Fed up of people calling Peripheral GMCs as Sh*t and Tier xyz on this sub !

I'm genuinely curious, what 'special' clinical skills do the so called Top Private Medical colleges teach to their MBBS kids ?

I'm currently pursuing internship from a Peripheral GMC ! I don't know the condition in so called top Private colleges but atleast in Peripheral GMC , Interns are given enough hands-on !

If I talk about my college -

• Enough hands on to manage evening Medicine OPDs independently ( as there's no PG seats in Medicine and SRs & consultants usually don't come to evening OPDs )

• Enough hands on to manage many cases in Central emergency independently like snake /Scorpion bite, CAD etc ( Usually at night shifts, JRs and POD leave early / not present at late night )

• Enough hands on to do Normal Vaginal delivery, Ascitic tapping, Episiotomy and its suturing and a few other procedure independently

I was even made to suture mucosa after Episiotomy and how to double check for any empty spaces left

( Agreed that infrastructure and facilities in Peripheral GMCs are not at par )

As Dr. Amrit Nasta is trending on this sub lately

As Dr Amrit Nasta is trending on this sub lately, which had to happen someday as he's been underrated (underdog) for a long time

I believe he genuinely deserves all the hype and limelight

BUT !

The notes man ! Cerebellum academy genuinely needs to work on it. The notes suck

Half of the informations aren't written in the notes. It takes a lot of time to annotate them. Be it of Surgery or Pharmacology

Faculty wise , Dr Amrit Nasta >> You know who

Notes wise , You know what >> Cerebellum

Massive blood Transfusion causes Acidosis or Alkalosis as a complication?

Shouldn't it be 'Lethal triad of Trauma ' instead of Lethal trial of Massive transfusion?

No way these errors could be mere typos ! Looks 10/10 intentional

While the faculty clearly dictated that we always do vertical incision in chalazion as Horizontal incision destroys a lot of glands, the notes still mentioned Horizontal incision as the management

Mentioning exactly opposite things in notes looks so intentional. Anyone who's just reading the notes, be it of any platform, kindly be extra cautious

The 'Pawar' who actually deserves some attention - Dr Pradeep Pawar

The way, Dr Pradeep Pawar has taught entire Anatomy, especially Neuroanat, that too neural column is commendable

Gives you the rationale behind it rather than simply making you mug up things

I've previously done Anatomy from Dr Rajesh Kaushal and Dr Ashwani Kumar in my 1st year. While I liked them too, Dr Pradeep hit a little different, conceptual yet simple

Would highly recommend to anyone Struggling in Anatomy

( Dr Ashwini teaches good and conceptually but I feel , at times, I understand things well in his diagrams but fail to imagine how exactly is it arranged/ present in human body which I believe is a crucial aspect of understanding Anatomy )

Which personality trait do you relate to the most ?

While reading Psychiatry, I realised that most of us can relate to certain traits of one personality disorder or another, to an extent

And almost inevitably, there is always someone be it a friend, a colleague, or even an ex-partner, who comes to mind when we read about a particular personality pattern.

Not as a label, but as a reminder of how complex human behaviour really is

3A/3B ! What should I do to keep my hair off my face ? I've an imp exam ( NEET PG ) in 3 months

Currently, I wear a Hair band but I've an important exam ( NEET PG ) in 3 months and they don't really allow hair bands inside the exam hall !

Without hair band, the hair comes over my face and it is obviously kinda inconvenient. I'm in no mood to get a haircut ( have been growing my hair for the past 11 months )

Any help / advice would be appreciated

Turns out, it wasn’t as complicated as some teachers made it look 🫯

Would rather say, It's simple and easy ! Got to understand it finally today XD

This topic bugged me a lot in the final year !

Tried all platforms for Ophthal !

Ophthal ! The dreaded subject that requires a lot of imagination and decent physics. Tried all the platforms that were available during my 3rd year !

Here are my 2 cents -

  1. Started with Dr Niha Aggarwal from DBMCI. The way she taught Astigmatism, esp WTR and ATR, confused me like anything !

  2. Shifted to DAMS, Dr Saurabh. He teaches good but skips many topics / informations which is relevant for exams and covered by all the other faculties . Even superficially touched some difficult topics (idk why )

  3. Marrow : Dr Utsav Bansal. His Neurophthal and Glaucoma are TOP NOTCH ! But totally slacked in Cornea and few other topics. At one point, he just opened the pre-made table of Corneal dystrophy from some book and was simply reading the lines ( without even explaining what Dystrophy actually is )

  4. Prepladder : Dr Ruchi touch basics superficially. Difficult to understand for first timer

  5. Dr Rajarathana : I finally switched to her. She made it conceptual and palatable ( Apart from Glaucoma, where Dr Utsav Bansal absolutely slayed ) leading to minimal mugging up. Her Astigmatism (or rather complete refraction), Retina, cornea are all taught conceptually

Although she taught Squint decently ( Park 3 step was the best) but she skipped some topics in squint like cover - uncover test, Direct cover test, tests of restrictive squint etc

TL;DR -

Dr. Rajarathana ≥ Dr Utsav ( Neurophthal, Glaucoma ) > Dr. Saurabh > Rest

Is anyone willing to share ( or sell ) their digitally annotated main notes of Pathology (Prep) ?

I've watched Main lectures of Pathology prepladder twice but didn't annotate either time

Now I'm kinda short on time. If someone is up to share or sell their digitally annotated notes of Prepladder Pathology, kindly let me know

Thanks.

Underestimated the dude !

I was really reluctant in the beginning as he is new to this teaching line, if it would be good idea to study from him !

But man, the way he delivered concepts is commendable ! Got done with Pedia and loved every bit of it !

His famous line “If studying from me doesn’t give you those little insider, AIIMS exclusive details that are likely to come in the exam, then what’s the point of studying from me?”
