Wishing it was 18v!

Hey saw this while flipping through goodwill listings. It's a combination drill and radio setup. Really wish it was 18v as I would have bought it just for the coolness factor!

Home addition to Mother's house?

My mother owns land with a small house that we are looking to move into and build her an inlaw suite. We are in the initial planning stage and curious what would be the best way to go about this?

The land is in my mother's name and is paid off. We plan to pay for a large portion of it with our savings but will likely need to take out a loan for the remaining amount.

How would we go about securing a loan for the build? Are we able to do it without the property being in my name or would my mother need to do that?

Appreciate any advice on how we might proceed.

Thinkpad W530 Retro emulation?

Hey all I have had this thinkpad for quite awhile and I am ready to retire it from laptop duties and wondering if it would be able to do a decent job as an emulation machine to hook up to my living room tv to run retro games.

I currently run Windows 11 and Linux Mint in a dual boot on this W530 and am planning to just run linux.

Processor: Intel Core i7-3740QM

Graphics: NVIDIA Quadro K1000M, plus Intel HD 4000

Memory: 32GB DDR3

Storage: Dual 1TB drives

I would like to run ES-DE as my front end and the highest consoles I would like to emulate are PS2, Sega Saturn, and Dreamcast. Is it possible to run on this machine?

Long brawl wait times?

Recently I have had long wait times for matching with someone in Brawl. Typically it's been about 20 secs max and now it's at least 2 mins if not 3 mins. This has only happened on mobile. Anyone else seen this?

Square hole punch suggestions?

Hey family just started to explore the national parks and are getting a picture at the welcome signs to put in our national park passport. I was thinking of punching the bottom of the picture and placing it at the same page. Looks like I need a 5-6 holes punched.

Is this a square hole punch that would do something like this? Size looks to be about 1/4"

111mm Yeoman?

Hey picked up a couple cheap Workchamps during the Walmart clearance sale and thinking it would be cool to create a 111mm Yeoman. Would it be possible to add a magnifying glass?

Keiryu Artificial setup?

Hey traveling to great smokey mountain national Park soon and in the park they only allow artificial bait. Looking for suggestions on setting up my rod for artificial?

Currently I have the rod setup with a level line then about 3 feet of tippet and yarn markers on the level line. Was using live bait with split shot sinkers, but with the park rules I am looking for different setups for artificial lures.

Magnetic Ring?

Hey I bought a X3 from Amazon and love it! The issue I am having is with the metal rings that came with the device. I attached one to the back of my Pixel OG fold and it would stay in place and just slides all over the back of my phone.

Is this normal? Are there better rings that would keep this device in place?

Note: I use my Pixel without a case.

Mower deck repair questions?

Hey have this mower that is in great shape besides the underside of the deck being fairly rusted.

There are 2 pinhole rusted areas and then a large hole.

I was planning to grind/sand away any rust near the pinholes and hole. Then weld the pinholes closed and then put in a patch on the backside but weld it from the inside where you can see it in the picture.

Once welding is done, apply rust dissolver (navy jelly) and then apply paint.

I'm just an amateur welder so wondering if there is a better route to fixing the deck?

How did I do at $600?

I have been searching for a timemaster for awhile and found 1 about an hour away. Seller said they replaced the pulleys, cables, oil change, and sharpened the blades. When looking it over it looked like all was done. When looking over the rest everything looked to be in good shape for a used mower especially at $600. Deck condition was a little hard to tell since it was a little dirty but all seemed solid.

When I got home I started to clean it all up and noticed the underside of the deck was pretty pitted - so last guy never cleaned the underside of the deck it seemed.

Then when I was almost done I found a pretty large hole. About 2"x1" just left where the mulching plug seals the deck. I guess I am disappointed I didn't find it, but it is in a pretty tough spot to inspect and the dirt/grass caked in there area created almost perfect seal lol. Should get me through the season, but any thoughts if I should repair this second or replace with a near frame section?

Note - I did think about buying new, but I dislike the new larger personal pace setup and didn't want to drop $1650 on a setup I don't like.

Picked up my first timemaster!

Hey just picked this Timemaster today and am excited to clean it up and put it to work! I plan to change oil, sharpen the blade etc.

Previous owner did the following work:

New belt

New clutch kit

New throttle cable

Upgraded to timecutter (commercial) pulleys when I had to replace the original.

I think the only thing I would like to add is a fuel shutoff and change the fuel filter. Any recommendations on what to use?

Anything else I'm missing?

Has time ran out for this Timemaster?

Went to check out this used Timemaster today as I would love to pick one up. But this one was rough...

Looks like the front end was smashed on the left wheel and is no longer level. Rear height adjustment is held in place with a bungie cord. You also have to push the personal pace all the way down for it to engage the self-propel and it only slightly moves forward. Also it is rusted all over!

Maybe someone will grab it to fix it up, but it's just too much for me.

Used Toro Timemaster Thoughts?

Hey looking at picking up a used Timemaster. Besides general things to check for with a used mower, any certain things to look for with these?

The one I am specifically looking at they are asking $500 for without the bag and frame. That price seems actually lower than what is available by about $150.

HRR216 Help?

Hey was recently gifted this HRR216. Seems to run well, first I started off with an oil change, spark plug replacement, new air filter and sharpening the blades. But noticed a few issues:

\-The speed control is out of adjustment, the detent for fast is actually slow, slow will kill the engine, and it doesn't go far enough to engage the choke. Is this an adjustment or cable replacement?

\-Makes a clunk sound when engaging the self-propel and the right wheel slips anytime it gets traction. Maybe stripped gear?

\-Support plate (not sure what it's called) in picture 3 is rotted. Is this replaceable?

\-Finally the axle support looks like the bearing was pushed out and ground a groove completely through the support (last picture). Can I flip the support and install a new bearing or do I need to find a replacement?

I have mechanical knowledge but is this too far gone or normal items to repair?

30" Mower recommendations?

Hey I mow a 10,000 sqft yard and have been using a Ryobi 40v mower with a 20" deck. With this mower it takes forever to mow our grass and it struggles with our thick grass.

I am thinking of getting something with a 30" deck in the high end residential to commercial type of walk behind mowers. I will use it at my current property, but will be moving to 3 acres in a few years. While I'll get a riding mower when we move this 30" mower would be good for areas the riding mower can't get to.

Ryobi 40v Mower Problems

Hey have a 40v Ryobi 20" RY401011VNM mower for a few years now and it has always been frustrating to use. Essentially gas has to be bone dry and only slightly taller than the deck height to be cut okay. This year the season has been especially wet and it is impossible to cut our grass. Constant bogging down and no matter what my over lap is the mower leaves a strip of uncut grass that requires me to cut my grass twice to remove.

Wonder if anyone else has these experiences and would any of the other 40v Ryobi mowers offer a better experience? Otherwise I am considering switching back to gas mower since I never had these problems before it was just nice not to have the same maintenance.

Lawn is only 1/4 acre, but very thick grass. Also sharpen the blade every year at beginning of the season.

Cloud Matcha - Ginza Tokyo

Hey I recently went to Japan and tried this Cloud Matcha shop while I was waiting on a reservation. I enjoyed it now I am hooked!

I bought some of their matcha powder while I was there but did not think to buy a whisk while in Japan. Any recommendations on whisk and bowl to buy?
