I thought FedEx was closed on the 4th? 🤔

This package was delayed, supposed to have came yesterday, but now showing it's out for delivery?

  1. Since when did FedEx operate on the 4th?

  2. My area has never gotten Saturday delivery with FedEx unless it was overnight (which this is not)

Suggestions for a 10G SFP+ NIC & Transceivers

For windows 10/11 in my main build (just got 7gig fiber) Seems the best route is to go SFP+ instead of 10G ethernet.

Currently have a 82599EN based 10Gtek nic. Should I just stick with that is there something cooler/better? Its an X8 card, but running in X4 due to no other slots in my motherboard (using an RTX 4090)

I am able to get at least right at 7gbps when connecting directly to the modem with a RJ45 module.

I did get some weirdness with the current Single Mode duplex transceivers I have, HiFiber! on both end download is fine but upload is only 300mbps or so its unstable. But if I have 10GTek on one end and HiFiber! on the other its fine.

I already had ethernet ran, but I also have some Single Mode I can run which wouldn't take 30 mins to do, and it seems like everyone recomends to go the Fiber route than ethernet.

Will connect to a UniFi Cloud Gateway Fiber.

I was looking at maybe getting the TRENDnet TEG-10GECSFP since it seems newer?

Thanks!

7 Gig Fiber

To complement the WiFi Speedtest yesterday. Will be upgrading my UDM Pro to the Cloud Gateway Fiber as the UDM Pro seems to not handle it very well. Speed directly connected to the ONU

WAN Can't get more than about 5gbps UDM Pro

My Fiber just got upgraded to 7Gig and most I can get is 3-5gbps its not every stable and is all over the place. Using the latest Unifi 10G SFP+ Rj45 and tried a 10G Media Converter with a DAC cable with the same results.

Flow Control Enabled & Disabled

IPS, QoS, etc disabled.

Canceling account/activating new one, Moving Spectrum Mobile lines?

I did a "move" which is bascially the same property but different house, and was new service.

Was hoping the install would happen faster, but just paid the new bill that came out. I'm guessing the whole month is gone when I cancel no proration? What if I downgrade the old service? as in remove TV and downgrade the speed? Would I get a proration then?

And for those that have done it, is moving a Spectrum Mobile account from one to another easy? There are no phone balances just the numbers.

Thanks!

Another note: I also have a billing credit on my bill. Would they send that credit as a refund?

DNS Being routed to Australia. Over 200ms response time

Just noticed this, wasn't like this last night. But response times were over 200ms and looked and seems like lookups are going to Australia.. I'm in the US.

Usually I'm between 10-12ms.

An address change was made to your account

Anyone else get this? I checked my account there has been ZERO changes. Just changed my password to be safe. And they still keep rolling in lol.

They are legit walmart emails and not spoofed.

Spectrum Techs are Amazing! So is Invincible WiFi

There's a lot of crapping on Spectrum here, But at least in my area they have been nothing but amazing! Yesterday eve my Internet went out, No outage message so I called and apparently I was the only one offline. Zero signal to the modem. Tech comes out today finds that 1800ft ish away at the pedestal my line was cut, by a contractor installer for someone that just got service installed yesterday. I'm like great gotta wait several days for the same contractors to come out to run a whole 1800ft run of fiber. I guess thats an expensive mistake!

Tech somehow gets in contact with the landlord of the neighboring property and gets permission, and next thing I know he's walking down the driveway running a temp line all the way to the pedestal! Not even 30 mins later I'm back online!

During that 24 hours I had an excuse to test the backup internet with the Invincible WiFi.. I hooked up the Spectrum router to my UDM Pro (usually use T-Mobile as a backup) and things were great! Cellular coverage out here is pretty poor on Verizon but was getting around 250-300mbps down and 5-12mbps up. Did have to reboot the Spectrum Router a few times during this as it would just stop loading pages even though speeds where fine (like it was a weird DNS issue)

I used right at 70GB, I haven't seen many posts here with their experience with it, Its not perfect but I cannot complain.

Unrelated but since the fiber was cut and a new line will have to be ran, I guess its time to try out how they "move" service. When Spectrum first came here they didn't offer it at my new address, but did at my old house, (I already had my own fiber connecting the houses together) since my previous ISP wouldn't come here either. So I just had the service installed there and the router is connected at my new house. Since they have to run/burry fiber again might as well just have them install it at my new house instead of my old house (which was serviceable 6 months after I signed up, I just didn't want them to have to run 1800ft of fiber again)

When I called he said it would just be better to make a new account with the same everything/promos, and cancel the old one once its installed. He did say he they would have to manually link my Spectrum Mobile account afterwards though (hopefully thats true)

One thing I do doubt though, They said install appointment is tomorrow eve! But not sure how that is gonna be possible since its contractors that run/burry the fiber and I doubt the spectrum tech is gonna be driving around with a ditch witch & trailer with their van, and I doubt they will run a temp line around 2300 feet. So I'm guess they'll come out, see no fiber is ran to the house, and setup a crew for another date (that happened when I first signed up for service)

I Won't post the tech's name that came out, but he deserves a raise for going out the way to get me back online today! Not sure of any other provider that would do that! I have a business connection with another ISP in another location and if there is an outage its 2-4 business days before they can even come out.

Anyway... Thank you Spectrum!

10G SFP+RJ-45 or 10G Media Converter with DAC for WAN?

Which would be the better option? I have a UDM Pro which only has Gigabit ethernet, I have 2Gig Fiber. Currently I use a 10G TP-Link Media converter with a 10G transceiver going to my UDM Pro using single mode fiber.

Would it be best, ONU > Media Converter > DAC to UDM Pro?

or

ONU > UDM Pro 10G SFP+ RJ45 ?

I know the RJ45 stuff gets hot and my office is usually pretty warm as it is. I had a mikrotik SFP+RJ45 awhile back for 2.5G for a switch and it way to hot, but had replaced it with a switch with SFP ports.

The 10G Media Converter though is just warm to the touch, Plus I'd only need to get a DAC cable.

Backstory: Reason I have a media converter in the first place as the fiber I had installed at my parents house as at the time it wasn't offered for my address despite being around 650ft away.

Now there is the possiblity of getting fiber installed from the ISP at my house, so thinking of my options on how to go about it. ONU on a stick is not supported for my ISP's setup sadly.

If RJ45 Unifi or broadcom based 10GTEK?

Thanks!

Would go for the UDM Pro SE, but not worth $499 just to get a 2.5G WAN port lol

10G SFP+ Ethernet module vs 10G media converter with to SFP+ Fiber?

Would using an SFP+ 10G ethernet module be better or worse than just having fiber ran directly into my UDM Pro for WAN from a 10G media converter? UDM pro only has gigabit ethernet and I have 2 Gig fiber.

Is there any other advantage other than just removing a failure point (the media converter)?

Backstory:

When I had my house built 4 years ago I ran fiber to connect my parents and my house (650ft) Since Cable co wanted $10K at the time to extend, so the modem just stayed at my parents.

Anyway fast foward when fiber came around last year, my address was not serviceable but my parents was so I had fiber installed there and just using my existing fiber setup.

Now my address is serviceable but just never wanted to have the Fiber co run ANOTHER almost 2,000 feet of fiber so just kept things as is.

Well the fiber ISP line was cut to my house yesterday by an installer for another house... So they are gonna have to run a whole new fiber line to my parents house. I'm thinking I should "move" service and have them just run it to my house instead.

How long until they'd disable the 5G Backup?

Internet has been out for 9 hours so far. But keep getting texts and emails saying "you don't need it right now"

Granted there's not an area outage, but my ONU is offline so it's either fiber cut somewhere between the pedestal and my house or my modem failed (not the first time)

How long does one have before spectrum will disable the 5G modem?

Tech is coming out tomorrow.

Does this look like fiber damage? That could affect anything?

This is the jacket that feeds fiber into the house. Just noticed it has a bend look to it and a white spot (could be bird poop though). But maybe sun damage? I'm sure this is outdoor rated, but could 95-100F heat cause this? This spot is in direct sunlight. It's on an upper level of the house so can't get a close up.

Internet went down, and I'm the only person who is out. ONU has power but zero signal.

Sunburn like feeling on side of neck?

Started zoloft about 4 weeks ago. I'm not a stranger to neck muscle strain, but the past three days I've had this weird sunburn like feeling on the right side of the back of my neck. Could this be from the zoloft? I've read that "you can get a severe sunburn from minimal sun exposure"

Theres no rash or redness, just skin sensitivity and only there. It did happen a day after I was outside for about an hour, but it was a cloudy day.

Thanks!

Symmetrical 2 Gig upload not working

Have Fiber, So 2 gig up on the upload side just lit up here. Shows in my account as 2x2, but ONU will only provision to 1gig on the upload side for some reason, as confirmed by the spectrum phone rep.

Anyone run into this?

Spectrum Invincible WiFi Router Backup Speeds and Fiber Speeds

Just got the Free Invincible WiFi router with the 2gig plan. Not bad! First image is the Cellular backup, (closest Verizon tower is about 5 miles away) So thats pretty great! My previous backup T-Mobile is hit/miss.

2nd screenshot is WiFi on the Spectrum through the Spectrum Router. Slightly better speeds through it than my U7 Pro AP.

And 3rd is The Spectrum Router wired into my WAN2 on my UDM Pro for backup.

Thought I'd share since there are not many posts about it. Now for how long can it go disconnected from Spectrum? I have no clue if they'll kick it off or not.

Spectrum Fiber now has 2/1 offering!

Just thought I'd check and it gave me the offer for 2 gig on fiber!

Need help reading a Digital Cytology (Vet closed)

Link to the screenshot of the report Digital Cytology,

So does this mean its not cancer right?

Vet hasn't called yet and they're not closed for holidays so wont hear back until late next week.

But he does have cholangiohepatitis and was most likely born with it. Which requires surgery which quoted was around $10,000 which I cannot afford.. Just lost job 3 weeks ago and already spent $3-$4K just in the past few months on this.

Our treatment options are:

The conservative or surgical options should be considered.
1.⚬ Conservative management: Treat recurrent episodes of cholangiohepatitis promptly with antibiotics, as they occur.

2.⚬ Surgical management: Cholecystectomy by a specialist surgeon to remove the gallbladder, which may be a source of
persistent infection, and potentially reconstruct the biliary drainage if gross abnormalities are seen. I suggest liver biopsies
(from at least 3 lobes) be collected at the same time and be sent to the Cornell Veterinary Hepatopathology service and the
gallbladder and liver biopsies be sent to a lab for aerobic and anaerobic bacterial culture. This would be to help determine
the underlying cause for recurrent cholangiohepatitis events, if possible.

Dippy Kitty has had recurrent cholangiohepatitis. This is an inflammation of the liver and
bile ducts, likely from a bacterial infection ascending from the intestines. The underlying cause is suspected to be an
abnormal structure of his biliary system that he was likely born with, which makes him more prone to these infections.

Thank you
