Does anyone know when the Beach Boys set ended last night ?

Wrench thrown into tonight’s plans and was wondering if anyone knew when music ended and fireworks started/ended last night at the Bowl?

Sandwiches, Sando, Sarnies…

All posts must feature a sandwich. Two pieces of bread with whatever between them. You know the drill.

However, there has been this huge uptick in moderation needed around many users feeling the need to overly ‘educate’ or grossly attack based off of what someone has called…a sandwich. What you call them — historically, locally, colloquially, even erroneously— is up to you, though.

Going forward, will be zero tolerance of such comments and/or non-friendly discourse about what others call sandwiches. Your comment may be deleted, you may be given a first warning or a short ban.

Again, this is a SANDWICH subreddit — it’s already not that serious.

Edit: PLEASE read before blindly commenting, this is not about what defines a sandwich, it’s about what people abbreviate/pet names for a “sandwich,” in which we are saying it does not matter and we are no longer allowing fighting about this. This is not “more moderation,” it’s literally less.

Gotta hand it to the brilliant Bobby Moynihan — dude stays PAID!

Definite /r/SNL hall of famer, too.

I took a very long car ride across the city and noticed that things everywhere look kinda the same

Palm trees everywhere, sunshine pouring over old buildings, patios full, streets waking up, and something good to do on every block.

This city is not a husk. It is alive as hell.

Why do all the legends say they have nothing to rhyme about anymore?

Though I respect it, I just don’t really buy it or understand it. From Jay to Andre, etc, so many legends say they just don’t have anything to rap about now, even if they have the skill. “No one wants hear this and that from a 50 year old…” Look there’s obviously truth to that, people not being able to identify with raps about famous paintings or throwbacks to when you dealt on the corner — ok yes fine, but there’s not more? Other notable people at your age or writing memoirs maybe about their life, early on, good or bad childhood, whatever. Why can’t the hip-hop legends still rap about feelings or things that are relevant to them, past present or future, the things that are real because they’re humans. I mean you have 80+ year old legendary auteur directors still successfully putting out their visions through their storytelling, I really don’t get why some of the old heads don’t give it more of a go? You won’t tarnish any legacy or hit record.

Edit: I just want to say I really appreciated everyone’s nuanced perspectives on this! I knew not everyone would agree with me but honestly kudos to the rare mostly civil discussion on this website lol. Thank you to the mods that gave it a chance for healthy standalone talk! One thing is for sure: Hip hop is forever.

Do not believe the haters — James is better than ever! What a show.

To start, I’ve been going to James Blake shows for well over 15 years. In fact, the first show I saw him (shout out Rob McAndrews, who was playing that show too) on was in a basement with 23 other people! I’ve pretty much gone to every tour he has had since he started touring, smaller, then bigger and bigger. Obviously, we know the success he has had and the evolution in which his style, career, and musicality have evolved. I say all this to say I’ve read so many negative, nitpicking, petty takes about his setup, his song selection, and everything for this tour. I’ve got to admit that I started to buy into it, thinking that’s what all this had kind of devolved to: a very chill, love ballad, back to back show that you might fall asleep in. That wasn’t my assumption. Those are a summary of pretty much a lot of the comments I saw! So I was kind of bummed out a little bit, but, you know, we were still going, obviously, to last night’s show at the Greek Theater in LA, just not necessarily looking forward to it as usual.

Well, I’m here to say this: do not believe the haters. Last night’s performance on this tour was one of the best I’ve seen in his career. Period. His vocals have never sounded better. His stage presence was incredible and different than I’ve ever seen. His band could not have been more dialed in, more sharp, and the sound was freaking in 3D. I mean, it was engineered so tightly, I was blown away. The lighting, stage direction, everything was so well thought out. But let’s focus on the music, right? I love his full catalog, and last night, to me, was truly the best of both worlds. Yes, he didn’t do the “old stuff,” but holy shit, the arrangements for each song on the set list took it to another level. Seriously, the reinvention of some of those songs had my mind melting. We absolutely have to get some type of live album of some of these versions.

Anyway, I’m still reeling from last night, but I just wanted to pop in and say that because there have been a lot of people on here and other places who have expectations that simply don’t meet reality. But I’m here to tell you reality is shattering those expectations. If you still have a stop along the way, you HAVE to go see this show.
