Just a random thought
So in the black community there’s a common narrative that I’m always hearing, “if you don’t have two black parents then you’re not black, you’re biracial; black and mixed aren’t the same thing” which leads me to my next question. If a so called “mixed” or biracial person has children with someone else that is monoracial or fully that of one of their halves (ie: black/white/asian) are their children still not considered black as their mixed parent is not seen as black themselves? Or does it flippantly change based on phenotype and what others deem most appropriate? My dad is biracial himself and I’m pretty sure he’d be very offended if he knew about this common thing that floats around in the community as he sees himself as just black. As for myself being a 75/25 I mainly navigate life as a black person with the occasional mixed assumptions.
