I had a Siemens esprimo q5020 in my possession for a while (originally bought it for S-Video out) that I wanted to port some legacy OS onto. First I tried Vista but there were no WiFi drivers for the card that was in the PC so I switched to win7.

My current thoughts are... what now? I have the OS installed but I can't think of any actual uses for it. Basically the only thing I do on it is playing solitaire, freecell and purble place.

What do you guys use your win7 PCs for? Because I genuinely can't think of anything to do with mine.

Just like last time I posted here before, I'm still looking for ways to sanitize a glass container the size of one litre. Starsan is unfortunately incredibly expensive and I don't plan to brew more in the future so I don't need an entire litre of it afterwards.

What I do have however is a 3% h²o² concentrate that I heard could be used for sanitising vessels. My questions are:

How effective is hydrogen peroxide as a sanitizer?

How to use it for sanitation? Do I just pour some into the vessel, shake it around a bit, let it sit for a few minutes and dump it out, or do I need to submerge the vessel in it?

Is it no-rinse? Or should I rinse it afterwards because it could spoil the brew/potentially poison it?

I've noticed that whenever the clicks team talks about the Communicator, they never use "the", instead saying sentences like "I've been using Communicator as a secondary phone" or "here's how the case will look on Communicator."

Is there a trademark issue when you use "the" in front of a name of your trademarked product? Or why do they do it?

I'm looking to brew a small test batch (think 1l or even less) of alcohol and I'm having issues with how I would go about sterilising my vessel (the vessel I want to use is a 1l or 1.5l demijohn without braiding).

The biggest issue with sterilisation is the fact that I can't seem to find starsan in small enough quantities for sale that would fit my experimental needs and the starsan on sale in quantities of a litre and more costs around 40$ per bottle, which is an insane price and would be more expensive than the rest of the project combined.

I was therefore thinking about whether I could sterilise my demijohn by first rinsing it in warm water, then placing it in a cold oven and heating it up to 100 or 120°c to sterilise it by heat. I understand that glass and heat changes don't really like eachother, but I already have experience with putting ikea glass bottles in my dishwasher and then baking them in an oven and they withstood it just fine.

Does anyone here have experience with using an over for sterilising? If yes, would you recommend it?

I just finished reading chapter 14 as fast as possible because holy hell was it torturous to read it.

The whole chapter is incredibly confusingly written, being nothing but disorganised and nonsensical conversations of Artyom and Sasha (at least I think it was only the two of them) and both were so annoying and cringeworthy in how they spoke. It was like reading a conversation that two people had through three different social networks in chronological order and those two people were also the most trashy methheads that you could imagine. Add to that the most cringeworthy sex scenes that would feel more in place in an AO3 fanfic than in a Metro book.

This chapter was the first chapter in the book where I actually had to pull up the synopsis to see what was going on because I could not even understand who was in the chapter from all the characters in the book. FUCK did this chapter piss me off.

I recently upgraded my PC from a ryzen 7 2700 in an ASUS Prime B450M motherboard and a GTX 1660ti to a ryzen 5 5600 in an ASUS Prime B550 Plus motherboard with an rx6900xt. The RAM, PSU, Storage and peripherals stayed the same. The OS also stayed the same, being a home copy of Windows 11.

Upon replacing the CPU and motherboard I noticed a strange behaviour when I went to change the speaker source: my audio output sources appeared to constantly flicker, as if they were being refreshed every second or so. I thought nothing of it and turned the PC off.

Today I installed the new GPU in the PC and upon booting up a game (Hitman), the audio kept constantly cutting out and the cursor kept returning to the centre of the screen. I then tested a different game (Metro Exodus) and it had the audio issue as well.

After this I decided to check device manager and to my shock the devices in device manager behaved exactly the same as the audio sources! They kept flickering and refreshing themselves whenever they wanted which meant that fixing issues with them was a real hassle.

I decided to uninstall and reinstall drivers using windows uninstaller and getting rid of all the companion apps like AMD Adrenalin (which was also being weirdly laggy and sluggish so I thought it was an issue with the program) and Armory Crate, but that didn't fix it.

I also tried installing windows updates (which always got stuck at 7% and then failed but that's a problem for a different day), but the problem disappeared only after I uninstalled all audio drivers. After that I restarted the PC and the problem began again, but I knew it was some audio driver. I remembered that when I used my PC yesterday for discord it kept suggesting me a new audio device by the name of USB microphone, so I tried disabling that one and wouldn't you know it, the issue was gone!

Now I know the cause: a driver by the name of USB Audio Device/USB Microphone, which seems to be a generic Microsoft driver and it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting itself every second. It also doesn't seem to be influenced by my actual USB microphone since when I tried booting my PC up with it unplugged, the USB Microphone driver started misbehaving again (my USB Microphone is also detected as WOER).

The issue I have now is that I don't know how to get rid of the driver. Whenever I click the ❌ in device manager the problem disappears, but only until I turn the PC off. After turning it on again the driver reinstalls itself and begins wreaking havoc again. Here is where I ask for help: does anyone know about problems with this driver and if yes, how do I uninstall it permanently? I forgot to add that simply forbidding it did not help, only the ❌ of deactivation helps.

I'm currently seeking to upgrade my PC from a 1660ti and one of the games I want to play with my new GPU is First Light. I have a 1440p 75hz monitor and I want to play the game at 1440p because from my experience 1080p looks grainy and washed out on my monitor.

I'm currently deciding between a 3070 and a 6700xt. I saw that the official requirements for 1440p want me to have at least 12GB of VRAM (which the 6700xt has), but I also heard that the 3070 is more powerful. I therefore want to ask what specs do you have and (especially if you have a 3070 or a 6700xt) how well the game runs for you.

I'm currently in the middle of a full PC upgrade and I want to swap my 1660ti for something more powerful while fitting into a 200-350€ budget.

There's a used PC parts store local to me that has a lot of 3000 series Nvidia and 6000 series AMD GPUs and I'm deciding between getting a 3070 or a 6700xt.

The AMD GPUs are all noticeably cheaper (anywhere from 10 to 20€) and I can also see that they have more VRAM. However whenever I look at benchmarks it seems like the 3070 beats the 6700 in almost all games framerate-wise.

My PC has a ryzen 5 5600 and 16 gigabytes of ram in it and I plan to play games at 1440p 75fps. I mostly play Hitman, Metro games and BeamNG drive, so mostly 3D rendered games. Would it be better for me to get the 3070 or does the 6700 make more sense?

Let's not beat around the bush here: stateside scramble was unbalanced. At no point was there a moment when Badam needed to catch up to Samy and the game was essentially decided from the first obtained state. This is the opinion I saw on here recently.

However, I don't think this is an issue of stateside scramble itself, instead being an issue of games in the US as a whole.

Think about battle 4 America: in that game you also never really had a moment when Sam and Brian were in the lead and the game was essentially just about them two catching up to Badam.

Season 8 was also massively imbalanced and in fact I'd say it was even less balanced than the previous two games, with the end being essentially decided by the first challenge.

I therefore feel like the issue isn't stateside scramble, but the United States as a gameboard itself is the issue.
