Metal screaming & OCD — Fear of permanent damage

hey everyone! i (19M) have been singing for a long time now, but along the way, i’ve had some setbacks, and now i’m struggling with something that’s been affecting my voice.

in early 2025, i was practicing metal vocals, and definitely was doing it incorrectly. a lot of yelling, straining, cracking, testing my voice for months. until one day, when i woke up with reduced range. i was so scared i damaged my voice i shut up for 2 weeks. then, THANKFULLY, it came back and my voice was exactly the same as it was before all that damage.

however, i struggle with ocd, and the fear of vocal damage starting creeping up on me, and i became hyper aware of my voice. i started getting pains in my throat, acid reflux at night, mouth breathing, the works.

my voice sounds exactly the same, but my main issues are
-vocal fatigue
-dryness
-pain in throat muscles

i’m already going to see an ENT, but Im just paranoid concerning permanent damage. just thought i’d share my journey and see what others have to say

Family in war, is there any chance for a grade appeal?

hey everyone. please forgive me in advance if i sound like i’m making excuses or playing things up.

my family lives in a region affected by war and i no longer have contact with them; so i don’t know if any have been died. but from what i know there’s a very good chance.

i did what i could. i thought i had it in me, but i couldn’t handle the stress. i got a poor grade in a course, and i don’t know if uoft would care about my circumstances given that ive already gotten the grade.

is it possible to appeal a course grade? given these circumstances. there’s a lot more details to this situation that add to the gravity, but i know it’s not a guarantee.

thanks in advance.

All my songs sound radically different? Thoughts?

Hey guys! I’m a 19M songwriter and i’ve been writing original stuff for a while now, but only recently started producing.

One thing I’ve noticed is, while I appreciate all sorts of different genres, the contrast between songs I’ve produced is so radical that I’m worried to put them all on the same album.

For example, one song is an 80s keyboard synth ballade with strings and an EP, while the other is a more modern bedroom indie pop song with different drums, psychedelic guitar etc.

Who else has struggled with this? I don’t know how problematic this is, or if there is a known way to mitigate this. Thanks in advance!
