Inspired by Moc (still a wip)

The renders are finished but already I can see physical changes I’ll make to the model once I order the right bricks.

Think of the Helghast were a more technologically advanced peoples with relegious fanaticism (thus the cathedral inspired superstructure on top, inspired by warhammer/halo convenant)

Hope you like so far! Excited to build this one

Such brilliant games

As a teenager I grew up playing dead space 2 and 3, in just now playing Deadspace (the remake) and I’m enjoying it so much. I was really hoping 2 and 3 would get remade but I think that dreams faded away. If anyone reads this who was involved in anyway, the old and the remake, Thankyou so much! I live your games and I hope you’re as proud of them as I am :) x

Hot take on Helghast troopers

Strictly speaking to the art design, I really love the art direction of KZSF. The weaponry, armor and vehicles all look fantastic. In saying that, one thing I wish they kept was the “traditional” look of the Helghast helmets having the gas mask-esque attached hose, as opposed to the modern “mandible” look

Which?

I agree it’s not the best photo but- what do you think looks better? The weathered/battle damage (nuln oil coat) on the left or the cleaner looking coat on the right?

Decommission 🫡

The time has come for my Star Destroyer moc to be decommissioned and taken apart. She collects dust and space now, but she’s been with me for several years. Bless you ol girl

Cutting resin?

Hey friends! Pretty amateur modeler here. I have this tiny (and very pretty) 3d resin model. I was wondering if I could fashion the command bridge so that it was lower- in theory it seems simple. Cut the tower, sand where needed, reglue the tower.

I most likely won’t but if I actually wanted to- how would you recommend I cut this so it’s as fine a cut as possible?

Space battles-

Hey friends! Love this warm community. I’m wondering if anyone can point me to any books that depict (in your opinion) good space battles. Specifically I’m wanting to read how different authors might write ship to ship combat, say large capital ships, whether it’s long range or Star Wars style broadside engagements. It’s easy to visualise on screen but I want to read how one might make such a battle engaging for a reader

Inspired by wip 🚀

A lot of work and love has gone into this- my older ship (the physical model) was the inspiration for the upgraded model. Obviously heavily inspired by the Helghast assault cruiser. I love the Helghast aesthetic and wanted to use its silhouette for craft in my own world. With a mix of Halo Covenant and WH40k, I love the idea of religious warships.

The idea of this is a massive cathedral on the back hull that acts not only as the command structure but the tail is its hanger bays and operational staging platforms.

I’ve written lore for the ship but it’s ever changing in terms of dimensions but currently the head cannon is roughly 5km long. The three angular slopes and its hammerhead platforms are large weapon batteries intentionally designed to face direct ahead/below the ship, focusing on orbital and physiological warfare. The physical model will no doubtably look slightly different with varying Colors and greebling, but it’s a sight to behold even as a render! Hope you enjoy

As a reader, do you:

Question for all of us sci fi readers out here. Do you prefer it when the author explains technologies and internal lore quite thoroughly? Or do you prefer it to be more vague and left to interpretation?

For example, I’ve noticed when writing drafts of chapters of a book I’m writing on, I tend to over explain things because I know the lore (because I’ve made them up) but looking back I feel some of the content would be better in some sort of encyclopaedia instead of the actual narrative.

EDIT:: Thankyou everyone for responding, reaching out and leaving comments! I really appreciate it and I’m excited to be apart of your community :))

Pretty new to this community :)

Hello! Is it common practice for using this to ask for feedback on creative writing of their own, or ideas, or what the community thinks about x or y? I’m writing sci fi but don’t really have anyone to share it with. Would love to bounce ideas off people who are friendly and lovers of the genre too!

3D resin printing?

Hello Adelaide! I’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations for any shops/services that can 3d resin print, specifically for tabletop games (think warhammer ect)

I called The Hobby Cave in Christies Beach- lovely service but the gentleman thinks their printers might not be adequate for my needs. Specifically I’m wanting to print out Star Wars spaceships, ranging from 50mm to 300mm in length, both in single (for smaller) and multiple (for larger) parts. Thought I’d check and see if anyone has any suggestion, have a lovely night! 🙂

My first ever model 🥹

Harkonnen Ornithopter. Absolutely love the art style for the Denis movies. Painting mine in a darker metallic colour then the in universe military green. Used Tamiya weathering kits (super cool) to add build up of sand and dust at the front of the craft. Hope you like it! (Definitely whoosh this around)

Resurgent class!

I could’ve taken better photos against a white wall but I was just too excited! I tried to paint to engines a dark grey but it just didn’t look the good to me. Ended up trying a weathered/ battled tested look with some good ol nuln oil. May end up adding spots of dark tan, and black weather/damage affects. The thing is the scale of this ship they’d need to be super small. I’ll attempt to highlight the engines then we’re finished! I know star destroyers are simple because it’s just grey but it’s the second model I’ve ever painted so I’m happy so far hehe

Resurgent Class

Say what you will about the sequel trilogy (personally, I was disappointed in them. Great cast, art design but terrible writing and story direction in my opinion, which is ok to have different opinions! We all love Star Wars) but I gotta say

The resurgent class is my favourite capital ship design in all of Star Wars, even as far to say I prefer it to the venator and the imperial 1/2. Its aesthetic, size, it’s so cool- and remember, rule of cool everyone!
