Heather Mcpherson and Jenny Kwan – both MPs from Canada’s New Democratic Party – wrote to the country’s ministers for public safety, immigration and foreign affairs seeking that Bhagwat be barred from entering Canada.

“We ask you to declare Mr Bhagwat inadmissible to Canada on account of his history of hate speech, advocacy of violence against religious minorities, targeted intimidation of critics in India and in Canada, and his association with criminal organisations and listed terrorist organisations,” the two MPs wrote.

As per my understanding if landlord is NRI tenant should deduct TDS & deposit remaining amount in NRO account of landlord. Tenant should obtain TIN number & deposit that TDS to income tax department. Is any landlord following this process? If not, what workaround are you using?

I have 4 flats in a tier 3 city, each giving me rent of 10-12k per month. Till now I am getting it deposited in resident account. Now I am opening a NRO account. However, if I ask my tenants to follow this process, they will likely not agree to this additional headache.

Another issue is that I will be returning back to India in 2-3 years. At that time I will have to convert my account again.

Please suggest.

1. Considering 90 day notice period, will new rent be effective from December or January?

2. Guideline is 2.1% for 2026 & 1.9% for 2027. Which of this be applicable if rent increase effective date is 1st January 2027?

So we had flight on same PNR Toronto-Munich (Air Canada) & Munich-Delhi (Lufthansa). Then we took a domestic Air India flight to my home city on separate PNR. All three are star alliance partners.

One of our baggage got stuck in Toronto. We filed report & requested for home delivery. It has now reached my city, however Air India staff wants us to collect from Airport, even when we had asked for home delivery. He said that since it is forwarded by another airline hence they are not responsible to home deliver.

Is he right? Currently only my parents are there & it will be difficult for them to go & collect from airport.

With focus on reservation these days, some RWs are questioning inclusion of Muslim communities in OBC reservation. They say that how are Muslims getting this reservation when there is no concept of caste among Muslims.

The suspect in a hit-and-run collision in north Edmonton that investigators believe may have been motivated by hate turned herself into police last week. 

In a news release issued Thursday, police said Kelly Smith, 37, has been charged with assault with a weapon and criminal hit and run. 

The incident reportedly took place back on May 27 in a parking lot in the area of 82nd Street and 144th Avenue. 

Police said officers were called to the scene at about 6:45 p.m. and were told that a woman confronted another woman over a parking dispute. They allege that the suspect made racist and xenophobic comments towards the victim, who was wearing a hijab. 
When the victim was outside her vehicle, police allege the other woman drove towards her and hit her with her front bumper before leaving the scene without exchanging information, rendering aid to the victim or reporting the incident to authorities.

Police said they believe the victim was targeted based on her “religious and/or cultural identity.”

Sgt. Amanda Ross with the Edmonton Police Service’s hate crimes unit said the incident has caused fear and concern within the city's Muslim community. 

“Police want to assure the community that this report was thoroughly investigated as a hate-motivated crime,” she said. 

Smith has been released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court in early August.
