Windshield streak

Windshield streak

Hi, I just bought this car from the dealership recently. Since it is used, it is as-is. This is only issue the car has which is this streak on the windshield. I have tried both Windex and rubbing alcohol on both sides. Any ideas? TIA

Bathroom Sink Pop up Stopper

Today I was replacing my sink pop up stopper. When I removed the old one, there is a rubber flange ( I think that's right name for it) glued to the sink. I was like "awesome, I'll just place the new pop up on top of that so I dont have to use plumber's putty." As you can see from the picture, not all the water is fully drained. Is it because it is sitting on top of that rubber flange? Should I just go back and remove it and use plumber's putty or is there a simpler solution? Thank you

Question about the app

I just installed their level 2 charging station and installed the app. What is the point of the app? It seems like the whole point is to look at stats and doesn't really do much when it comes to ev charging. Am I missing something? Tia

People need to stop telling others on how to spend their money

I see this a lot on where there is a story about someone who is rich and famous spent X amount of money and people onlinr would say things like, "that money could definitely help the poor" or something along that line.

That is a very ignorant thing to do. The most recent one that I saw was on Ishowspeed where he is planning to spend $11 million in building a studio. People online were trash talking him and said that the money should be put to better use. Listen, I'm not a fan of his but what he does with his money is his own business. He made that money. He worked hard for it. He didn't do anything illegal or hurt anybody to get the money. If he wants to spend S1000 to drink a nice bottle of wine, that's his business because you would not like it if someone was to guilt trip you on how you should spend your hard earned money.

For example, your $800 smart phone that y'all carry around. Wouldn't it be nice that $800 could be used to feed children in a developing country? Your $2000 Mac book. You don't need that. You can get a cheap laptop for $450 and donate the rest to charity. Don't get a brand new car. Get a used one and donate the rest to charity. Don't guilt trip how people should spend their money when you are not using your own money to do whatever you are preaching.

Found two used cars- same model/trim, around the same mileage, same price but

Hi, I'm looking into getting myself a used Ioniq 5. The dealership that I'm looking at has two. One has been in the lot for about 2 months and the other about a week. Same model, roughly the same mileage, and the price is about the same. I have yet to look at the car fax reports and I'll be checking out both in a few days. My logic is to get the one that has been on the lot for a week because it is "fresh" from service. What are your thoughts? TIA

Paris Baguette and 85 Degree in the same city?!

Paris Baguette opened this week!

For those who don't know Paris Baguette is a Korean bakery chain with a French theme. It is basically 85 Degree with better decor. At the end of the day, both sells Asian/Western fusion baked goods. Basically, we were like, "White folks, we like your bake goods but let us make it better for you." I'm super excited because my two favorite Asian bakeries are in the same city.

Question about moving a ship when the bridge is destroyed

Hi, dumb Army guy here and I have questions regarding basic ship operations. For the folks who don't know, for the past week, Ukrainian drones have damaged/sunk over 100 oil tankers and cargo ships and a handful of tug boats in the Sea of Azov (https://euromaidanpress.com/2026/07/15/the-azov-sea-wasnt-enough-ukraines-drones-followed-russias-oil-fleet-into-the-black-sea/). From the videos that the Ukrainians provided, it seems that they are targeting the bridge.

Question: when you destroy the bridge of a ship, the ship is pretty much dead in the water, correct? The only way to safely take the ships back to port is via tug boats which they have been targeting as well.

TIA

I need to know...reviews for Kung Fu Soccer 功夫女足?

I love Shaolin Soccer and when I heard about Kung Fu Soccer, I was thrilled. But when I saw the trailer, this looked like trash. Since I'm not on Chinese social media, what are the reviews like? If you have seen it, is it as bad as the trailer or is it not that bad?

Why Port Cranes haven't been targeted by the Ukrainians

Hi, dumb Army guy here. I don't know much about maritime/naval operations. I would like some education on this topic. Like everyone else, we have seen Ukrainian drones targeting Russian cargo ships and oil terminals but I have yet to seen any port cranes being targeted (I could be wrong). Wouldn't it be wise to take out the port cranes as well? Because if you take out the port cranes, it would paralyze the port from loading and off loading containers which would then cause logistical issues with the local economy.

Is it normal for somebody trash their trade in?

Recently, I traded in my Corolla. All I did was empty out my car. Since I'm not a messy person to begin with, there were no food or drink stains or garbage in my car. After I gave my salesperson my keys, I started doing the paperwork and he came back to me thanking me for how clean the car was. According to him, the last car that was traded in, the owner decided to trash and pee inside the car on the day of. I was dumbfounded. I asked him how often does that happen where someone trashes their trade in, he said every now and then.

My question is does that happen a lot in this industry and does it void the contract since the person trashed the car?

EDIT: Folks are replying about the piss lol. I'm specifically talking about how they trash their car before trading in.

I think some folks are just missing the point of the Slate

What I have seen in the last couple of days, not just on this sub, but also on other subs, is that some people are missing the selling point of the Slate, which is modularity. I see people keep comparing it to the Ford Maverick for the base model and the Rivian R3 for the upscale SUV model.

The thing is that a Ford Maverick will always be a truck. A Rivian R3 will always be an SUV. The whole point of the modularity system is to allow users to customize their vehicle for whatever task they want to use it for. Yes, there is only one module which is the SUV (I don't count the base model as a module). I can bet you a lot of 3rd party vendors are already brainstorming all the different types of modules that they could offer and that is the beauty of the Slate. Granted that most individual users probably won't go from module to module but businesses would definitely see the value in that.

For the individual users, the idea of changing and customizing panels is a huge selling point. I bet you a lot of folks who have 3d printers are already thinking some wild ideas that they could do with the Slate. For me, I would print out a panel with a lion coming out at you which in turn acts as a cell phone holder. I can definitely foresee all the crazy interior designs that would make the Slate attractive.

On a side note, remember back in the 90s, when you get a new car, one of the first thing people like to do is upgrade the crappy, stock entertainment system. After you upgrade it, you can change the front plate to whatever design you like. At least from my experience, people love doing that! So I can see people falling in love with that type of a concept of re-designing the interior.

My hope is that if the Slate is successful, other companies would see the value in creating a modular vehicle and in turn, we as consumers would benefit from that.

Dry flaky skin not going away. It has been like this for several months now.

I've been using Aquaphor and got prescribed triamcinolone (0.025%) two weeks ago. Hasn't improved one bit. Would like a second opinion. Thank you

Hey S6, this might be helpful for the annual OPSEC/INFOSEC briefing

BLUF: Japan Self Defense Force's computer network got infected by a virus via USB drive linked to a Chinese company.

Note: I'm really shocked that the Japanese SDF still uses flash drive on their network. We stopped using them in the early 2000s for the exact same reason which then led to the creation of Cyber Command.

https://asia.nikkei.com/spotlight/cybersecurity/japan-defense-forces-used-usb-drives-with-china-linked-virus-nikkei-investigation

Japan's Self-Defense Forces used USB drives containing a China-linked virus on computers with access to classified information for nearly a year, then elected not to disclose the matter even though similar memory sticks were widely available online.

The Ground Self-Defense Force used the compromised thumb drives on devices connected to secure systems until they were found in Feb 2025. Multiple safeguards set up to prevent such a cybersecurity breakdown failed.

The virus was discovered after a GSDF member at a regional headquarters in the city of Itami, near Osaka, noticed a computer was operating slowly. An examination of a USB drive that had been inserted into the computer revealed a virus.

An internal investigation uncovered six infected USB drives. Of the roughly 480 computers investigated, more than 50 had been connected to the infected drives at some point.

Nearly half those computers were linked to closed systems that handle highly classified information like unit command and control.

GSDF computer systems are built on the Defense Information Infrastructure used by Japan's Defense Ministry and the SDF. They are divided into open systems that connect to the internet and highly secure closed systems. The two are isolated from each other.

Because standard operations frequently require data to be exchanged between systems, SDF members routinely use USB drives.

A GSDF cybersecurity unit analyzed the USB drives and found them to be counterfeit products made in China. Rather than memory chips, the drives contained cheap, slow microSD cards as a storage medium, some of which harbored the virus.

The computers displayed the drives as having a capacity of 1 terabyte, but their actual capacity was only 240 gigabytes, about a quarter as much.

Internal documents indicate the regional headquarters received these USB drives in March 2024 from Ishikawa prefecture in central Japan, during disaster relief operations following an earthquake on the Noto Peninsula in January that year.

The same virus was detected in six of the eight USB drives obtained at that time. Records of how the drives were procured were reportedly unavailable.

The GSDF normally employs multiple layers of security checks, including virus scans at the time of procurement and during computer use. But because the USB drives were excluded from scans performed by computer security software, the virus went unnoticed for nearly a year after their use began.

"Multiple check systems failed to function. We don't know the details about why the USB drives were excluded from computers' virus scans."

The virus has been identified in a US security company report as having been used in the past by a Chinese hacker group. It infects a computer the moment the USB drive is inserted.

The team that investigated the USB drives indicated in the internal document that similar counterfeit Chinese-made products appear to be widely available on e-commerce sites both in Japan and internationally.

Similar products, including the brand obtained by the GSDF, are sold at nearly half the market price through major online platforms like Amazon and Rakuten Group sites.

Most are made in China, and many buyers claimed in online reviews that they had received counterfeit products. Viruses may be installed when the pirated products are assembled.

Various industries also use USB drives in the same way as the GSDF to transfer data from systems not connected to the internet, including healthcare, education, manufacturing and finance. This makes infected USB drives a cybersecurity risk for wide swaths of society.

Despite being aware that potentially compromised USB drives were available online, the SDF chose not to go public with that information.

“In February 2025, a USB drive acquired by the JGSDF Middle Army headquarters was found to contain malware,” the GSDF public relations office said in a statement.

How are folks liking driverless taxis in China? Are there any major pushbacks that you see in the West? I'm all for advancement in tech and I hate dealing with taxi drivers.

What's with the sidewalk construction on 12th Ave SW?

What's with the sidewalk constructions on 12th Ave SW? I know they are adding tactile paving for those who are visually impaired but my question is this....was there a lawsuit against the city? All those constructions to add tactile pavings seems to be really expensive.
