning and both of them run just fine even though the 70 recoil sprig looked kind of wonky...

Bought ammo at an actual store....

Haven't set foot in a store to buy ammo in a year but needed a box of 32 auto for a new piece before my online order arrives.

Was near the SJ Bass Pro so dropped in there. A $30 box turned into a $41 box with the 21% tax plus the $5 fee. Crazy... Only positive is BP ammo & gun counter wasn't a shitshow for a Friday at lunchtime and was in & out in like 10 minutes.

Pick up a CZ 70?

I own a CZ 75B, but do quite like the vintage handguns mainly for range use and also own a CZ 82, FEG PA-63 and Beretta M1934. Would love a Walther PP 32 but those are a bit pricey and hard to find here in CA with the roster but I do have my C&R/FFL03.

I see some CZ 70's at places like J&G and Aim for like $250, thought it might be a fun piece to pick up...

Transferring Firearms from CA to Upstate NY?

Actually posting for my friend as I reside in CA and had this conversation with my NY friend I was visiting this week...

When he lived in San Jose, he had a few Glocks, a pistol grip shotgun and one other long gun. He got married, eventually moved to NY, residing upstate in Delaware County.

At the time he moved, he left all his firearms with his friend in CA and the firearms are still there. Is it possible to transfer his firearms from CA to NY (besides the shotgun)?

Does he need to get his Delaware County hsndgun permit first and then have a CA FFL ship them to a NY FFL or is it just a gigantic hassle/cost to get them here and better if he sells them in CA?

After looking at some of the NY laws, it's even worse than CA here...

CA ID Verification Fails

Tried several times to get my CA drivers license into the wallet but verification failed every time. Proper lighting with dark background.

Did ID Pass with my US passport and that verified no problem on first try.

Other tips for getting the verification to work?

DS1513+ Replacement?

I've had a DS1513+ with five WD40EFRX drives for ages and it's been rock solid. However, I'm starting to run out of space and would be nice to eventually move up to 2.5G or 10G network.

Any recs on what unit to bump up to? Would probably want to stick with 5 or 6 bay.

As far as drives, is WD red still pretty good or should I look at others. And where is a good place to shop for drives (and the NAS for that matter).

Hwy 9 NorCal

More enforcement along Hwy 9 in Santa Clara/Santa Cruz Counties, first vehicle in the series of CHP pictures. Don't know how long it will last but three kids died last weekend when their 2024 M3 went off a 300 ft cliff. A weekend before that, a motorcyclist slammed into a tree and died.

So just a quick PSA - I commuted this road for almost 40 years, 18 of them in a '90 325i Cabrio. It's a hella fun road to drive but please, it's not a racetrack and don't drive like an asshole. It's unforgiving if you make a high speed mistake like those kids did last weekend.

Rayne Softeners?

I've had a Rayne water softener rental unit for many years and it's been pretty trouble free but thinking of buying a new one so we don't have to continue paying a monthly fee.

Rayne is local and their service has been fine (they come out every year and do a service on it) so thinking about just buying one from them. Any thoughts on the newer Rayne units?

For the record, we have very hard community well water, around 20-25 gpg and a small home with just two people. Water is otherwise treated at the well and otherwise fine except for the hardness.

Any NE/Eastern PA Gun Stores with decent selection of C&R?

Traveling from out of state to my hometown in NE PA for a couple of weeks in July and always like to go browse some shops while visiting other states. Particularly interested in any shops that might have decent used selections, particularly anything 20th century C&R (1976 or older), as I have an FFL03.

Any suggestions on shops? I'll be in mainly in the Pocono, Hazleton, Wilkes Barre, Scranton, and Allentown areas.

1908 380 Nickel Value?

I own a M1934 and been looking to get another 380 piece. Came across this 1908 380 on a local board but don't know enough about them as far as pricing. He said it was manufactured in 1921 according to his research and believes the finish is original. He's asking $1K.

Thoughts about value of this?
