Anyone here successfully switched from Sales to Marketing? Need some guidance.
I'm looking for advice from people who have actually made the switch from Sales to Marketing, especially into Digital Marketing.
A bit about me:
- I'm currently working in a B2B Sales
- My long-term interest has always been marketing, especially digital marketing, content, social media
- I have previous internships in digital marketing and 1 yoe in marketing during my college but my current full-time role is sales.
I'm planning to start applying for marketing roles while continuing in my current job, but I'm feeling a bit lost.
I'd love to hear from people who have been in a similar situation:
- How did you transition from sales to marketing?
- What skills helped you make the switch?
- Did you have to take a pay cut?
- How did you explain the switch in interviews?
- Did recruiters question why you were leaving sales so soon?
- What would you do differently if you had to do it again?
- Any tips for improving my chances of getting shortlisted?
I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences, whether the transition was successful or not.
Thanks in advance!
