32 Dogs Seized After Court Orders Access for USDA to Inspect Iowa Dog Breeder’s Facility
We sure have had a lot of big puppy mill news today! It seems this is the one issue that can unite Americans.

The New York ban on the sale of puppies in pet stores is being enforced!
The good news is that since this investigation was released by Humane World for Animals, the number of mink farms in Iceland has dropped from 6 to 1. I do believe we can end the killing of mink (and otters, martens and other mustelids) for fur!
If your fave isn’t listed, you can put the answer in the comments.
What are your “must read” recommendations for books on mustelids?
I’ll start. I love mink the most The Mink by Nigel Dunstone is one of the only books published on this species that isn’t about how to trap or fur farm them.
That book is rare and hard to find though. We need an updated version of The Mink.
What are your faves?
It’s nice to see these little guys making a recovery in the UK!
The horse got spooked and took off running, carriage still attached. A family was in the carriage and were thrown, with the 18 year old boy hitting his head. He died hours later.
Last week a horse named Deniz dropped dead in NYC while pulling a carriage around.
There have been 8 incidents in 1 year with these carriage horses just in New York City alone.
BAN THIS SHIT NOW!
How many horses have to die? How many people have to be injured or killed? Horses do not belong in city traffic. And to the guy on the horses sub who claims I am trying to kill the horse industry, no I am not. Getting 200 horses out of New York City will not kill the horse industry.
But, I do favor animal welfare and human safety more than I favor some tiny industry that accounts for about 0.0000000001% of all NYC jobs.
It's happened again. Another awful incident with a NYC horse carriage ride.
If signed by the governor, Delaware will become the 10th state to pass such a law. Puppy mills need to pay attention as their days are numbered!
The Las Vegas, NV; Pembroke Pines, FL and Raleigh, NC Petland stores have all recently filed bankruptcy. The Raleigh store closed and the other 2 are trying to reorganize.
There are still 74 puppy selling Petland stores in the USA. With 3 having filed bankruptcy, it is clear something is wrong at Petland. I have to guess that sales are dropping because people are becoming more aware that Petland relies on puppy mills and sells a lot of sick puppies.
With Petland starting to fail, now is the time to urge them to change their business model. Stop selling puppies. Lean in on pet products and pet services like most other pet stores do and save their company. It's hard to believe Petland doesn't see the handwriting on the wall, but maybe a few phone calls can help.
Again, the number to call is 1-800-221-5935.
That tooth is loose. Now is the time to pull it out!

Of course Puppymillland, sorry, I meant Petland is using their cash to influence votes in the Florida legislature. Florida has more puppy selling pet stores than any other state in the nation. They have 82 out of just under 500 in the entire USA. Florida is ground zero for this issue.
Every couple of months we see a headline like this. This is getting ridiculous. If these carriage operators can't keep the horses from dropping dead in the streets, and they clearly cannot, then this industry needs to end.
I am not a PETA fan at all, but they seem to have done a really good job documenting some very serious animal welfare problems in what I can only describe as a bird mill. Petland, PetSmart and Petco should take note and cut ties with these operations.
