Why is treating women as human beings with choices still a debate for some?

It is deeply troubling to see posts like this online. We must address the mindset that treats women as property rather than individuals with their own choices, desires, and agency. No community or individual owns anyone.

Targeting or disrespecting women from any specific group is unacceptable and it reinforces harmful prejudices. When the dignity of one group of women is compromised, it threatens the freedom and respect of all women. True progress means challenging the mindset and advocating for an environment where every person's choices and autonomy are fully respected.

Isn't it contributing to r*pe culture?

Look at this video; it shows how our country is living across two completely opposite spectrums. In places like Delhi, there are women protesting, marching, and speaking out against patriarchy and misogyny while demanding women's empowerment. There are women and men working hard day and night, alongside people protesting and striving to build a better society. Yet, on the other hand, we have individuals like this—just look at these people. Doesn't this kind of behavior contribute to rape culture?

Furthermore, this is not something limited only to specific areas. The exact same thing happens in colleges, college fests, and freshers' parties—especially within colleges and universities in tier 2 and tier 3 cities. People make vulgar jokes, and these functions are filled with songs that objectify women. When women dance, they are subjected to the male gaze; their moves and videos are circulated and discussed in boys' group chats. Concurrently, women's DMs and Instagram profiles are flooded by boys. Doesn't all of this directly contribute to rape culture?

Is ideology above human empathy? Why are people not talking about this?

Yesterday, I came across this news (JNU Professor Accused Of Harassment, Offered Extra Marks For Sexual Favours) and noticed a complete lack of discussion surrounding it. Some right-wing-leaning X (formerly known as Twitter) accounts claim that the professor is a member of a national party. One of the most frustrating aspects of the Indian political and social system is how the most vocal people stay silent when an offender shares their ideology, simply to prevent the opposing side from gaining political gain. If this pattern continues, how can we expect victims to find the courage to come forward and report misconduct?

We must rise above politics and ideology and find the strength to oppose wrongdoing, regardless of the perpetrator's ideological alignment. An offender is an offender no matter what, even if they belong to our side. Unfortunately, the silence is relatively similar to the typical Indian mindset of “ghar ki izzat ki baat hai”(protecting the family's honor). Many people, especially women, place their trust in the left wing, believing it offers a better alternative to them. Is this how we are going to smash patriarchy or dismantle misogyny?

This is not an isolated incident; there have been prior instances where left-leaning individuals admitted to staying quiet about misconduct because the accused belonged to a minority community. This selective outrage (both from the left and from the right) is becoming a recurring pattern. I really want to ask: what are your thoughts on this silence from the left and from the mainstream media? Do people look at oppressed people only as props to be used for their personal and ideological benefit?

Seeking Expert Advice: Looking for signs of relocation and career fame in my chart

Hi everyone, I am writing this post because I would love to get some insight from the experts here regarding my birth chart.

I currently live in a very beautiful place and I truly love my hometown, but I constantly feel like I don't belong here. I have a strong urge to live in a big city like Delhi. Back when I was a kid in the 7th or 8th grade, my dream was to visit Mumbai. Now, I have a deep desire to settle abroad and study/teach at a foreign university. What specific placements, houses, or planets should I look for in my astrology chart to see if I will be able to achieve this relocation?

Additionally, I would like to know what to check in my chart regarding my career and fame. My goal is to become a writer and an academic focusing on topics like gender issues, capitalism, and cultural theory. I want to reach a point in my career where I am sharing my ideas with a massive audience. What indicators should I look for in my chart to see if this path and level of recognition are in my future? Thank you!

23M, Let's try to make life little easy for each other!

I am a 23M literature student interested in philosophy, psychology, cultural studies, and online brainrot content. I am highly career-centered and looking for someone who shares that same drive. I also love watching movies and TV series.Even if we don’t end up dating, I am completely open to becoming really good, close friends. I know how flooded women's DMs get because of predators/creeps online, so I believe the best way to connect with genuine people is for men to put themselves out here and let women approach them.

I think social media, internet, and phones have made it a little difficult to find genuine connections, even though it has made us available with a lot of choices.I am looking for someone to talk to, and I really like talking daily over text or phone calls. At the same time, I understand that we need to focus on our work, college, office, and career, so there is absolutely no pressure or expectation to be glued to your phone continuously. We can share reels, memes, and things we find interesting, discuss books, and talk about our favourite songs, artists, and why we like them and their work. We can text each other good morning and good night.

I know conversations eventually slow down, get repeatable, and sometimes feel boring. Honestly I believe that new and genuine connections do get boring at times. We just need to continue talking and share updates about our day, the shows we are watching, watch movies together online, and keep going.

If you resonate with this post, then do reach out through a message or a reply. Even if it's tough to find genuine people, it's worth trying. If you want to avoid the standard "Hey/Hello" messages, you can DM me with some interesting questions, or by telling me about your favourite song, your playlist, your favourite artist, or a book.

Looking forward to chatting!

Feminism dies a thousand deaths daily!

I have never posted anything like this before, and I am not sure if I will ever post anything like this again. I am well-read on many topics, including gender issues and feminism. I have seen things happening around me, to people I know. I have many good friends, and I listen to them, their opinions, their stories about their family, their relationships, marriage ideas, fathers, brothers, and sexual assault. One thing I have constantly observed is that the core ideals of feminism are killed daily by people in our country, by both men and women.

Creeps are everywhere. There are men who abuse women simply because they posted something on social media. People DM random women on social media and try to force a relationship. Men hit on their married neighbours or older women, and men look for casual hookups. Every time this happens, feminism dies. Politicians use slogans like “smash the patriarchy” (which is good, by the way; at least someone said it), but it was just to gain some votes from women while remaining silent (because they fear losing votes from that community) about practices of other religions that also harm women. When this happens, feminism dies. The head of the government says that hearing women use abusive words came as a “cultural shock.” When this happens, feminism dies. Every time a rapist is released on parole, feminism dies. When women are harassed by those who preach progressiveness to the outside world, feminism dies. When women have to stay silent because a close relative did something wrong to them, this is where feminism dies. When safe spaces become hunting grounds, feminism dies. When we as a society are still stuck in debates about a victim's clothes after a rape, feminism dies. When women influencers promote regressive gender stereotypes, feminism dies. There are people who have started using the words “feminist” and “feminism” as tools to justify their every action. When every other joke and viral meme is used to sexualize women, feminism dies. When reels out there promote being a feminist simply to hit on women and have sex, feminism dies. Paintings and posters of women are defaced, and our songs are filled with double meanings without any action being taken while the singers become superstars. When this happens, feminism dies. When some people talk about marrying upper-caste women to subaltern men, presupposing that these women have no agency, feminism dies.

If you have ever visited the NSFW accounts on Reddit, there are thousands of leaked videos of women circulating. People share pictures of their girlfriends, wives, mothers, sisters, and female friends, while others comment on those pictures. People post private moments on social media, most likely without the consent of their partners. People use AI to morph images and create non-consensual nudes of women. There are rape fantasies and NSFW groups that talk about ”showing women their place” and discuss how easy it is to exploit women who are struggling with their mental health. When this happens, feminism dies. When social media feminist content creators promote tech like Meta glasses, feminism dies and entirely ignores talking about massive privacy and safety risks they pose to people in public and private spaces; feminism dies.

There are countless such incidents happening daily: news of rape, news of teachers raping students, and men raping their female friends. And these are only the cases we hear about. We know what happens behind closed doors—where women are manipulated, where women do not have the power to speak, and where they are used as objects and abandoned. It feels deeply depressing to see all of this happening around us. Everything I have mentioned is not even the tip of the iceberg. Topics like mental health, trauma, sexual assault by family members, how men suffer because of patriarchy, and the normalisation of toxic masculinity are still far away from the mainstream discourse.

I do not know what else to write before concluding this post. I know there are good people out there who understand things deeply. But in this era of social media, influencer culture, and politics dictating our personal lives, people are moving to extremes. Maybe there was something in the middle that was logical, convincing, and capable of solving many problems, but we have moved far away from that point. Let us hope for a better world for everyone.

23 [M4F] Uttarakhand/India - Looking for something authentic and long-term!

Hello! 23M here. Let’s try to build something real. As a literature major, I am deeply into books, music, philosophy, and psychology.

I think most of us are here because we are looking for a genuine connection. The presence of creeps online makes it difficult for everyone to find genuine people, so I actually think it is a great idea when women take the initiative to approach others. We live in a world dominated by social media and online connectivity. While I entirely agree that offline friendships are fantastic, making friends online can feel a bit scary. I am fully ready to invest my time and energy if you are looking for a true, trustworthy friendship. I am searching for the same thing.

I am looking for someone who won’t just disappear after a few days. I understand that online interactions don't always click instantly or feel entirely natural at first, but that is not how you build a lasting bond. It requires mutual effort, even when things feel a bit slow or boring. We should chat daily, share our routines, and slowly become a part of each other's lives; then we can shift to talking over calls, etc. By getting to know one another and building trust, we can probably meet up in person someday.

Let's try to be friends, be open with each other, and start talking while focusing on our own lives. Let us just share things about our day, our college, and our office. A good talk about the stressful/good day before sleeping and a sweet good morning text and chatting in the day whenever we are free. Is it something too much to ask for?

Let us both be good people and respect each other. We can chat about our day, our unhinged opinions, take/give advice, politics, books, and music, share reels, and try to make a bond (maybe for a lifetime). If you are someone who easily gets bored with people, you can stay away, but if you are looking for something real, authentic, and amazing, something for the long term, let's connect, and you may text me. Looking forward to meeting some incredible people. Since I am from India, it is a big plus if you are too, as we will have a lot of common ground to talk about. There is no age barrier here; we can be friends whether you are older or younger than me.

To skip the small talk, DM me with your introduction, your playlist, or tell me about a book or event that thoroughly changed your perspective. Or we may just start the conversation by talking about the gender war happening on social media, current protest things, and your opinion about that, etc.

23M Looking for someone who doesn't disappear!

23M. Interested in politics, music, and social media culture. Most of my reading focuses on philosophy (especially ethics), everyday human psychology, gender studies, and colonial literature.

I’d like to find a few good people to talk to, share how the day actually went (stressful or good), share thoughts about college/work, books, music, and random opinions, share reels, have a great time talking, and just check in when we’re free. Nothing forced or constant, just respectful, consistent conversation that feels natural. We can discuss our days, unhinged takes, ask for advice, politics, books, and music, share stuff we like, and see if a real friendship grows from it. If you’re someone who gets bored easily, no worries. But if you’re looking for something steady and genuine, feel free to reach out. If you’re from India, that’s a bonus; our time zones will match, and we’ll probably have a lot in common to talk about. Age isn’t a big deal; older or a bit younger is fine as long as the conversation clicks.

To skip the small talk, we can start with a short intro, a playlist, or song you’ve been into, or a book/event that genuinely shifted your perspective. We can also just start by talking about whatever’s on your mind.

Looking forward to meeting some decent people. Let’s keep it kind and respectful.
