Stair treads recs for mudroom/kitchen

We are in the process of renovating our kitchen and small mudroom in our house. There are four steps that are in the kitchen which go down into a mudroom.

Any suggestions on what we could do to protect these steps? Stair treads? Any brands to consider? We are looking at Koffler so far.

Exhausted about being strong all the time

Mid 40s F, in a relationship for 20 years and I have a thriving busy career. People tell me I am efficient, hard working, kind and ambitious. And my staff tell me that I am their rock in our busy workplace.

I enjoy and feel good about being all of these things for others.

Yet many days I feel like I want to be taken care, allowed to be lazy once in a while and told that I am beautiful. Throw in a piece of cheese and I would probably be in tears of happiness.

Does hiatal hernia affect weight in stomach?

Mid 40s F, had her colonoscopy and endoscopy over summer. A hiatal hernia was found and all biopsies were clean. When I see the GI doctor next month, I want to make sure I ask good questions about it.

Being post menopause for a year, I noticed that my weight has redistributed into my upper stomach and definitely my hips. My pelvic area is slender. It impacts what type of pants and dresses I can pick out. I do have 25 pounds to lose and am strength training and making better food choices.

Would a hiatial hernia impact my literal stomach and weight?

Next 6 months - aggressive debt payoff

Over the past 10 years, life has gotten the best of me and I emotionally ate and spent a lot of money. Currently have $20k total with a few credit cards. Started aggressively paying off that debt last month and I already feel better. Credit Karma already emailed me and said my credit score when up 24 points.

What really scared/motivated me is that I had to stop my contribution to the Roth IRA so I can aggressively pay off this debt. Losing that time scares me and I think this will encourage me to hustle as fast as I can to get this debt gone.

Thank you for reading.

Primary Care Doctor lectured me about cheese

Felt like such a Liz Lemon today. Went to my PCP for annual physical and everything looked great except for a few borderline numbers. My cholesterol and glucose were borderline high. We discussed my diet and I confessed my love of carbs and cheese.

The doctor gave me a sympathetic look and no more than an ounce of cheese a day. I was devastated although I do not want the die-ah-bee-tus

No more working on my night cheese.

Anyone go to speech therapy as an adult?

Mid-40s, have had HOH since I was three years old and wear hearing aids for my entire life. I know that I speak with the funny accent or deaf accent and I am fine with that. But I think more people who do now know me are having trouble understanding me when I talk. Does anyone have advice about this? Has anyone as an adult gone back to speech therapy?

About the Barbi Benton Aspen episode

Really enjoyed this week's podcast about Hef and the girls visiting Barbi Benton's house in Aspen. One scene that I wish they had spoken about was how reluctant Bridget and Kendra were to eat anything at the dinner.

Hef's brother Keith actually spoke to the chef and the kitchen cooked up a separate main course for Bridget and Kendra. Keith deserved a shout out for that.

Closed captions on Android cell phone

Currently i have an Android cell phone Samsung model. Does anyone know a foolproof way to get closed captions on the phone?

When I put the phone on speaker, the live text option works okay and I can read the conversation. But when I am on my earbuds (which i prefer for more clarity) the closed caption text does not work or is really spotty.

What am I doing wrong?

TU: Coroner indicates that both the grandmother and mother died by suicide in Mechanicville slayings

Very sad article today in the TU that changed the narrative a bit - both the mother and grandmother died by suicide while the children were fatally and intentionally harmed. Were the mother and grandmother in agreement about this?

All along it was perceived that the grandmother acted alone. Who knows what truly goes on in a family?

Latest episode - Barbie Benton house - great episode

The latest podcast episode of when the girls and Hef visited Barbie Benton in Colorado was so good!! Holly and Bridget went right into the episode and there was no long or non-related opening small talk.

Maybe Holly and Bridget took note of what we've been saying on these threads??? So happy to see them trying to keep the podcast fresh.

Literally put on a CV Committee and Chair Work

Updating my CV and I am ultra hung up on this literal formatting question.

I am trying to write down how I am currently on a committee and now co-chair for the past two years. Would this format work?

Professional Committes:

2018-Present - Basketweaving Committee

2025-2027 - Co-Chair Basektweaving Committee

2025--President - Co-Chair Basketweaving Committee

Or what other format would you suggest I do for this mention?

Late 40s and worrying about saving enough for retirement - advice?

In my late 40s and right now, am on track to save about $280,000 in Roth IRA and have Social Security of almost $3,000 a month if I retire at 70. My employer does match up to 5% in 403B and I put in just the match amount.

My issue is that I have about $20,000 in credit card that is taking me forever to pay down. It is taking me longer to pay it down since I put in $500 a month into my Roth IRA.

Just having sleepless nights now as I am much closer to 50 and I know I need to make some changes. Between a full time and part time job, I make almost $60k a year.

Is there hope for me or specific advice that I should look at? Thank you!

Any only children have one amazing parent and one awful parent

Anybody here have an amazing one parent and an awful toxic parent for the other? My mother was amazing, loved her and she was my best friend. She protected me and we protected each other from my toxic father. Now she has passed away from cancer and it was devastating for me. My father is still alive and he does not speak to me or acknowledge me in anyway. It saddens me as an only child that there is no one else in my immediate family but I do have a fantastic extended family that I see and appreciate so much. Toxic fathers are the worst.

Can we just reminisce about the early days of the GNL podcast?

Just listening to one of the earlier episodes of the GNL podcast. Holly and Bridget sound like they are having so much fun and this episode was fantastic talking about the unaired pilot.

Enjoy!

Is anyone else exhausted from managing and giving direction for people?

For over 10 years, I have been a middle level manager in a higher education setting. I truly still love my profession but I think I am feeling a bit burned out. My small team of three people are wonderful people and I am always worrying about how to manage them better.

My tactics are - trying to lead with example. I have good ideas, always ask them for feedback, asking them for their own ideas. But no one seems to have any follow through and I send reminder emails and I always phrase things that I am kindly asking or reminding someone.

My team just looks at me as a joke yet they like that I am a soft place to land. Our big boss has a temper and has blown up at the entire team a few times in writing and in person. So I am desperately trying to go in the other direction not being a bully.

Any suggestions for me in how to inject liveliness and happiness into my team and not burning myself out?
