Have you ever built a commander just because the idea sounded interesting, but didn’t really expect much from it at first?

Sometimes those decks end up being the biggest surprise. After a few games, you realize they’re way more fun than you thought they would be, even if they don’t look that impressive on paper.

I’ve noticed those kinds of decks often stick around much longer than the ones I built just because they were supposed to be “good.”

What Switch games are your “always come back to it” comfort picks

Not necessarily your favorite game of all time. I mean the game you can put down for months, pick it back up, and immediately get into again.

I have a few games like that where I don’t even need a reason to play them. They’re just comfortable to come back to. What’s that game for you?

I’ve noticed that for me it’s usually games that don’t require me to “re-learn” a lot of systems every time I return. Something with a familiar loop or just really smooth controls tends to stick in that category.

I’m curious if other people feel the same way, or if your “always come back to it” game is more about nostalgia, multiplayer, or just pure gameplay comfort.

anyone else keep going back to random cheap games they bought on a whim?

picked up a super cheap game during a sale last week just because it looked interesting. didn’t expect much from it but somehow i’ve already put more hours into it than some full-price games i own.

curious if other people have those random budget titles that end up becoming regular go-tos. always interesting hearing which ones actually stick.

is it weird to still get excited about cheap upgrades?

picked up a couple of inexpensive cards the other day for one of my commander decks and felt way happier about it than i expected. nothing fancy, just small pieces that made the deck feel better.

sometimes the cheap upgrades end up feeling more satisfying than the expensive ones. wondering if anyone else gets that same feeling when they finally slot in a budget card that just works.

What’s a hero or strategy you’ve been enjoying that isn’t the current top tier?

Curious what people are having fun with outside the absolute strongest decks. Any heroes or game plans you’ve been enjoying lately that still feel competitive enough to bring to locals?

Cards that feel stronger in actual games than they look on paper

I’ve been noticing a few cards that don’t look crazy when you read them but keep overperforming once they’re on the board. What’s something you’ve played (or played against) that feels better in practice than the text suggests?

What TCG has the best “first time playing” experience for complete beginners?

How do you handle players who play excessively slow during timed rounds?

Slow play in competitive timed rounds is one of the trickiest situations to manage properly. During my last event, I ran into a situation where my opponent took over three to four minutes per turn during Game 3, repeatedly reviewing the graveyard and re-reading basic cards they had played earlier in the match, resulting in an avoidable time-extension draw. It's always tough to gauge whether someone is genuinely struggling with a complex decision or intentionally stalling to preserve a game score when the clock is ticking down. What is the most polite and effective way you’ve found to handle slow play at your local shop, and at what point do you call a judge over?

What’s your biggest pet peeve during local game night matches?

Local game nights are usually the highlight of my week, but nothing sours a fun casual match faster than poor game night habits. For me, the absolute biggest annoyance is when an opponent constantly flicks their hand cards loudly every two seconds or refuses to clearly announce their game actions, phases, and triggers. Clear communication is what keeps matches running smoothly, whereas rushing through steps silently or aggressively shuffling cards while someone is trying to resolve an effect creates unnecessary tension. What is your personal pet peeve during local tabletop events, and how do you usually address it at the table without creating drama?

Which booster set has your favorite overall artwork regardless of card value?

Sometimes an expansion hits the mark so well artistically that I don't even mind missing the big chase cards. Looking back across the sets we've gotten so far, which one stands out to you as having the most cohesive and incredible card art from top to bottom?

I think I was overthinking the price of my print-and-play

I originally priced my small TCG PnP really low because I wanted more people to try it. What surprised me was how much support some buyers expected for a very small purchase. I was spending more time answering questions and making little changes than actually designing. I eventually raised the price slightly and focused more on improving the game itself.

For other indie designers, how do you decide what to charge for early versions?

I spent months balancing my TCG before actually testing it

I got way too caught up in making the resource system “work” on paper. I kept tweaking costs, curves, and resource rules without ever asking the more important question: is the game actually fun? When I finally made a basic paper version, the answer was… not really. Big lesson for me: test the core loop first, then worry about the clever systems.

How early do you guys usually start playtesting?

Does anyone else feel like dialing in a new bag always ruins the first few mornings?

ust picked up a new light roast and spent three days pulling absolute garbage shots while trying to find the right grind size. Half the bag is gone just trying to get rid of the sourness, and by the time it actually tastes good, I'm almost out of beans. Do you guys have a trick to speed this up, or is wasting coffee just part of the deal?

Which JRPG soundtrack do you still listen to outside the game?

There are certain tracks that get stuck in my head long after I’ve finished a game. Sometimes I don't even need to hear the whole song before I remember exactly where I heard it in the game.

Which JRPG soundtrack has stayed with you?

Which Vanguard clan do you think has the most memorable design?

When I first looked into Vanguard, one of the things that stood out was how each clan had its own theme and visual style.

Some clans have a design that immediately tells you what kind of world or characters they represent, even before knowing how they play.

Which clan has the strongest identity for you, and what makes its design stand out?

What made KeyForge stick with you compared to other card games?

One of the things that makes KeyForge interesting is that every deck feels like it has its own identity instead of being built the usual way.

I think that creates some unexpected moments because you end up learning the strengths and weaknesses of a deck that is already unique.

For those who still play KeyForge, what is the main thing that keeps you coming back?

Is there a Final Fantasy character whose cards always catch your attention?

One thing I enjoy about Final Fantasy TCG is seeing how different characters are represented through the artwork.

Some characters have cards that instantly stand out because the illustration captures their personality, an iconic scene, or just a really memorable style.

For me, the artwork can sometimes make me appreciate a character even more. Which character do you think consistently gets some of the best-looking cards?

What got you into collecting hockey cards?

I always find it interesting how people get into this hobby. Some collectors start because of a favorite player, a childhood memory, or simply finding a card that catches their attention.

For some people, collecting becomes something they enjoy for years, while others come back to it after taking a break.

What originally got you interested in hockey cards?

Lorcana does a great job turning moments into illustrations

One thing I like about Lorcana is that many of the cards feel like small scenes rather than just character images.

The expressions, backgrounds, and little details help create a sense of what is happening in that moment. It makes each card feel like it has its own story.

That attention to the atmosphere of each illustration is something I really appreciate about the game.
