I've been using the Cabo 50 for some years now and I absolutely love this reel. It's extremely smooth, pretty light (to me), drag is amazing, and there's absolutely no slop in anything. I've never had line cut into it and never had a problem with it.
Recently upgraded the setup my wife used with a POS Pflueger freshwater reel to the Cabo 50 and put the Cabo 5000 on my slightly heavier pole. I didn't realize just how much bigger the 5000 was to the 50. But it's almost just as smooth as the 50, casts really far, no slop, tight drag...she's ready for some saltwater! Hopefully it smooths out some as it breaks in. I wanted to get us a closer matching setup so we could swap rigs during a fish on, line break, or anything like that. We primarily saltwater fish, but we're using these big girls for bass fishing too 😂
The last picture is just a fun shot of how I spooled it myself while my daughter was throwing her little setup in the lake. I stuck a hook remover through the center and the bag gave it some resistance so it spooled tightly. 30 lb braid on both reels, but the 50 needs new line.
I'd highly recommend the Cabo to any serious saltwater angler. There's just no reason to look at anything else.
Just put a new set of tires on my truck. Used to run 305/45R22s at about 34 psi and never had any issues. Just put 295/70R18s on and run at 45 psi. I heard from a friend who went last weekend that a lot of people were getting stuck. I've never run LT tires on the beach since I moved back to Texas. Do I need to air down? If so what's a safe pressure? Truck is a 2022 RAM 1500 Crew 4x4
There's no reviews of this tire on Discount Tire's website, but I decided to take a chance on these tires and thought I would leave some feedback for the internet to find. I recently needed to change out my tires and took the chance to do the wheels as well after a blowout on a 2,000 mile trip left me with differing tire sizes on my front and rear axels. I bought a set of these tires about 2 weeks ago in LT295/70R18 to go on a 2022 Ram 1500 4x4 Limited with stock air suspension. This size is an E1 129 load with a 60,000 mile warranty and 16/32" tread depth. I have been running them at 42-46 psi.
Water: They've handled deep standing water and wet pavement with ease. I hit a known puddle near my neighborhood during some torrential rain from Bertha and didn't even feel the truck slow down at 45 mph going through 3-4" deep water.
Mud: Handled somewhat deep, slick clay pretty well. I slid a little, but I think that's to be expected with how nasty that stuff can be.
Road/Gravel: Dry traction has been great, even on gravel with a hard acceleration.
Sand: I'll test them on the beach this weekend and comment an update.
Noise: They have a slight hum, but nothing crazy.
Comfort: It's an E-load A/T tire, so it will be a rougher ride as expected, but overall they seem pretty good. Coming off curbs are effortless in this size and cushion is great where you barely feel a bump.
Cornering: I don't really like to sling things around my bed, but they do just fine with spirited cornering on back roads.
Towing: Handled weight in the bed and a trailer just fine. I didn't notice any loss in performance while moving things in my truck and an enclosed trailer.
They seem to be a great value for what you get and they're light. I've seen no penalty to my fuel economy and may actually have improved it a little bit after taking off heavy 22" OEM wheels. My truck stays on road 90% of the time, but occasionally hit dirt/gravel roads and ranch roads in the Texas Hill Country and South Texas, so a heavily armored A/T tire that adds extra weight isn't a need for me. If you decide to take a chance on these, you get 30 days to try them out and if you don't like them, you can return them and get something else. My impressions right now lead me to want to keep them on the truck.
I'm not affiliated with Discount Tire or Bridgestone, nor have I received any kind of reward for this post. I'm just a big fan of Discount Tire as they've always done a good job for my family no matter which location I go to.
I see comments all the time about how defenseless radar detectors are against instant on radar. It's simply not true. Whenever you hear an alert, pause, another alert, pause, another alert, pause, take that to mean that you could be coming up on an officer triggering instant on, especially if those pauses are inconsistent. Cars ahead of you are getting popped. Could you be getting hits from the side in a city? Sure. But radar detectors are still detecting the entire time. It's up to you to know how to interpret what the detector is telling you. So next time you hear short alerts with pauses in between, heed caution.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
Had a blowout headed out on a 2,000 mile trip only 175 miles into it. Problem was, no one stocks the 305/45R22 size. It was 3:30 PM by the time I was calling around. Luckily, there was a Discount Tire 8 miles behind me in Lake Charles. I had to buy 2 tires to match the axel. With mismatched sizes, my 4x4 is unusable. I've been wanting to pull the 22s off the truck and put something else on. This was the time.
I bought some take off RHO/TRX wheels for $400 on Facebook Marketplace. Really couldn't decide what tires to go with, so decided to be a guinea pig since these tires have a 30 day return policy. I love the look of the RHO wheels on the truck and the tires were a little chunkier than I expected, but that's perfectly fine.
I can confirm that a 295/70R18 on OE wheels fits a stock truck with 4-corner air suspension. The steering already feels way lighter. The Dueler Maverick is a relatively light AT tire coming in around 57 lbs. The wheels are obviously lighter than the 22s. This tire supposedly has great driving characteristics with great fuel economy for an AT. So far, it looks like no hit to the fuel economy and may have actually gained efficiency. My Tazer DT is dialed in so I know I'm getting accurate readings.
I was concerned about the 295/70R18 fitting and thankfully Discount Tire test fit the tire and ensured clearance before doing the full install and charging me. If you're on air and you're thinking about this size, you can comfortably and confidently put them on stock 18s without issue.
Anyone have this light and can provide the run times at each output? Even HF can't get their specs right on this one. I checked the online manual but they weren't listed in there. 6-7 hours seems like an awfully long charge time if the high run time is only like 30 minutes.
