If Halloween 3 didn’t flop, where do you think the Halloween franchise would be at now?
So we all know how much Halloween 3 Season of The Witch flopped due to it not featuring Michael Myers and people didn’t like that, despite the fact that I’d say it’s a decent movie in of itself. But if it actually did well and didn’t fail, how would the franchise be now?
Personally I think thorn timeline wouldn’t exist, and instead the next Halloween sequels will be something like 3 where it’s creepy incidents that happened on a halloween night. I assume The blumhouse trilogy would have probably still exist, alongside the Rob Zombie remakes.
Paul Reubens was amazing
Reubens didn't just capture the energy of the '80s—he helped define its brilliant, neon-colored strangeness, leaving behind a comedic legacy that remains completely unmatched.
Reginald VelJohnson can flow
I am going to be honest here….this is amazing! Because honestly seeing Carl Winslow drop bars is something I didn’t know I needed, but now I’m convinced this is exactly how he handles neighborhood disputes when the badge isn’t enough! Honestly 10/10 No notes
Grief management: Tom Atkins Style
Who needs a shoulder to cry on when you have a 80 proof doctor in a beige trenchcoat? Apparently mourning a murdered parent takes exactly as long as the drive to the nearest Rose of Shannon Motel
Coleen Camp in Clue (1985) is absolutely gorgeous
I love Clue (1985) so much. There are so many quotable lines throughout the movie, and the star power in it is insane! Coleen Camp was great here, and I loved her accent. Clue (1985) is such a fun movie that I could watch anytime
I still have a few of mine
Nothing quite captured the spirit of the 1980s like the sharp, unmistakable RIIIP of a neon-colored Velcro wallet
"There's a lotta things about me you don't know anything about, Dottie. Things you wouldn't understand. Things you couldn't understand. Things you shouldn't understand"
"You don't wanna get mixed up with a guy like me. I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel. So long, Dott"
Why do you love Halloween III so much
This is a great question. u/virginiafalls1234 asked me this question in a previous post, so I thought I would create a new post to explain why I love Halloween III. I would love to hear your reasons as well. This is what I wrote in response to that great question:
Wow...where do I begin? I will try to make it short (yeah right 🤣) and concise for the sake of boring everyone. Here are the top 5 reasons I love Halloween III:
- John Carpenter. He is by far my favorite director of all time. The Thing, Prince of Darkness, Big Trouble in Little China, Christine, Assault on Precinct 13, They Live, Vampires, In The Mouth of Madness...the list could go on and on. Although he didn't direct the movie (Tommy Lee Wallace did) John was heavily involved. The movie just has that Carpenter feel about it which makes it that much more cool.
- The Music. Again, it's about John Carpenter 😂 I personally think that Halloween III and Christine are the best scores that John Carpenter has made. It's no coincidence that both movies were made only 13 months apart and share a lot of the same styles of music. Halloween III was released on October 22, 1982 and Christine was released on December 9, 1983. Both of these movies have such great music that really bring the movie to life!
- Tom Atkins. The man, the myth, the legend! Tom Atkins elevates Halloween III from a bizarre sci-fi detour into a masterclass in blue-collar swagger, delivering a legendary performance as Dr. Dan Challis—a man who approaches an apocalyptic pagan conspiracy with the exasperated energy of a guy whose weekend was just ruined. Whether he is casually ordering a "Bud" at a sketchy motel bar, driving a car with an open container, or effortlessly pulling women half his age while sporting a mustache so magnificent it deserves its own screen credit, Atkins radiates pure, unadulterated 1980s coolness. Atkins gives Challis an irresistible, flawed magnetism that proves you don't need a scalpel to save the world when you have a killer upper-lip wardrobe and enough rugged charisma to survive Stonehenge microchips. He's such a bad ass!
- No Michael Myers. First off let me be very clear. I LOVE the character of Michael Myers. I think he's in the top 3 best slashers of all time (also Freddy and Jason) and I am all about a Michael Myers movie. With that being said, I love that Halloween III doesn't have him in it at all. The original idea for Halloween was to do a different "Halloween Story" every year centered around the holiday. Although it was shocking at the time, I think it really worked. I remember when Halloween III came out people were pissed it didn't have Michael in it. I was always like, "Didn't you see the trailer" 🤣 I have always defended this movie ever since it came out, and have always recommended it back when it was not the cool and trendy thing to do. I love that Carpenter and Hill took this direction for the franchise and have always wished the anthology idea took off. I do have to say that even though I was all for the anthology thing, I'm kind of glad it didn't happen because we got Halloween 4 which is my favorite Michael Myers movie right after the original.
- The story. If you watch the story of Halloween III you can see that it matches another great sci-fi story called Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Both films take place in the fictional town of Santa Mira, both movies contain a town with a secret, both movies have humans being replaced by artificial, emotionless duplicates, both movies have that, "No one can be trusted" style, and both movies end on a bleak, nihilistic cliffhanger. It's no surprise Tommy Lee Wallace has openly and repeatedly acknowledged that Halloween III: Season of the Witch is a direct homage to Invasion of the Body Snatchers (specifically Don Siegel's original 1956 version)
1st LIVE WATCH-ALONG Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
It's almost time kids! We will use this thread to make comments, ask questions, and give trivia. Here are some general rules about the live watch:
1. Wait for the Sync Signal ⏱️ Please do not press play early! Keep your movie at the Universal Logo until the host drops the official "PLAY" comment in the thread. If you join late, ask in the comments to find out exactly what timestamp we are currently on so you can catch up.
2. Sort by "New" 🔴 To experience this as a real-time live chat, make sure you change your comment sorting from "Best" or "Top" to "New". Refresh the page frequently so you don't miss a single reaction!
3. Respect the Myers-Free Zone 🔪 Yes, we all know Michael Myers isn't in this movie. Constant complaining about it ruins the vibe for the people who genuinely love this film. Embrace the weird pagan sci-fi corporate nightmare for what it is!
4. Keep It Fun and Respectful ❤️ Standard subreddit rules apply. Keep the banter friendly, don't spam the chat (unless it's the Silver Shamrock lyrics, in which case, spam away), and let’s enjoy the ride together.
Make sure to update your flair to Team Pumpkin, Team Witch, or Team Skeleton. Also drop a comment before the movie telling us where you are watching from, and on what format! Show starts soon
"It's almost time, kids. The clock is ticking. Be in front of your TV sets for the Horrorthon, followed by the Big Giveaway. Don't miss it. And don't forget to wear your masks. The clock is ticking. It's almost time."

I know what I’m wearing for the live watch this Saturday, June 27th
This is one of my favorite t-shirts, and I’m planning on wearing it for the live watch!
Don’t forget, 9:00 PM EST this Saturday, June 27th Make sure to grab a drink, snacks, and get ready to comment. I’m really looking forward to this 🎃🧙🏻💀
Dr. Dan stands as the ultimate, unexpected role model
Here is our hero, Dr. Daniel Challis sporting his iconic mustache, a slightly rumpled jacket, and giving off the aura of a man who would rather be drinking beer than saving the world from killer novelty masks.
Forget gym gains and hustle culture—true enlightenment is achieving the raw, unbothered, silver-fox status of horror cinema's most reluctant hero
This is pretty accurate
The funny thing about this is that it’s true for so many of us! I remember the whole Columbia House thing like it was yesterday 😂🤣😂
🎃 THE OFFICIAL r/HalloweenIII LIVE WATCH-ALONG! Hit play at exactly 9:00 PM EST this Saturday, June 27th ☘️
🚨 Testing the Broadcast Signal: Our First-Ever Live Watch-Along is Coming! (And I have no idea what I’m doing)
Hey fellow Santa Mira Locals,
I have a confession to make: I have never hosted a live watch-along thread on Reddit before. Because this is my first time running the factory floor for a live event, I honestly don’t know quite what to expect, how crazy the comment section is going to get, or if Conal Cochran’s microchips are going to completely crash the grid.
But there is a first time for everything, and what better way to test the airwaves than with the greatest synth-driven, Tom-Atkins-fueled cult classic of 1982?
We are going to give this a shot, fly by the seat of our pants, and see how it goes. Here is the game plan for our maiden voyage:
- The Date/Time: June 27 at 9:00 PM EST.
- The Mission: We will all cue up our personal copies of Halloween III (whether you’re on Shudder, Blu-ray, or an old VHS tape), pause it at the exact 00:00 mark, and hit PLAY at the exact same second at 9:00 PM EST.
- The Chaos: I’ll have a pinned thread up 30 minutes early. Once the movie starts, we use the comment section for live reactions, dropping trivia, and spamming the Silver Shamrock jingle every time a TV screen appears. Make sure to sort the comments in this thread by "NEW" so you can chat, drop trivia, and react with everyone in real-time!
Think of this as a beta test for the sub. If things break, or if we get out of sync, we’ll just blame it on the Silver Shamrock corporation, crack open a beer like Dr. Challis, and keep rolling.
Put on your masks, gather 'round, and let's see if we can pull off our very own big giveaway. Make sure to have a drink in hand, and snacks at the ready. If this goes well, we can try it again! Stay tuned! 🎃☘️💀
Reginald VelJohnson is amazing
He knew his roles, and was damn good at them
Very emotional
I remember watching this in the theaters and feeling really sad. The emotional gut-punch peaks when the children comfort him in his final moments, a scene that transforms a creature usually treated as a common household pest into a heroic, deeply mourn member of the family
