This wierd belief comes from viewing legs/feet as something unclean but in reality it just depends on how unclean you are legs/feet are not inherently unclean. Its okay to touch books or anything with your feet don't need to respect objects.
Islam is basically the opposite of progressive values and secularism preached by the intellectual spaces but Islam is rarely criticized in those spaces.

Whenever i see a video of a poor man working really hard without any safety equipment and probably getting paid less money. Men in the comment section never empathize with that person or call the system unfair. Instead they comment things like : men 🔥,Men are brave etc. Why can't they understand that the system is being unfair to them and they are encouraging it instead of tearing it down. I thought only the older generation was like this but Our generation is like that too.
