After tiling, fire box and hearth not flush

I have a wood burning brick fireplace. I'm going to have the fireplace and hearth tiled or have a heat resistant slab put over the brick hearth. This wil cause the hearth to be higher than the fire box. If I'm going to be adding doors to the fireplace, I don't know if the doors will be obstructed.

In general, is it ok to have the fire box slightly lower than the hearth? Will it be possible to install doors like that?

Is Schluter necessary?

I'm not a contrzctoe but I've hired a lot of contractors who have bot done good work. I purchased 6x24" tile to install over a brick fireplace. I've been told by 1 contractor that Schluter is necessary on the edges and I've been told by another thst it is not. I'm also unsure whether fireplace doors should be installed before or after the tile. My fireplace is.not an insert. It's the brick, wood burning fp that was built with the house.

Searching so long for non toxoc flooring that I'm stil living with toxic

I desperately need to replace the flooring in my bedroom. It was old.laminate to begin with and my pets have finished it off.

Because I have cats and dogs that have accidents, vomit, etc., I cannot find a non-toxic floor to install. LVP would work but I don't want vinyl in my bedroom. Do I buy a product that may be non toxoc, but that I know will be ruined within a short period of time?

it seems like.I end.up in this situation with a lot of products. I can never find anything that's truly non toxic, so I end.up researching for so long, that I continue living with products indefinitely.

For some situations, non-toxic.products don't seem to exist.

What flooring has worked well for those with pets?

Does anybody have any type of flooring that has held up well to pets, particularly, to pet accidents, aside from ceramic tile?

I have to replace bedroom flooring and I'd prefer wood but I know that it wouldn't last very long.

Decent office chair under $800

Nearly all of the recommendations for chairs that I've seen, are out of my budget. Are there any decent chairs that I can purchase new, for under $800, for a relatively short person?

Standard of care?

I am not looking for legal advice, as the statute of limitations has expired but I don't unserstand why attorneys in this situation cited "standard of care," and dismissed this as a lawsuit.

I have a relative who had an emergency surgery for a routine procedure. He developed multiple infections, due to the surgeon causing a rupture during surgery. Following the first surgery, he, had to undergo 2 more surgeries, almost died along the way, and ended up with an ostomy. He had a huge open wound and was out of work for months, following a stay in rehab.

Malpractice attorneys said that, because the surgeons did not enter any notes, a lawsuit was not possible.

How did "standard of care" preclude a malpractice lawsuit?

Isn't the fact that there were no notes, suspect?

Sebo, Miele, refurbished Rainbow?

I have a Dyson Ball that I'd like to replace. I also have 2 , top of the line Dyson cordless vacuums, that are the worst vacuums I've ever owned.

I have dogs and cats and I need a vacuum that can handle a lot of pet hair. The corded Dyson is very bulky and does not maneuver well. Ideally, I'd prefer an upright but, I'll consider a canister, if that's the best option.

I don't have carpet, just area rugs.

Any recommendations?

Desky stability?

I've primarily been looking at Uplift with a solid top and 4 legs. However, I happened to see Desky mentioned on reddit and they look nice, aesthetically but I don't see a 4 leg option.

I was wondering how stable their 2 leg desks are, particularly with respect to monitors. I'd be using the desk mostly at sitting height.

Going from 2019 MBPro to new MBAir?

I have a 15" MBPro from 2019 but I'm thinking about buying a MBAir. I'll be using a Mac Mini Pro as a desktop. I'd be carrying the laptop to classes and around the house.

Will I notice a difference going from ancolder Pro to a new Air? The air will have a newer processor and more memory.

I'll be using mostly Microsoft Word and Excel, and Zoom.

Monitor wobbling?

Is desk wobbling to be expected on any standing desk? I was planning on buying a sranding desk to use as a regular sitting desk. However, I've read quite a few posts about typing causing the monitor to wobble. This is not specific to one brand, either.

Is this a common issue?

Setting up external drives with Mini?

I'm not an tech savvy. person. I watch videos and I've read posts on here, but a lot of the information is not instructional.

I've seen tons of video reviews on enclosures. I've also read posts, suggesting that multiple drives are needed, in order to back up the Mini, have a backup of the backup, separate work files, etc. However, I have not found any good videos that actually explain how to do any of this.

I've also seen quite a range of prices for enclosures, from around $40 to $600. If anybody knows of good instructional articles or videos, please post links.

TitanX wallets?

I'm looking for a slim bifold or trifold wallet that integrates a slim case. I was going to order a Code118, until I saw the reviews here. The Ridge wallet didn't work for me because I need extra compartments for certain types of non-rigid cards that I have to carry. Has anyone tried TitanX wallets? I was looking at the trifold.

People are disturbing my feeding stations, bowls stolen

I posted before because the area where I'm feeding had become problematic, environmentally, with the hot weather.

I failed to mention that I am in feeding in an area in which the residents do not appreciate my presence. It is a notoriously bad area. One of the people who helps me had been threatened by a resident. I was afraid that once the weather got warmer and people, especially kids, were outside frequently, that I'd begin to have issues, and that's exactly what is happening.

My food bowls were stolen. I looked around the area. If an animal had dragged them, I'd have found them. The bowls were also in 2 separate feeding tents that are not next to each other.

I don't know what to do. I live 20 minutes from the complex where I feed, and I don't know anybody there, who can monitor the feeding stations. I don't even feel safe going there to feed the cats but there are several cats that depend on me for food. At this point, I'm not sure if they're getting it or if somebody is stealing it/dumping it, before they can eat.

Ideas for extreme heat-shwlters, etc?

We will be having extremely hight temperatures. We have several tote shelters for the cats. Those have to be replaced, as they have old, dirty straw inside that I'd rather not touch.

Since I'm replacing the shelters, can I still use totes in extreme heat? is there something else? What kind of lining is best for the hot weather?

How/when to add fp mantel and doors?

I'm having tile installed over a brick fireplace. There is no imsert. It's the original wood burning fp that was built sith the house. Nobody seems to be able to tell me when the mantel should be installed-before or after the tile.

I'll also be installing doors. In that case, would the 2 sides of the opening the firebox get tiled?

I would think that the doors would be installed after tiling?

I've hsd 3 different tile installers look st the fireplace and they don't seem to know the answers.
