We lost our last and sweetest cat, Coco this past Saturday (5/16). She was a black cat who was 19 years old this year and had been pretty healthy until last Wednesday when she just stopped eating and started to isolated herself.

Our hearts are aching. She was such a loving PIA. Vocal, sassy, spoiled beyond all reason—a rare lap cat that I’d never had before her.
She was a double rescue: She was originally found as a 2 week old kitten in San Jose, CA and was adopted by a couple who kept her for 9 years until they couldn't care for her no longer. We saw her and her owner saw how she reacted to us ("She is good for you.").

She was a joy to have, hold and watch her bird/chipmunk/squirrel videos with. She had a happy, great, life with us.
We will love and miss her forever.

I just wanted to let you know that she lived, was loving and was deeply loved until the end.💔

50 Day Itinerary Map

What an amazing itinerary. My wife Cindy and I are so excited for this cruise after waiting over 10 years. We now have booked it and are looking to see who else may be going on this cruise!

As an past purchaser and owner of quite a number of Sleep Number beds and who was looking to upgrade (but decided these are too much ($10K) and passed). This timely report reinforces why I am glad to have gone in another direction. The concept was/is good, but the company appears to be in financial trouble from this report. I’m not sure if this kind of report is allowed here, but I felt it necessary to pass this information on, especially since I owned so many of them and was considering them again.

Though technically not a Kindle Jailbreak this is a problem I had for an older Oasis that was unable to play an Audible file any faster than 1.0 without stuttering. It has something to do with the larger HQ file codec and the older Kindles not to be able to process them at faster playback speeds, so Audible CS suggested a standard/lower quality Audible file.

But: After a long chat with Audible CS, they kept advising me to download the non-enhanced AA (version 4) via the audible.com website. They repeatedly gave this outdated advice: 1. Go to your Library on the website & 2. look for the "Audio Format" or "Format" drop-down (usually at the very top of your book list, next to the "Results per page" or "Sort by" options) & 3. ⁠Change it from "Enhanced" [AAX ]to "Format 4" [AA].

Well those options and selections don't exist because Amazon no longer supports the AA format, only AAX.

So FYI here's what works:

• ⁠On the Kindle website there's a download link symbol next to each of your books in your Kindle library.
• ⁠The Audible default sampling rate for this download is FIXED at AAX 44hz sampling and a bitrate of 128 kbit/s. So shorthand: 44_128
• ⁠The older Oasis Kindles like mine have a hard time with these larger sampling rates and cannot process them as well when you want to speed up the listening to 1.25, 1.5 or higher--they will stutter.
• ⁠The trick is to manipulate the URL that is behind the symbol to instruct the CODEC to fetch a lower sampling rate of 22hz and a bit rate of 32 kbit/s. For a primarily voice narrated version, this should be OK without impacting it much.
• ⁠Test Default Example: https://www.audible.com/library/download?asin=1234567890&codec=AAX\_44\_128 gave me a 1.27 GB _EP7 AAX file for an Audible file.
• ⁠When I changed it to a 22_32: https://www.audible.com/library/download?asin=12345657890&codec=AAX\_22\_32 it gave me a 307 MB _EP5 AAX file which I copied via USB to the Oasis and it worked perfectly both at regular and really fast speeds of 1.75

• Note: ⁠You can also changed it to a 44_64: https://www.audible.com/library/download?asin=12345657890&codec=AAX\_44\_64 for an _EP9 AAX file to experiment with if this also might work and provide a higher quality audio for audible books that have more music in them.

So, I leave it here for you to do the same if you find this is a problem for your older Kindle that you want to read and listen to a book on the same device.

The basic Matcha seems great for traveling. I’ve never seen an actual Paperwhite (and only seen the original Keyboard or the Colorsoft for comparison).

I have KoReader installed on my K3W but the UI is sluggish compared to the Kindle native framework. SimpleUI can cause it to hang and I need to cold start the Kindle. Are there any guides that best retain a balance of function and format for the Kindle keyboard?

I have such a backlog on Audible books that I am suspending my account until I get through the backlog. But I will still have access to Kindle Unlimited, so will I be able to buy the Audible book at a KU discount even though I have suspended my Audible?

I just want to leave the option open that there may be a Kindle book that I will also find a good narration on Audible. That option would also free me to listen to my book while I am puttering around.

Any similar experience here? Thanks!🙏🏼

I'm reading Caroline Singer's book "The Complete ADHD Guide for Adults" which contains a subsection called "365 Executive Functioning Hacks for Adult ADHD". There are a few that resonated with me and I wanted to pass them along, if this might help you. I've been an organizational/clutter mess and this has always been a recurring problem for me.

These few mind shifts have really made a difference because I have given myself permission to only focus on doing relatively small things for short periods. Some progress is always better than no progress and gives me momentum. This alone prevented me from procrastinating until I felt motivated to do the whole thing.

1. Leave Each Space Looking Better than when you found it.
2. If it can be done in under 2 minutes, do it now. (from the Getting Things Done method)
3. Commit to doing something you have intended to do for just 5 minutes. Set a timer and then begin.

For me, the key shift that allowed me to get going was to focus on small successes/quick wins that were going to be enough. If I focused on something small enough, the dreaded load of having to do it all at once was gone. Not that the Clean The Garage project is going to be done quickly, but I don't need to feel obligated accomplish it all at once.

Hi All: I've been doing some research for our next bed. We are coming from an older Select Comfort system that is running too hot for us here in FL. So we are looking for the best natural cooling mattress that would replace both the plastic bed-frame and the non-breathable bladder system it is based on. These are the few that have floated up to the top with a hybrid (latex preferred but not must), split king mattress system.

So I've a jail-broken my old Kindle K3W and have installed KUAL and KoReader. I am also using Calibre to sideload my titles. But I'm not clear on the wireless function. When I first wiped and jailbroke my Kindle (I'm on the 3rd time now), I connected to my wireless network and got a notification from Amazon that said that this was not a test Kindle and that I was unable to run the script that starts KUAL. So I had to restart the jailbreak from scratch to enable that function.

But I also want to use Calibre to wirelessly connect that server to my client, but wouldn't that enable the wireless to send my KW3 information back to Amazon and break my jailbreak? I'm not sure what I need to do to keep the wireless on for Calibre but disable the Amazon connection.

Any tips, sequencing steps, etc.? Thank you!
