Which would be better on my Tamron 90mm Macro VXD, the Raynox DCR-250 or the Nisi Macro Close-up Lens?

hi

I am looking to push my Tamron 90mm macro a bit further with a magnification add on, there seem to be two good options the Raynox 250 and the Nisi macro lens. i have seen the Raynox used a lot in videos and was going to go with that but i wanted to check before in case the Nisi was the better option. My camera is the Sony A6700

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible (realistic) to change the background of a photo when the product has see-through glass or liquid?

Hi

i have seen in some tutorials that you can change the background of a photo if you use a monotone colour like white letting you change the colour for different variants or to something closer matching to the product, is this possible in products that have transparent/translucent elements, like bottles or liquids or is it not worth it given that it would change the colour of things like the liquid in less obvious ways? if the original colour is close enough can you push it slightly to better match what you want, or should you just always try to get it finalised in camera?

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Would 90mm macro on APS-C be ok for product photography (alcohol bottles), or is it too much with the crop factor?

Hi

I have a Tamron 90mm macro and a sony a6700 which is apsc, which makes the tamron 135mm, i have seen that around 80-100mm on full frame is popular, would this 135mm equivalent be workable or is it too much? If it isn't does anyone have any recommendations for a good lens for product photography (glass bottles of alcohol) on Sony APS-C?

Any help that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Would Plasticity work for modelling organic shapes with lattice pattern /holes arrays cutouts?

Hi

I would to be able to make and print form fitting models like in the image that are built on top of 3D scans, and that have patterns of holes in them like these various lattices and circular holes. I know that Rhino would be a good choice but i dont want to spend £1000 if i can help it (though i dont mind spending some money if necessary), and i am not sure how well blender would work with so many booleans when it came time to turn it into 3d geometry. Would Plasticity work? i see that it comes with XNurbs if you get the pro version.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What is the best fake ice on a budget?

Hi,

I would like to do some use fake ice for some product photos (alcohol), real ice is a massive, pain and i dont want to spend £70 on a single ice cube, can you get away with the acrylic ice cubes like you can see on amazon? I have seen that Encapso K silicone can be used, but is £50 (though you get 1kg worth) i thought it would be best to ask before buying anything, if anyone has any suggestions for good places to get it in the UK i would be very grateful.

Are there any good beginner friendly guides to recording in SLog3?

Hi

I am looking to record some video and i would like to try out recording in SLog3 so that i can have more flexibility in post like i would do with RAW photography, there seems to be a lot of different views on how to do it when i searched YouTube so i am not really sure what is good advice and what isn't. If anyone could point me to something that they found that helped them step up from just using the basic settings and auto i would be very grateful.

I don't know if this is redundant but i have the a6700.

Playhead keeps going to beginning of clip when swapping from edit to fusion.

Hi

I am new to davinci, i am trying to add keyframes to a mask that i am adding along a polyspline in fusion, i want to add the beginning and end of the write on, i go to when i want to add them by moving the playhead in edit, then right clicking and opening in fusion to add the keyframe, when i try to add the end of the animation by moving the playhead to the end of the clip and right clicking and opening in fusion the fusion playhead is always at the begining of the clip instead of maintaining the time from the edit page and shows this both in the fusion and back in the edit tab when i got back. I dont know what i a m doing wrong and i have no idea how to move the playhead to the correct time in the fusion, tab i have done this multiple times previously but now when i try to do it it doesn’t work.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

*edit - i think it may have been a bug, restarting davinci sems to have fixed it, either that or it reset whatever i was doing.

Can Alcohol brands post videos to TikTok in the UK?

Hi

Are posts that show alcohol allowed on TikTok, i have been doing the social media for a very small alcohol company in the UK, but our last couple of videos have been hit with warnings for community guidelines, our previous videos all went out with no problems and are still up, but our new ones have been blocked. the videos are just things like showing our stall at events, and some animated text ones that announce any events that we will be at, as well as a few talking heads. Weirdly one of the ones that was just text and a photo got flagged for misinformation.

I am not sure if this is because there systems have just noticed us and we were never allowed to post because we are alcohol related, or if there is some sort of mistake.

I have seen that there are some brands from the UK that are promoting alcohol (@auvodka and @/tarquinsgin)so it seems like TikTok does allow it, but now i am just more confused as they even show people drinking.

If anyone has any experience with this sort of thing i would appreciate your help.

How do i fix "No Frame Available For Mediaout1" that appears for 1 frame?

Hi

I have just made a relatively simple animation using some pngs and the fusion tab, but there is an error that appears at the end of some the stacks of clips, a message at the bottom says no frame available for mediaout1, i am not sure how to fix this as i am new to davinci, when i check the nodes in fusion they look like they should to my eye, but i could be missing something obvious. could it be to how i used the fade out on them?
i have included an image to show what is happening though where the playhead is i have removed the fade outs on the clips to see if that would help but it doesnt.

Any help that you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Update* I ended up disabling all the clips and playing them one at a time to see which ones cause the issues, then i remade those ones from scratch.

What sort of foam/sponge is used in professionally made ink pads for stamps?

Hi

i am makings some stamps that are quite large (up to 20cm in diameter) , there are places that sell ink pads for this but they are expensive, which made me wonder about making my own, i have seen some guides that suggest that you can use upholstery foam, but this seems much coarser then what are in a lot of normal ink pads for stamps. Does anyone know if there is a particular type of foam that is used, if there is a name that i could search to see if i can find some blank material.

Any suggestions that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Is the Sony 18-105mm F4 a good all-round lens for video?

Hi,

I am looking for a lens that will be able to roughly cover close, medium and wide shots, i have the a6700, and the videos will be mostly for social media and promotional videos, its for a very small company selling alcohol where we are looking to try and step up from just a few shots on phones. I am not sure what to get, and i think for convenience i would rather get a zoom then multiple primes (at least for now). The 18-105 seems OK though i am not sure about the aperture, i did consider the tamron 17-70 but i have seen reviews that say that the oss fights the ibis on cameras that have it, and that you can only have it on or off meaning that effectively it doesn’t have it. I know its more a matter of taste, but how useful is the power zoom on the 18-105?

Are there any other lenses that would be better?

Any suggestions that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Would you recommend the tamron 90mm f2.8 vxd e mount, or is there something better?

Hi

I have been enjoying doing some macro photography with a cheap second hand sony 30mm f3.5 on my a6700, i would like to upgrade as i find the distance from the subject quite difficult to manage with how close you need to be, it often scares away the insect. I have been looking around and the tamron 90mm f2.8 vxd looks quite good but im not sure if theres something else that i should be looking at, like one of laowa ones, though i find having AF to be quite handy as i struggle with moving camera to focus technique.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

What button settings and general settings do you use for macro?

Hi

I am just getting into macro photography with the sony 30mm f3.5 on my A6700, i have been having fun but i find that i get a lot of ruined shots with only a small handful being ok after taking quite a lot. I think part of it may be how i have set my camera up both with buttons and just general settings, i am new to both macro and photography on a "proper" camera so i have yet to fully familiarise myself with what all the settings mean, so i would be very grateful of any pointers.

my current settings are:

Manual

Raw

shutter speed varies depending on light but about 1/50 - 1/250

f11 - 18, i did originally have it at 3.5 ad the focus area was razor thin, its better now but im not sure if there is more i can do to improve.

iso - 100 - 400

white balance cloudy

Tracking - Expand Spot

continuous shooting - hi

metering multi, should it change this to spot?

ibis - on

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

i got this after a lot of shots, its mostly random luck, rather then me being able to make it happen.

Is it possible to change the temp and flow while printing variosure tpu mid print to get different sure ratings at different parts, without causing a print failure?

Hi

I am looking to print with the colorfab variosure tpu, would it be possible to change the settings to take advantage of the change in properties for different parts of the same print. How badly would the quality be effected by waiting for temp changes, would i have to keep the transition to between layers instead of during the same layer. The flow changes as the temp does, is it realistic to have different flows or will this add too much variance. I only have the one toolhead (for now).

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
