How do you even find a life partner at this age, if you live in a small town? I'm honestly thinking of giving up. (M31)
I genuinely don't know what I'm supposed to do anymore.
I live in a tier-3 town in India, and the opportunities to meet new people are almost nonexistent. Unlike people in metro cities, there aren't many social events, hobby groups, or dating opportunities here. Whatever little dating scene exists is mostly college students, and I'm not comfortable dating someone who's 5-6 years younger than me.
Just to clarify, interacting with women isn't the problem. I had a long-term girlfriend during college, so I'm not someone who's afraid to talk to women or has never been in a relationship. The problem is that I simply don't meet any women around my age anymore.
I spent the prime years of my 20s preparing for government exams. Like many aspirants, I isolated myself for years. Most of my old friends have moved away, gotten married, or we've simply lost touch. My social circle has practically disappeared.
My job also doesn't help. It's not the kind where you meet lots of new people or make new friends. I work, come home, and that's pretty much my routine. There are no office outings, no big colleague circles, nothing.
People always say, "Go out and meet people." But where? I go to cafés, parks, malls, gyms, bookstores, etc., and I mostly see college students, families, or people already in their own groups. Walking up to strangers isn't really a thing in India, especially in a small town.
Then there's arranged marriage.
That has been even more discouraging.
I'm not looking for dowry. I don't expect the girl's family to spend money on the wedding. In fact, I'd prefer a simple, small ceremony. Financially, I'm doing okay. We own our own two-story house, I have a good-paying job, and although I'm not a permanent government employee, I've been working in the same field for almost 10 years. I have enough experience and skills that I could find work elsewhere if needed.
Yet almost every arranged marriage conversation seems to revolve around wanting someone earning ₹1 lakh+ per month, preferably working in a metro city, or someone with a permanent government job. It feels like the moment people hear "not permanent," the conversation is over, regardless of everything else.
Sometimes it feels like all the advice online is written for people living in big cities with active social lives. "Join clubs." "Go to meetups." "Use dating apps." None of those things really work where I live. Dating apps have very few active users here, and many profiles are either inactive or hundreds of kilometers away.
At this point, I'm honestly wondering if I've simply missed the boat.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Especially people from small towns who had limited social circles and weren't naturally outgoing.
How did you actually meet your partner?
I'm not looking for motivational quotes or "it'll happen when you least expect it." I'm genuinely looking for practical advice from people who have been through this. If you were in a similar situation, what changed things for you?
Because right now, I'm honestly starting to think about giving up.
Building gets progressively worse as they go down the stairwell after earthquake in Venezuela today
I'm trying to record my teaching sessions and upload them to YouTube so they'll be available for free to students.
The problem is that I don't just second-guess myself after recording, I start second-guessing myself while recording.
I often watch it back/during recording, I think, "I could explain this topic better." Maybe I come up with a new analogy, a different example, or a completely different way of approaching the concept.
For example, halfway through a lesson I'll suddenly think:
This slide could be designed better. I should use a different example. Maybe I should reorganize the topic entirely. This explanation works, but another approach might be better.
Then I stop, edit the slides, change images, add text, rewrite parts of the lesson, and start recording again. Before long, I get another idea and repeat the process.
What's interesting is that I don't have this problem when teaching live in a classroom. There, I can see whether students are understanding or not. If they're confused, I naturally switch approaches, give another example, or explain from a different perspective. The lesson evolves based on real feedback.
With recorded teaching, there is no feedback. Because of that, I keep wondering whether the current explanation is really the best one possible. It feels like I can always improve the content, slides, examples, or structure before publishing.
As a result, I spend far more time revising and re-recording than actually publishing lessons.
Have any teachers or educational content creators dealt with this? How do you know when to stop improving a lesson and just publish it? How do you avoid getting trapped in endless optimization when creating recorded content?
Not working with drawing tablet
Tried using a Huion draw tab H950P with onenote
it completely bugs out once I click with the pen (on select mode, drawing works until I use the eraser). It's almost like it gets stuck clicking down, making the program completely unusable until I alt-tab.
Tried both drivers
- Driver_15.7.6.1858 Date of Upgrade: 2025-07-15 Download
- Windows Driver_15.7.6.1314 Date of Upgrade: 2024-07-05 Download
I've tried the obvious fixes to no avail, including using a separate draw tab.
Saw similar two-year-old post in this sub but there were no solutions, Any ideas?
Epic Pen is not as smooth as OneNote for handwriting. What alternatives should I try?
I'm a teacher and need screen annotation software for Windows. I use a Wacom tablet and often need to write with thin pen strokes while teaching.
I've tried Epic Pen, ppInk, and a few other tools, but they all seem to have the same issue: the ink looks jagged and not as smooth as handwriting in OneNote. With thinner pen settings, the problem becomes even more noticeable.
OneNote's pen feels much smoother and more natural, but I need an annotation tool that can write directly over any application or screen.
I there any Windows annotation software that offers handwriting quality similar to OneNote, especially when using a Wacom tablet like tablet?
Thanks!
Converted my OnePlus neckband into wired headphones.
I had a 3.5mm jack lying around. The neckband's battery was dead, and when I took it to a repair shop, they said the motherboard or circuit was also faulty.
So, I decided to open the earbuds at home, and I found some sticky liquid oozing out everywhere, even on the wires of the earbuds. I have no idea what it was.
I drained it out and then used ChatGPT along with some trial and error to fix it, and voila! I now have functional wired headphones.
I realize the wire length is short, but it works well enough for me, and I didn't have any extra wire available.

organiser.org30M, getting married later this year. Looking for advice on how I should approach savings, emergency funds, and investing given my situation.
Current situation:
- Marriage planned this year
- Savings: ₹2.5 lakh in FD (that's basically all my savings)
- Own house, no rent
- Live in a Tier-3 city
- Monthly household expenses: around ₹10,000–15,000
- Family: Me, mother, and father. I am the only earning member.
- No other family income.
Employment:
I work as a lecturer on a contract basis, which means my income is quite irregular. The job is not permanent but it's not like I'll be fired abruptly.
- Some months I earn around ₹55,000
- Other months, only ₹25,000
- Payments are not consistent or fixed
- Sometimes I receive my salary the following month
- Occasionally, payments for 2–3 months come together
- No PF, pension, gratuity, medical insurance, or other employment benefits
- Preparing for govt. job on side.
Why my savings are low:
I know that many people my age have significantly larger savings. Unfortunately, over the years, I've faced various personal and family responsibilities that have taken up most of my earnings. I'm not making excuses, just clarifying why I'm starting almost from scratch at 30.
Future plans:
I'm thinking about launching a coaching or consultancy business in the next few months. However:
- I'll need to make an initial investment
- Income will probably be low at first
- It might take a few years to stabilize
My questions:
- Considering my irregular income, how much should I set aside in emergency funds before I start investing?
- Should I keep adding to FDs or begin SIPs right away?
- How can I financially prepare for my marriage?
- What percentage of income should someone with an unstable job aim to save?
- What financial pitfalls should I steer clear of in my situation?
- If you were in my shoes, what would your financial roadmap look like for the next 3–5 years?
I'm looking for practical advice rather than aggressive wealth-building strategies. My main focus is on stability, family security, and establishing a good financial base from which I can somewhat grow.
Is it just me, or does it seem like Maharashtra is missing out on many significant new industrial investments lately?
Whenever there’s news about semiconductors, EV battery plants, electronics manufacturing, AI hubs, and so on, it appears that another state is securing the project, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, UP, and others. Maharashtra used to be seen as the go-to industrial powerhouse, but it no longer seems to be making headlines in the same way.
Are there any major upcoming developments in Maharashtra that I might be overlooking?
I would appreciate it if you could share your thoughts on:
Major ongoing or upcoming investments
Future-oriented sectors (AI, semiconductors, EVs, green energy, aerospace, robotics, data centers, manufacturing, etc.)
Projects that could provide long-term job security and boost Maharashtra’s GDP
It's a genuine discussion, don't make it political please.
Thinking of Starting an Online Teaching Business, Anyone Here Used Classplus?
myquals : lecturer with 8+ yrs of experience
I’m considering launching an online teaching or coaching business and have been exploring platforms that allow you to create your own branded app. I recently discovered one and wanted to see if anyone here has real experience with it.
classplusapp
How does it perform in terms of:
- ease of setup for beginners
- student management
- live classes and recorded lectures
- payment collection
- app stability and bugs
- customer support
- hidden costs or commissions
- long-term scalability
Most of the reviews I’ve found online seem either excessively positive or promotional, so I’m seeking genuine feedback from those who have actually utilized it for their coaching or teaching business.
Did it truly assist you in growing, or would you suggest opting for something else instead?
I would particularly value insights from small independent teachers or coaching classes that started from the ground up. Thank you! I already have a student base+marketing strategy/connection to expand. I am only expecting a good customer support from the app creators.
Is WhatsApp spying on my personal conversations?
My friend and I were discussing a Scopus indexed journal publication, and later in the evening, I noticed a status advt. about it. The interesting part is that we never searched for it online; we simply shared the direct link with each other as it was provided by our guide.
