Recommend me beautiful prose (without a bleak and dark subject)
Hi! I am looking for books ^(audiobooks if I'm being honest) written with **beautiful poetic prose.**
I've read a bunch of Cormac McCarthy, and it's some of the most amazing prose I've ever read, while simultaneously being some of the most awful subjects I've ever read.
I don't want bleak and dark and depressing and harrowing.
I am almost through "This Is How You Lose the Time War" by Max Gladstone, and it's more of what I'm looking for. beautiful, **poetic** prose. Books you can drink in, prose that flows like a river, words that fit together like the stones settling on the bottom of a stormy sea.
Any genre, but my wheelhouse is horror (think Between Two Fires), thriller (think Misery), high concept sci-fi (think Recursion, and I Who Have Never Known Men). I want to have to look up words, I want to stretch my vocabulary (*so far, no one beats Cormac on that front!*).
Any suggestions? 🫶 Many thanks!
