Would the American Legion Post 16 be a good place to talk to about the history of the Vietnam War and its effect on Bisbee?

You may have seen my post asking for recourses for my story. A character in it is a Vietnam Vet and comes home to his mine being closed. I'd love to talk to someone about how the Vietnam War affected Bisbee. I want to talk to my local Vet's Hall and get information about pilots. The character is also a Korean War Vet and is in the air force. I know the Vietnam War was mostly a ground war, but I know there were many pilots involved. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Books about bank robbers (fiction and non fiction) both modern and classic

I'm writing my own book about a bank and jewel robber in the late 70s-80s and want to read similar titles. My story takes place in Southern Arizona so books local to the Bisbee area are a bonus! I wrote a few down but I'm trying find both historical and made up stories. I've been in contact with the Bisbee library and a book store. Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Candy that's like Tums

I love Tums. The texture. The flavor. Everything. I could eat an entire container. Besides SweeTarts, what is a tums-like candy? Something super chalky and easy to bite into. Bonus for citrus flavors.

Are creative writing courses any good?

I'm writing my first book and I want to know if writing courses are worth the money. I've seen some no credit classes online and I would love to know if they're any good. I haven't written since high school and I want to get better at it. Have you taken a course? Is it worth the couple hundred dollars?

Bisbee unionized miners?

I'm writing a book and a character in it is a miner. (1971 before the mines failed/went defunct) I'm trying to find information on unionized workers but the only thing that shows up is the deportation history. Did miners in the 60s-early 70s have union benefits? Again, this is leading up to the mines running out of ore / shutting down. The story starts right before the mines closed. Thanks!

Is it worth it?

I dumped Spotify a couple years ago but miss the discovery of artists by listening to a music channel or radio (streaming) I've heard of tidal but I'm not excited with the price. When I had Spotify last time it was $10 ish a month. I accidentally paid for transferring my Spotify playlists to tidal thinking the $5 was a tidal subscription. It being over $14 is iffy to me. Do you like tidal? Is it good? How's the algorithm?

Free or Affordable downloadable software for writing?

I don't want to need an internet connection to write. I don't want my writing to be on a server; I want it on my hard drive or flash drive. I worry about AI features on microsoft word. I don't want my writing to be scraped by AI. I also worry about data breaches and stolen content. Are there any non-subscription based writing/typing programs that don't use AI? I'm okay with a one time payment, as long as it wont break the bank. Is there anything I can use? What do you use?

Where can I find more information about Bisbee between the 60s-early 80s?

I am a writer and I'm thinking Bisbee will be the setting for one of my stories. The character in it grew up in the 60s and became an adult in the 70s. I know a little bit about the history and the mines going defunct in the 70s. What was Bisbee like before this? What were politics like? Where was the nearest university? I have a lot of questions that are hard to find on Google, and would love a way to learn more about things that aren't common knowledge. I'm reading articles, but my questions go unanswered. Is there a historical society I can get in contact with and ask questions? Does anyone here have grandparents who have told stories? I know about hippies moving in in the 70s and would love to know more about how that had an effect on politics in the town. Thanks in advance!

Recommendation Request: A documentary about early man

I am looking for a documentary article or book about early man. I know our recent history from the past few thousand years but I want to go further back to our "caveman" ancestors. I recently watched the Netflix documentary about dinosaurs and life on Earth throughout the eons and wanted to learn more about humans and Neanderthals and other ancestors of ours. Any help is appreciated!

This old Wonka machine popped up in my memories

I'm pretty sure this was at a mall. It had sprees, everlasting Gobstoppers, chewy sweetarts and runts ❤️ I miss Wonka

How to know if I have perfect pitch?

Okay so I've never taken a professional music lesson. I was in school band from the 4th grade to the 8th grade and never learned how to read sheet music partially because I'm dyslexic and it was extremely hard. But I can play music by ear. It's not perfect, but I can definitely figure out a melody. Let me listen to a song a couple times and stick me in front of the piano and I'll kind of figure it out. I can't play left hand but I can play the melody with my right hand. I also play trumpet, guitar, ukulele and honestly any instrument I try (besides drums). I think if I practiced enough and really focused in on piano, I would be able to tell you the note by just hearing it. I'm autistic and have ADHD and have heard neurodivergent people often have perfect pitch. Is anyone the same?

Sopita de Letras with no blender?

Can I used crushed tomatoes or tomato paste instead of blended roma tomatoes? I don't have a blender but I have canned crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. I have large cans of enchilada sauce too. I've never made it before and all the recipes I'm finding need a blender and I can't afford to buy a blender right now. Advice is appreciated!

Replacement for Tequila?

I love a good cooler especially with tequila. My favorite is a watermelon cooler. Now I'm on medication I can't drink. How can I get that tequila taste without alcohol? I miss my drinks! And I only got them once a year, I never drink outside of my special yearly drink. I'm craving it now and wanted to know if I can get that flavor with no booze. Recommendations are appreciated!

How to make sex more pleasurable while on meds? (AFAB)

I'm on medication that snatches my ability to cum. Frustrating right? Is there anything I can do to make intimacy more pleasurable? Foreplay is fun, making out is great, head is better. I just can't climax. Not even with masturbating. I can't take any medicine to enhance it or anything with added chemicals. I can't use marijuana (it makes me manic). I think some herbs are fine, topicals and lubes should be fine. Anyone else have this problem?

The closest I ever got to storm chasing

Back in 2019 there was a supercell thunderstorm over Anderson CA. I was at work watching it. Everyone in the restaurant next door was coming out to watch. The lightning was spectacular. You could even see the cloud rotating. It produced one known funnel cloud! If I ever come into the money I'm definitely heading out for a storm chasing tour. Meteorology is my first love but I'm really bad at math so I don't think it's a viable career. It makes me sad.

What color do you think my eyes are?

Usually I say they're hazel but sometimes they look green to some people. I have Neurofibromatosis type 1 and have been told I have lisch nodules. Also do my eyes have central heterochromia?
