In Iron Man, does the arc reactor have any real life science ideas or principles applied?

The Iron Man suit is powered by the arc reactor and its basically an ultra super condensed battery that can power anything and its renewable energy on top of that. I know that the arc reactor is fictional and that the vast majority of it is made up stuff. My question is if there is any real life science that is applied to the arc reactor? In Iron Man 2 there is a plot point where the palladium behind the arc reactor is poisoning Tony so he created a new element to fuel the energy and that is used for the rest of his appearances. So creating a new element stuff can be ignored, but in IM1 we know that one of the core components behind the arc reactor is palladium. So from what we know about the arc reactor technology, is there any real life science that is being applied to the fictional energy source?

Spider-Man's overhead slam should spike the opponent

Title. I was playing smash ultimate and I was playing Diddy Kong for the lols (I don't main the character if anyone is wandering) and I spiked my opponent with down air. Diddy Kong's down air is a overhead slam similar to Spider-Man in this game. So it gave me the idea that if Spidey overhead slams an opponent, they go downward. This will be applied to mostly niche scenarios if I'm being honest but it can yield fun clips. I'm thinking pulling an opponent off the map but then they by time by flying in the air so you overhead slam spiking them off stage.

How y’all feel about the CC in the game?

I am of the opinion that there is too much CC in the game. There are too many characters that have CC that shouldn’t have it and then characters that have too many CC abilities. And I find this to be particularly frustrating with Season 9 because everyone got teamups. I’m not a Strat main by any means, the only Strat lord I have is Invisible Woman and it’s only because I’m a Fantastic Four fan.

To be clear, I do not think that CC should not be in the game period but I do think that there should be a crack down on it because it is too prevalent. I find it very frustrating when I’m playing dive and I bait out one cooldown but then the support has another cooldown that I cannot counter or do anything that leaves me in a vulnerable state and die immediately. An example of this is Luna. I don’t mind that Luna has a snowball, while the hitbox on the ability is jank it is her primary defense tool. But if I’m engaging a Luna and block her snowball with Iron Fist’s parry, then I should win that matchup. But right now in season 9, I can block the snowball but then not have any defense for the fox spirit which then puts me in CC and in those few seconds I die.

While I am using a dps as an example, I think it’s especially a problem for the tanks. Tanks are CC magnets where now because of the CC increase they have less tools to offset the damage. I had a game as Captain America where I was disrupting the backline and as I was retreating, I got hit with White Fox’s spirit Fox followed by a Luna Fox and because of the enhanced teamup the Fox hits twice and then the Luna snowball. Fox -> Fox -> Fox -> Snowball. I died and I couldn’t do anything about it. Sure I could have shielded the first Fox but I was retreating so I wasn’t looking at the enemy when they CC chained me. I think it’s a little unfair that I lost 600 hp because I got hit with one CC that led to a chain reaction. Yeah I’m using two dive examples but it doesn’t just extend to them. If a tank gets kidnapped now there’s less defense for them as they are more likely to get CC’d. I played Strange, got kidnapped by Emma into the enemy team and I didn’t get a chance to fly away with my cloak.

So I ask as the role which is significantly the lesser target for CC how y’all feel about it? Do you guys think CC is a problem even as Strat mains or do you guys think it’s fine? There is a reason why the best character in the game right now have high CC (Luna, Thing, CnD, Elsa, Gambit etc.) or have extreme protection against CC (Magneto, Thing, Luna, Black Cat, etc.)

Is Spider-Man not good this season or is it a skill issue?

Title. The mid season patch notes saw zero real support nerfs and Spidey’s counters (which were already meta) were unchanged or better with the exception of Peni. Dino was buffed, Venom a dive parter was nerfed. And characters that Spidey is good against got buffed so his winning matchups aren’t as winning. Cyclops, Phoenix, and Moon Knight aren’t as winning matchups anymore. I also find Spidey’s teamups to be very underwhelming. Are my critiques accurate or is this a case of skill issue? I know that there is some truths because in high level Spidey isn’t dominant as he used to be but how much is it because the meta or the player

Lady Loki nerf

The season 9.5 patch noted that Loki is getting buffed and specified “HIS magical armaments” are getting better. They don’t say anything about Lady Loki getting buffs. This means that male Loki is getting buffed while Lady Loki gets nothing besides cosmetics

These are the LoL characters that I am interested (almost exclusively from design), how would they play if/when they are introduced into 2XKO?

I know Ahri is in the game, I have only played the game for about an hour and she’s so far the only character I play paired with Yasuo. I have no connection to LoL and while I did enjoy Arcane, Jayce is also not in the game and he’s my favorite character in the show.

I want to play the game more after playing the beta for Marvel Tokon but my most anticipated characters aren’t in the game for the most part. When they do get added how will they play?

I have realized why Mr. Fantastic sucks

For the longest time I never knew what Fant was missing that made him so bad. I know that he's bad but I could not explain why. Playing the character (I have reached lord with him), my biggest complaint was that many times I felt like I was doing nothing. It felt like my team was playing a 5.5v6 instead of a 6v6. I have now realized why that is the case. Mr. Fantastic does not have any burst damage. Every single dps character in the game has burst damage with the exception of Mr. Fantastic and Scarlet Witch, coincidentally they are some of the worst characters in the game. Even Squirrel Girl has burst damage.

Burst damage comes in many different forms. For poke characters, it comes from headshots. Almost all poke characters can two tap squishies by hitting 2 headshots, that is burst damage. Looking at dive, they get their burst by using their abilities in succession as they are meant to be combo'd with each other. Reed has neither. His abilities are slow that they are can't combo into each other very quickly and he doesn't have a way to increase his damage from his neutral gameplay. In theory his burst damage comes from his big mode except his damage goes from 70 -> 80 which is only a +10 damage increase and also big mode has some of the lowest dps among the entire cast. Reed is a terrible character because he has some of the highest ttk among the entire dps role.

How to fix this? Obviously the solution is to give Reed a burst damage option but what should that be? I think that Reed's burst damage should be punching people in the face. Reed's primary is a punch but the game registers it as a beam. Make it so that if Reed punches someone in the face, it is treated as a headshot which is a 2x damage multiplier. That change alone I think will make Reed go from an F tier character to at least a C tier if not higher and actually make him viable. And to do even more buffs, Reed's third melee attack is using both hands but it does the same damage. If he's punching with 2 hands it should do more damage. Iron Man has a gimmick where his first two attacks are one handed but his second attack is two handed so the damage is slightly different for his third primary attack. Have Reed do the same thing. Make his one handed punches 70 damage but his two punch attack should do 120 damage.

It is not a secret that Mr. Fantastic sucks for a lot of reasons but I think this is the number 1 reason why. Obviously the other problem is that big mode is automatic and not something you can control but having manual big mode is a QoL buff and not an impactful gameplay buff. If it was then Fant would see more play with the Rocket teamup but you don't. The Thing teamup is better and that one still sucks too.

Spider-Man VOD review help

My getting back into playing Spider-Man and I’m getting my butt handed to be badly, especially in comp. Even in games that I win, my stats look really bad I comparison to my teammates that it makes me look carried. Yes I know that the scoreboard doesn’t show everything but it is still largely correlated. It feels very frustrating because I feel like I know what I should be doing but my aim and mechanical skill are so bad that it’s ruining how I play the character. I am a console player and while some of that can attribute to my lesser aim, I feel like it shouldn’t be this bad. So I’m asking for some help. Here are a plethora of games y’all can watch and comment on to explain what I’m doing wrong and what I can do better. These are a combination of both quickplay and comp games. Some of these replays might be quickplay bots but I’m not 100% sure but I did try to not list those replays. Also I know one of these replays shows me playing Human Torch, I played Spidey 95% of the game and swapped at the end because it was a one sided beating.

- 10486681101
- 107888116770
- 103551108308
- 104477104666
- 107219103998
- 107219103736
- 10860193071 (uber Spidey diffed that swapped to Daredevil so not a complete Spidey game)
- 10253699180

I played a few more games after this but I am too lazy to list out all the replay codes. I assume y’all can see my profile from the replays so if you want to see more games then by all means. I know I had another game where I went 5-11 and got omega Spidey-diffed.

Just to be clear, I am asking for free advice. I am not asking for paid coaching session. I understand if you are not interested because I am asking for a lot (your time). This is completely optional and do not feel pressured to watch these replays. Anyone giving advice or criticism, your help is appreciated. Also for kicks and giggles y’all can roast the gameplay if it’s your cup of tea.

What if there was a Smash tournament where the top 7 characters on the tier list and Min Min are banned?

I watched a video by Vars lll where he was talking about hype vs lame characters in smash, his most recent video at the time of writing. That made me think about how if you remove the top 7 characters on the list (Steve, Sonic, Snake, GnW, Rob, Aegis, and Kazuya) and Min Min then the available characters become much more manageable for the rest of the cast but also the games become more exciting to watch. Would tournaments be better off with those characters banned?

Invisible Woman says “Flame on” more in the game than Human Torch.

Title. Invis has the Human Torch teamup and anytime you throw your shield with the teamup, she can say “Flame on”. Human Torch rarely says his catchphrase in the game, I think the only instance is when he’s coming out of respawn. So not only do you have to die but also there’s only a small chance for him to say it. Also I think there is a possibility of him saying it at the start of a match when you enter the game after character select but my memory might be wrong about that. The devs made Invisible Woman say the Human Torch’s catchphrase more often than the Human Torch. What the actually fuck. To be very clear, this is not hate towards Invis, it’s hate towards the devs for having this in the first place. There is a very simple solution to this, make Johnny say “Flame on” when you select him during the character select. This is one of my favorite characters in Marvel and in general and it’s terrible seeing how the devs are treating him.

On a side note, I find the Storm teamup underwhelming. A 20 second cooldown for a Invis gravity ball just isn’t worth it. It could be a 10 second cooldown and I don’t think it would be OP. Jubilee teamup is so much better IMO.

Thoughts on Season 9 Spider-Man Day 1

I played season 9 like most people and I mostly played Spidey and I want to talk about how I feel about the character. I have been playing Spider-Man since season 0 and he was my first lord, however after season 3 I did take a long break from the character because he got gutted that season losing the teamup bonus and didn't get enough compensation and to me he felt terrible. While I did play him periodically on and off, I never locked in and played the character seriously and focused on other characters more. The reason why I am bringing up all this backstory is because everything I am about to say has a giant asterisk that is "skill issue". Yes I know that I have a skill issue. I do plan on playing Spidey for the majority of the season to get my groove back.

Looking at the Symbiote teamup, I think that it was over nerfed. I agree with the majority of the general playerbase that the Symbiote teamup was a little too overpowered so it coming back meant that it needed to be nerfed compared to how it was in Season 0. Season 0 Symbiote teamup was so overpowered that it single handedly made Spider-Man who was typically a B tier character into an S tier character despite being a 30 second cooldown back then. The teamup was able to Touch of Death 275 hp targets pretty easily. I get why the teamup had to be nerfed heading into Season 9, but I think that it was nerfed a little too heavily. The game has evolved since Season 0 and is not the same nearly two years later. Back then the majority of squishies were 250 hp but now there are more 275 hp targets than 250 hp targets. Season 9 teamup now works that in order for Spidey to Touch of Death a 250 hp target, he needs to hit 2 web clusters -> bread and butter -> "the Symbiote Spider-Man returns"/"Partners like the old days". 3 clusters for 275 hp targets. I think this was an overcorrection. I think that the teamup should be buffed where it can Touch of Death 250 hp targets but requires 2 clusters for 275 hp targets. I don't know about y'all but I would be okay if the teamup was nerfed to a 20 second cooldown in exchange for a damage buff to what I mentioned earlier.

Now for the Peni teamup. This teamup is easily the better of the two teamups and it the one with the higher ceiling. In comp this should be the teamup to pick but I still have (skill) issues with it. I don't what I am doing using it. The problem that I have is that I find it too hard to use. Activating the teamup creates an animation and then I have 4 seconds to attach the bomb to an enemy. This creates a situation to where I have to activate the teamup, aim and fire the bomb within 4 seconds, then aim the cluster before being able to do the bread and butter. Even if I change the order, I still have a hard time doing web cluster -> activate teamup -> aim and shoot web bomb -> bread and butter. There is massive reward with the teamup with the overhealth it gives but I have a hard time using it. I would like the teamup to get a buff where the explosion timer is longer but you can manually trigger the bomb. I play on console (Playstation) so the prompt is Triangle for me. I would like the teamup for Peni to where you activate it and then once the bomb is fired, you can press Triangle to detonate the bomb. I don't think it would be an overpowered buff and give more agency to the Spider-Man player (me).

Overall looking at the Spider-Man teamups, they are not bad. I have been dissing on them for the last two paragraphs but they are not terrible teamups, they are still better than the likes of Squirrel Girl and Wanda etc. That said I do think that they are underwhelming and could use a super minor buff, +5 damage of Symbiote teamup and a manual detonation on Web Bomb. Am I cooking with these changes? Is my entire essay reasonable, logical, and correct or is my skill issue truly that bad? Also where can I find a guide on how I can use the Peni teamup properly.

I think Bioshock 1 would benefit greatly from a remake

I recently played Bioshock 1 for the first time and I can’t help but feel slightly disappointed by it. Going into this game, I did know about the plot twist but my issues are more than that. I get that the game came out in 2007, it’s almost 20 years old which is why I think it could benefit from a remake. I found the gameplay to be slightly clunky and the story to be very short.

Looking at gameplay, I thought that the weapon transition could be smoother and also the health and eve resources to be very fleeting. I never felt satisfied whenever I picked up alcohol, cigarettes, candy bars etc. The core gameplay I thought was good but felt very clearly outdated. This is my biggest reason why I would like a remake to see modern gameplay elements be used for the game, particularly the Remake Resident Evil games. This also extends to some elements of the UI, I like the aesthetic of the UI being 1960s theme but sometimes it was annoying trying to read the map.

As for the story, as I said earlier I knew about the plot twist so I was more focused on the presentation. And I found the story to be really short which affected how I viewed the plot. The surprise of "Would you kindly" to Frank Fontaine's reveal was about 2 minutes when its something that I felt should have been longer. Honestly I think that if I did not know about the twist before hand then the reveal would have gone over my head. This also affected how I saw both Andrew Ryan and Atlas as pretty weak characters. They have a lot of potential but we have so few moments of them that I do not feel too strongly about them. I think a remake could let the reveal be more impactful and not feel as rushed

Overall I did enjoy my time playing Bioshock. I did not sing any praises in this post which gives off the idea that I did not like my time so I want to make it clear that I did. I do think this is a good game and can understand the elements that made it so beloved. I like the setting, the worldbuilding, the vibes are immaculate. Those things are timeless even after playing this game for the first time 20 years after its release. But I also think that it has some dated elements and would benefit tremendously with a remake.

Just beat Curse of the Moon, Miriam is so overpowered

Title. Just finished Curse of the Moon, short game took me 4 hours to beat the base game. I enjoyed playing it but I can’t help but talk about how overpowered Miriam is. What made me get this game was because it’s a successor to Castlevania which is a franchise I enjoy, and Miriam being the reincarnation of Richter from Rondo of Blood was very nice. It’s not even the fact that she has a whip for most range, it’s the fact that she has the highest jump that puts her over the edge in my eyes. Very rarely did I think to myself that I want to use Zangetsu or Alfred. I did use a lot of Gebel because his attacks are very useful and because he can farm potions from candles if I don’t want to switch weapons. It also doesn’t help that she has the second highest hp out of everyone in the party besides Zangetsu. Between the whip for range, extra jump height, a slide for tunnels, she is incredibly OP in the game.

The women’s swimsuit are not goon enough

Looking at the men’s swimsuit, they are slutty and I’m all for it. They are wearing speedos and the trunks like Mr. Fantastic are so short that they’re basically speedo. This is not the case for the women. 99% of the women are wearing a one piece swimsuit or close to one piece with the only exception being Cloak and Dagger. I don’t know why NetEase refuses to put more characters in two piece bikinis. F it, I would prefer the women in 2 piece bikinis but I’ll also take some of the men too. Put Wolverine in a bikini. The women have abs, let me see them in costume instead of the boring one piece swimsuits. Savage Land Hela is a better swimsuit skin than the likes of Emma and Black Widow and White Fox.

What do y’all think of Carol’s short haircuts?

New Avengers series by Chip Zdarsky and Captain Marvel is a part of it. And her haircut is something to say the least. What do y’all think of Marvel having Carol’s hair be a short? I don’t read the character so my opinion is based mostly on her appearance and I do not like it, I prefer long hair instead of that

I am saddened by Mega Scolipede

Title. Scolipede is one of my favorite Pokémon’s and I was excited when it was leaked that it was getting a mega evolution. And all that excitement went down the drain when the mega was revealed and it was less than stellar.

I do not like the design of the mega, I don’t like the armored look. The armor reminds me of Escalavier which is a pokemon that isn’t related to it (Escalavier is related to Accelgor), despite it getting armor it doesn’t gain the steel typing, and the stat spread I think is even worse. I appreciate the +50 to its attack stat but the -50 to its speed is crippling. In return they invested a lot to its bulk of 149/99 def and spdef which sounds good until you realize that it’s hp stat is 60. Scolly is deceptively not as bulky as it looks. You might think that a pokemon like Hatterene is known for its bulk despite a 57 base hp stat. But Hatterene has access to Draining Kiss and can hold Leftovers to regenerate hp. Scolipede doesn’t even get Leech Life. It has no way to generating hp for itself as far as I know. I will admit that I have not checked if it gets Leech Life in champions but I will assume it doesn’t.

So to me the only thing that could salvage it was its ability. Speed boost is most likely off the table to the armor design, maybe it could get something to give a pseudo steel typing in reference to its armor, it’s pokedex entry talks about its lethal venom so maybe it might get an ability to bolster poison type attacks, the point is that even though Scolly’s stats are against its favor it can still work depending on the ability. It gets Shell Armor. Shell Armor. That’s so good right? 60/149/99 bulk and you can’t crit it.

I legit think that base Scolipede is better than its mega counterpart. Base Scolly has access to life orb and can take advantage of speed boost. Mega Scolly, even with +1 speed can’t consistently outspeed the high speed tiers or scarf users. All Mega Scolly is good for is tanking 1, maybe 2 hits before dying. And it’s slow so it probably won’t be able to take out a second Pokémon before getting knocked out.

I am saddened by Mega Scolipede, it was a chance for one of my favorite pokemon to be relevant in the higher tier of pokemon both vgc and/or Smogon and I don’t think it will make an impact in either. Do y’all think that my assessment is wrong? Is there a way to salvage Mega Scolly and have it be good?

How would y’all feel if Blade was a tank?

Title. Another balance patch and another Blade buff except the buffs don’t move the needle. I do not play the character myself but I have seen him more in games and the Blade player does not cook. I have yet to have a game where the Blade player took over a lobby or a player swapped to Blade to save the game. I have had opposite games where the Blade player’s KD ratio is lower than his teammates. The point being that I do not think the Blade buffs moved the needle for the character and is still low tier. But what if he was a tank instead of a dps? Increase his hitbox to the size of Captain America, make his hp around 550-600. I think that might solve a lot of problems with the character. The character can’t do damage which is a problem if he’s in the damage role but not as big of a deal if he’s a tank. He already has some survivability with his block and it would be better if he had more hp. I honestly think that it would help the character a lot and encourage people to play the tank role because people always complain about its lack of players. But as I said in the beginning, I don’t play the character so what do y’all think?

How would the game's philosophy change if the game had continued balance changes?

Looking at Smash Ultimate, the prevailing philosophy that I see is that neutral does not matter as much and the ability to kill takes the most priority. And the current tier list reflects that mentality when many of the top characters being capable of KOing extremely early consistently going as far as being touch of death. This mentality has affected the low ranks where I saw a tweet that said that Ganondorf is more viable than Lucina despite being a worse character because Ganon's ability to kill earlier is more valuable than Lucina's consistency and range. It is fair to say that this mentality is heavily influenced by the fact that the game does not get updated anymore. If there were updates where top tiers got nerfed and other characters got buffed, how would the philosophy of ultimate change? If Steve was unable to place blocks on thin air, if Kazuya wasn't Kazuya and same for Luigi etc. etc. Would neutral be a bigger focus in the game or is the mentality that neutral isn't the most important and advantage matters more for knocking out your opponent an inevitable conclusion?

How good/bad is the Black Panther and Storm relationship?

With Marvel Rivals releasing some content about BP and Storm being married (NOTE: some because it’s few and far between when compared to other couples), people are more invested in their relationship in the game and outside of it. But how is the relationship really? I don’t know much about their relationship but I do remember people not being fans of it. I don’t have definitive statements for it but from memory some complaints I remember online were being that Storm stopped appearing in X-men books and was only in Black Panther but BP stories had to change significantly to accommodate Storm and her powers. This led to a worst of both worlds where X-men fans didn’t get the read about the character they like in their own books and Black Panther fans had worse stories to read because they had to incorporate an overpowered character and explain her role in the story. I also remember reading some claims that said the only reason why the marriage happened was for PR because Marvel was marrying their 2 famous black characters and not because it’s a good relationship. And because the relationship had problems, T’Challa annulled the marriage on his own without Ororo being involved. How valid are these criticisms? Were they real and valid or were they bad faith criticisms and/or racist? How was the relationship actually?

Level 9 Kazuya is terrifying

I recently got a Nintendo Switch 2 and my paid game is Smash Ultimate, my only other game is pokemon champions. Playing this game, Kazuya is cracked. Not just by characters in general, I already know that Kazuya is a top 10 character and a touch of death character. But I would expect this from competitive players. I feel like I am playing Riddles when I am going against Level 9 Kazuya. I am genuinely terrified approaching him because any interaction can end my stock. Side b, dead. Down b, dead. How to competitive players not breakdown at the idea of playing against him in tournaments.
