What are the advantages and disadvantages of using an Indian saber (Talwar) over an Indian straight sword (Khanda) and vice versa?
The talwar is popularly included in all representations of India. However, Talwar’s only developed in India around the 14th century CE through Turkic, Persian and Afghan military influences.
Prior to that, the khanda was the dominant Indian sword.
Now most people argue that this shift occurred due to the prominence of horseback warfare, in which savers were more effective.
But I don’t find the argument convincing because Indians prior to the 14th century also engaged in horseback warfare quite a lot and did not shift away from the Khanda.
For example, the Gupta empire in the 4th century CE, extensively adopted horseback warfare, take inspiration from the Kushan empire, their previous overlords. And still they made extensive use of Khanda.
So my query is what are the other more practical advantages and disadvantages of using either sword.

Tree-Kamaan, traditional bow of the Bhil community from Madhya Pradesh, India
So many years ago, a relative of mine gifted me this bow. As a kid I was stupid and ignorant, so obviously I did not recognize its value. It’s only now after I rediscovered it in storage I realized my folly.
The Bhil community is the name of a tribal/adivasi community that who traditionally hunters and warriors. This particular bow is more ceremonial, but its construction follows the same process as a war bow.
It’s made of thick solid bamboo. The string looks like it’s made of some artificial fiber (Bhil community in recent times are losing access to the forest due to protection laws so switch to artificial alternatives) and is reinforced with a thin bamboo strip.
It has a really strong draw strength. It was unstrung when I pulled it out from storage, and I spent a fair amount of time trying to string it. I’m not an archer myself, but I am a martial artist practicing Judo and engage in some heavy strength training, so I like to believe I’m strong. Or maybe I’m just not doing it right.
Unfortunately, there is very little information that elaborates on this particular bow and how the culture of the Bhils surrounding it.
The only info I could find was from these two sites. [Site 1](https://gaatha.com/teer-kmaan/) [Site 2](https://gaatha.org/Craft-of-India/jhaba-tribal-bow-arrow-making-craft/)

Just realized that Deus Ex predicted companies using enormous amounts of water for their Data Centre infrastructure
Sure, not exactly for AI, but just for secure data storage by banks. But it's pretty close.
I'm sure companies are already looking into solutions to bypass the saltwater problem and directly install AI data centres in the ocean.
Request to R.Talsorian to work on a DLC/sourcebook that gives lore to under-represented countries in the series
So as an Indian, I'm surprised by how little lore there is about South Asian countries, its society and politics, in cyberpunk lore.
All we have is very minuscule and throwaway info about those countries, like a short newsreel in 2077, etc.
Now, to give R.Tal credit, they have been rectifying this in Cyberpunk Red. We've seen many Indian NPCs like Ms Mynah and Fixie. And R.Tal could have been lazy and just given us a superficial introduction of Indians in Night City, but they went the full mile and merged Indian practices with the functioning and economy of the city.
For example, Fixie uses the dubbahwala system for her courier system. It was just so cool to see another media learn about and implement the dubbah system to enrich their world.
They also introduced Indian companies like Darra Polytechnic.
All I'm asking is that they go a step further and give us a proper history, background and current state for South Asian countries in cyberpunk.
One of the Cyberpunk 2020 DLC's mentions a civil war in countries of South Asia; who was this fought between, who were the factions? Have living conditions improved, like in Africa, or worsened? How has religion changed and/or how are companies capitalising on religions? Are countries like India still a democracy? Is Pakistan still under military rule?
Even a small perusal of irl current affairs in South Asia reveals a goldmine for cyberpunk. A single company using connections with the Prime Minister to gain a monopoly, police using smart AI glasses to identify protesters, poor folk not having access to food but still having access to smartphones, etc.
I'm sure there are many other continents/countries that deserve more recognition that R.Tal should cover.
Wasn't there a supplementary Index DLC for NC 2045 which listed out all the gangs and the weapons and equipment they used?
I forgot the name of that DLC and can't for the life of me find it anywhere. Could anyone help?
It was like a quick reference DLC that gave the locations, equipment, weapons and other stuff of all the gangs.
Which corp would be most interested in procuring physical books?
Planning a gig where a corp tries to steal a collection of physical books from players. Which corp would be most interested in something like this?
I'm thinking Ziggurat, since they might want to scan and destroy them to expand the information in their CitiNet database.
But what other corp would be interested for any creative reasons?

Gi Pullups or Weighted pull-ups?
Just wanted to ask which is a more effective exercise to increase your grip strength?
Up to this point, I've been doing gi pull-ups, and I've felt my fingers get better conditioned for grip fighting. But then there are videos like these saying gi pull-ups are completely useless.
Corpos been sourcing smartglasses with MicroVideos pre-installed to Delhi Police to record and identify protesters. Screw those badges man!!!
For context: Went to participate in the protests in New Delhi demanding the resignation of the Education Minister for corruption and gross mismanagement of national-level exams.
Police were using all sorts of new tools, from drones and Ray-Ban glasses to record protesters. Turnout to the protests was so massive that protesters eventually started tear-gassing and beating everyone with sticks. (Not that it worked)
Whole situation really felt like a cyberpunk dystopia set in a combat zone or something.
What happened to the release of Spencer and Locke 3?
Recently got into Spencer and Locke and I absolutely fell in love with part 1 and 2. The art style, the characters, the noir tone were all so wildly different and yet blended together perfectly.
If anyone likes hard boiled detective noirs with a creative twist, this comic is a must read.
Part 2 ended on a cliffhanger and when I checked online it said that part 3 was announced in 2019 and well…. It’s 2026 and no sequel to be found.
What happened?!?!?
Lore wise what are the most powerful beings Gorion's Ward fought and defeated in the course of the trilogy?
Ignoring gameplay and gameplay elements, of course, since that's a different thing altogether.
Lore-wise, off the top of my head I can think of:-
- Demogorgon
- Szass Tam
- Belhifet
- Amelyssan - Since she's absorbed most of Bhaal's essence. (Would this count as killing a God or a God-like being?)
- Irenicus in hell since he's technically a god-like being with Bhaal's essence.
- Mind flayer Elder Brain
- Drizzt (Obviously)
Who else should make it to this list?
Honestly, I think Gorion's Ward hasn't done too bad for themself. He/she could easily qualify as among the most powerful characters in the Forgotten Realms. (Which makes me even more pissed that all that was retconned in favour of boring Abdel Adrian)
