Methodical youtubers for original Dark Souls lore?

I'm guessing a lot would say their favorite lore theorist for OG Dark Souls is Hawkshaw, and he is great but he also feels a bit more like a story teller or fanfic writer at times. I know Dark Souls is basically all interpretation at a certain point, but are there any youtubers that go into the Japanese text or are a bit more methodical? Maybe some who analyze some of its real world inspirations?

Nightmare Masterclasses videos are great, but I think they get a little too overboard on the greater schemas on Petscop

That is to say, I do really think Petscop was mostly thought out and very much well constructed - and I do appreciate his own lauding of the series primarily as art rather than a puzzle to be solved, but I think he reaches in quite a few areas of the series, and I don't really see his total reasoning for doing so.

Of course all of Petscop is interpretative, so my opinion doesn't overtake his - but bringing aspects of socio-economics, politics, and greater societal issues into a very personalized story is just a bit of overreaching in my opinion. I highly, highly doubt any of these factors were major aspects of Petscop during its creation, if they were they would at the very least have some sort of larger implication - as the series is I really don't see why Nightmare Masterclass had to bring those factors in. Petscop was meticulously thought out, but not that out in my opinion, it's too tightly made to tackle the massive societal factors he brings in. Even if he's bringing them up as only vestigial aspects, I really don't see how you could do that with almost anything and always end up at the same point: overbearing your listener, and going off the range of your topic.

I think the series is a bit simpler and more straightforward in its approach (not necessarily in it's content, mind you) than he makes it out to be. It's a play on creepypasta mixed with Lynchian experimentation and is focused on abstract themes ranging from child abuse to identity and PTSD - which we do agree on to a certain extent as he always emphasizes the core theme is child abuse. I just dislike that he brings in societal issues (which by the way I politically agree with for the most part) when I don't think that needed to be there in his interpretation nor do I think played much of a factor at all in Petscop's creation. Petscop isn't and was never about those things imho.

TL:DR - Great series of videos and easily one of the best on Petscop out there, but I do dislike personally how large in scope he sometimes makes Petscop out to be when it simply isn't in my eyes (not at all a bad thing, bigger isn't always better).

Hit me with the most schizoid, incomprehensible, out of control speedrun you know of

I need to emphasize this: I don't want to even know what I'm looking at.

I wanna see a 36 y/o motherfucker who works at Scheels reprogram a game on a fucking NES controller.

I want a screen to be grey for five minutes with some random jagged polygons spliced in every once and a while and then the credits start rolling.

I want to see some skinny guy on the bottom right corner with a completely blank, emotionless face as he makes some random ass game look like talking to a biblically accurate angel while on ketamine and DMT.

I want to be so concerned that I immediately go outside, take in a massive gulp of air, and touch grass.

I want to be terrified of what mankind is capable of and ask myself, "Why? How? Whomst? When?"

I want to be bamboozled, confounded, hoodwinked and bedazzled all at once, everywhere and in everyway.

I want schizophrenia. I want that high fructose, sugary, thicker than a bowl of oatmeal insanity that I'll never, EVER recover from.

Save got corrupted so these are the best screenshots I got, but I’ve never been more proud of a build

Game hard crashed seconds after I took these screenshots with my phone, was about to take a steam screenshot. I’ve never been so heartbroken. Critique more than appreciated, no mods used.

If anyone knows about a way to recover corrupted saves for Legacy Collection please let me know.

Are Median XL and Project Diablo 2 really the best ARPG’s out there?

I hear this a lot! Never played either, I’ve put hundreds of hours into base Diablo 2 and Resurrected (all the Diablo games except for 4, really). I’ve played an absolute shit ton of PoE 2, Grim Dawn and Titan Quest 1 & 2. I dunno if that makes me an ARPG vet or whatever but I am looking to get back into the genre after finishing the Grim Dawn expansion.

So. . . what even are these mods? They seem like they really change Diablo 2 a lot, almost into entirely new games. People hype both of them up quite a bit. What makes both of them so good exactly?

What are some new extreme sports games to look out for?

You know like SSX-likes or Tony Hawk’s-likes, maybe some games that are like Jet Set Radio. Maybe even like parkour games or baseball/basketball/soccer. I remember seeing some indie games that gave those vibes but for the life of me I can’t remember their names. Any suggestions?

Netrunner Jacket glitched out, but it actually looks pretty sweet, any recommendation for a mod that looks like this?

I do know there are short options for the Netrunner Jacket Mod but they don't have the same cutoff like it does here. Any recommendations?

Also I dunno if it's a glitch per se, it only happens when you get on a bike, but it looks pretty dang cool!

Having a hard time stacking bags in the 700 FWD Pit, any advice?

I’m almost done with probation, I don’t really get too many opportunities to stack pits. They threw me into a 700 FWD pit today and I stacked around 40+ in Pit 3, filled Pit 1 to the brim and pit 2 up a ton. It was really hard to close the net with how intense the stacks were. I was taking my time trying to fit as many as I could but they complained about how little I fit up there. I feel like totally I fit maybe 60ish total bags across all the pits. A lot of the bags were huge as hell.

Am I doing something wrong? Do I suck? Advice?

EDIT: The back pit was weight restricted hence the large amount of bags in the front

EDIT 2: I mean a 737-700.

Weirdest character you’ve ever played/seen?

I remember my friend telling me about a character he played whose entire goal was to make love with an AI. Very very weird, intentionally designed him like Freddie from The Master. Ended up going cyberpsycho and getting wasted by his AI wife. What’s your experiences with weird characters and their fates?

Want to make a Tibetan Monk NPC who became a Solo, any advice?

I'm torn on what exactly his character should be, does he use tech? Does he not? His purpose will be a sort of vigilante in the campaign someone who is following a separate paper trail from the party but ends up at the same goal. Depending on how they spin things he can be either an ally or an enemy. I'm sure he left the temple and became secular, I'm just not sure how to spin it, and I want to be at least respectful of Tibetan customs, any advice?

What in the world did I just play? [SPOILER DISCUSSION]

Just finished SoTF right after The Forest and all I can say is: I’m dumbfounded by the plot and lore design in these games. I liked both well enough, but I’m sure I’m missing something so please feel free to rip into this post if I’m wrong about something - but like . . . I just need to rant for a second.

What’s up with the way Endnight designs their stories? Like, it feels like both games, The Forest and SoTF were games where they made models first and a story second every single damn time. That’s the implication I got every time I saw a new thing, because I learned after the first game that basically nothing links together all that much lore wise. None of the lore cohesively comes together, in either games. They almost never explain how anything lines up, the timelines for these games are total madness because: there is no timeline.

Nothing adds up, because they didn’t care about that - they cared about making things spooky or cool. Like, they never explain anything for all the skeletons everywhere in the first game, the religious connotations or anything. No explanation for anything related to the missionaries and how they fit in to the cannibals, what the cannibals have to do with fucking anything (in the first game). It’s all sort of ‘implied’ which I’m sorry can be done well, but with how little is given for implication I think it’s pretty damn obvious that no one in Endnight could give you a straight answer either.

It’s so messy and amateurish - almost everything else is so well done, it’s absolutely bizarre (besides indie game jank that is). Like the quality level on so many things is so high, but the story is completely nonsensical as soon as you give it two seconds of thought. It’s actually maddening, I don’t understand how they repeated the same mistakes with the sequel, if anything it feels more messy in SoTF. Why in the world did we need multiverse madness when you (you being Endnight) can’t even figure out why and how the cannibals fit in to anything story wise? The base and most common enemy in your game?

A series of personal theories or head canons cannot save a game’s story that does not try hard enough, I’m sorry. For an indie studio these games are achievements and they should be very proud and I guess I’m excited for the Forest 3, but I really feel just bewildered after finishing it all.

Have anxiety about missing a shift on probation

I work for a union associated airline, I’m currently on probation, and I missed a 4hr shift.

It was entirely my fault, I got my days mixed up on a day trade and made sure to own up to it, apologized profusely. My supervisor was extremely cool, instead of marking it as a no call no show he instead just marked it as a late arrival, so I wouldn’t get destroyed with points.

I still have anxiety about it, I’ve heard horror stories online of people getting axed the day before probation ends. People who work with me frequently let me know how hard of a worker I am without me asking, how much I fit in here, they all genuinely like me. I make sure to show up 30 minutes to an hour early before every shift to show how dedicated I am. I work hard and take every lesson I can get, and I just hope it shows - because I love this job and am disappointed in myself, I’d like to think I’m more responsible than this.

This isn’t my career, I already have that with my second job so it’s not like I would be without any way to pay bills, but I still really like the work. Can anyone relate similarly with their own experiences on missing shifts on probation or give any advice?

Thanks ya’ll, hope the ramp life is treating you all well.

ReforgedZ brings back that old school DayZ Mod experience if anyone's interested

Full disclosure, DayZ standalone is what I personally prefer, but I recently tried ReforgedZ and it took me straight back to 2013/2014. Playing on Chernarus, setting my base way up in the hills, sneaking into the airfield for a nice sniper and taking fresh spawns out in Cherno, doing patrols in Elektro - it brought me straight back.

If you want that old school DayZ mod feel, this is it.

It has some problems though, I suspect the admins aren't as on top of hacking as anyone would like. The market where you can put items up for purchase never gets used since most people just peer-2-peer trade. Also, there's some gameplay stuff I don't personally like but that's here or there. The servers aren't full all the time. It is a mod, so there are a decent amount of glitches and jank.

Putting all this aside, this mod is pretty amazing for what it aims for. Hopefully they don't diverge too much from its current state.

They have a wiki, a discord, and the community is pretty cool. Cheers!

Similar games to Ground Branch

I've been playing Ground Branch for a while, I enjoy it for what it is, but I've had an itch for other similar mil-sims. I've played a lot of Ready or Not, but in terms of military style stuff, what have you been leaning into?

Any recommendations?

Are there ways around PS3 SoTC’s borked physics?

And before you go there, please don’t say play the PS4 or PS2 version. I own both, and enjoy them well enough - but I’ve been wanting to get the trophies for the PS3 version of Shadow of The Colossus, and holy smokes guys the physics engine in Time Attack is unbearable!

Would love to hear about the known ways to get around it, appreciate it ya’ll.

I remember it sounded similar to like Linkin Park or something, it was all instrumental. I found it randomly on youtube.

The girl was purple-ish, and looked like a pen drawing or something. She was facing forward, and most of her body was in frame. I think she had long hair. She had striped stockings, and I remember her holding the guitar in either one hand or both. The guitar may have been a Les Paul. Behind her the background was plain white.

I think the word ‘Girl’ was in the musician’s name but I’m not sure.

I love the vibe and feel of Silent Hill 3, that urban time capsule feel of its levels are so perfect dude, all of those little details like the mall signs and the posters on walls, the architecture. I loved the small town Twin Peaks feel to the earlier games too, but man I prefer the urban aesthetic of SH3.

SPOILERS:

>!Also very happy we get to go back, best of both worlds.!<
