How often do you rely on community apps vs Docker Compose?

I have been relying on community apps everywhere a community app existed, and Docker Compose for services that didn't already have a community app. However, after the recent Immich updates broke things (simple fix, but it did draw my attention to the fact that Docker Compose is Immich's official installation method for unRAID, even over the community apps), it made me question my reliance on community apps.

How heavily do you rely on community apps?

How would you recommend replacing these deprecated plugins?

I've been avoiding doing anything as I have several apps on my server that are using Docker Compose Manager, and I have organized my full Docker screen using FolderView2. But these plugins have been deprecated for quite some time now:

How would you recommend replacing these, especially as I'm actively using them?

I love the price and capabilities of the GPT models, but I can't stand the personality... Is there a way to use a different model for the communication layer between me and the agent, but still use GPT 5.5 or 5.6 for everything else?

What have been the biggest game changers for your Hermes agent?

Like, what tools, plugins, practices, customizations, approaches, agent structure etc?

Are at-home digital dance classes just trending right now?

Because the algorithm knows I am ripe for serving date night products to, I've started getting ads for at home couples dance learning platforms. Because I clicked on a few ads, I'm getting more and more. Every few days to a week over the last few months I've started getting such ads from a whole new business.

Then, last night, I had a prospective client reach out (I'm a web designer) who explained she owns a dance studio and wants such a setup for her own website and business.

Are these just ironically all hitting me at the same time, or is this a trend right now?

Subagents vs Profiles

I've heard that abstracting different agent instances by specialty can improve productivity and performance. So help me understand subagents vs profiles.

As I understand it, Profiles is essentially a way to have several different actual agents, each of which having their own memories, personality, etc.

My understanding is that subagents and subagent delegation in Hermes is simply done via the delegate_task tool which spawns a child instance to allow multiple tasks to be run in tandem.

Can you pre-build subagents for delegating specialties? For example, in Claude Code, I've had projects in which I've built out subagents to specialize in coding, copywriting, marketing, etc. If I had a task that needed some coding but also required input on marketing, the main model would act as orchestrator and spin up the coding and marketing submodels and literally collaborate with them.

Can such a setup be achieved in Hermes? If so, would this require subagents, or would this require profiles? How do profiles communicate with one another and can there be an orchestration layer? Can my main agent independently choose to delegate to other profiles or subagents without me asking it to delegate?

With so many options out there, in your opinion what is the most helpful, effective, and productive AI Agent harness / framework / platform? I want an answer based on your experience using these tools, NOT a sales pitch for a tool you built.

Just a year ago the landscape was completely different. Then, just over 9 months ago OpenClaw was only released. Since then, there's been an onslaught of AI agent tools: IronClaw, Hermes, Genspark, custom solutions built on SDKs, and so, so many that regularly are self-promoting on posts in this sub.

Most lists of the best tools out there are either put together by AI after scraping the web, are paid for, or are outdated (one week old is outdated in this climate).

So, I want to know based on your personal experience with AI agent tools, what is your favorite and how are you using it?

In your experience, what has been the best implementation of AI agentic employees for a business?

I've had the best experience just using Claude or Claude Code, Gemini or Gemini CLI, and ChatGPT or Codex separately and bouncing between them based on what they each do best and where my usage is still available.

However, I've messed with OpenClaw and Hermes and enjoyed it. Hermes seemed to break far less than OpenClaw and to be much more likely to be helpful for someone who is non-technical. However, using Codex directly still seemed to be smarter and more productive than Codex through the OpenClaw or Hermes harness.

I've custom build my own sort of harness, really just a framework, over the top of Claude Code locally on my computer, and that's been a good experience, but something that would be a bit tricky to replicate for nontechnical users.

I've recently been watching Genspark AI videos and I've been really impressed with what I've seen in their agentic examples. However, even though they use the same models their AIs somehow seem to be far more socially awkward, and I'm sure they're primarily showing the good parts and avoiding showing all the big hiccups and debugging.

When it comes to setting up an agent (or multiple agents) for a business, what have you seen to be the most effective?

Recent update breaks SpaceinvaderOne's PostgreSQL community app. Anyone have a good solution?

At least 10M other users have installed PostgreSQL_Immich by SpaceInvaderOne as the database for Immich. This leverages Tensorchord's repo tensorchord/pgvecto-rs:pg16-v0.3.0.

Using the latest version of Immich results in this error:

Error: No vector extension found. Available extensions: vchord, vector

Given that SpaceinvaderOne's app was so popular, surely others have needed to fix this issue as well. If it's better to migrate away from SpaceinvaderOne's app, I'll happily do so, but what have others done to fix a broken Immich after recent updates?

How can an American who can speak Malay work as an expat in Malaysia?

I lived for two years in Malaysia and can speak Malay. I have long desired to work internationally for a few years. I'd love to be a digital nomad, AI has shifted the whole tech industry, but I think it's still possible. But I've often wondered about expatriate work. If someone wants to live and work in a foreign country, but for an American company, how feasible is that? how does one even approach that?

Has anyone gotten MLM-vibes from Northwestern Mutual recruiters around here?

I understand this isn't super Utah-specific, but they have 5 offices across the state; it sounds like they're actively hiring from a lot of cold outreach in our state, at least in Northern Utah; and while Northwest Mutual is not an MLM, people always say Utah is the MLM capital, so I'm trying to see if anyone shares my experience or if I'm overthinking this.

I got an unsolicited message from a Talent Acquisition Partner from NM (Northwest Mutual) talking vaguely about how they're growing and have opportunities and if I'd like to hear more. Well, I'm actually in the market for a new job, so I said yes. Instead of telling me anything about the position, she just straight asked me for my phone number, email, and the best day for a call. I have mutual connections with her, so I gave her my contact info but asked for more information about the opportunity. She never answered my question but rather just sent an email with a "culture fit survey" and a time for the call.

During the call I had to ask what the position even was and she explained it's a financial planner position, but they will pay for training and licensing and you don't even need a degree in finance. This was more a screening call than a real interview., but it was a very strange call — short and rushed, and it almost seemed to be too good to be true. It was made clear I'd be working for Northwest Mutual talking about their locations and whether I'd need to commute, but when I mentioned my study in entrepreneurship she said something about how that was so coincidental because that's essentially what this was. When talking about pay, she said something to the effect of the average pay in the state being $120K but the top whatever percent being paid like $240K, then asked "Would that be ok?" Well... YES that'd be ok, I'd love to make six figures, as would a large portion of the state; but from an unsolicited job opportunity that I don't need prior relevant experience for 🤔? She did say something about one year with six figures, but everything was so fast it was a bit hard to follow.

I'm guessing they're in need of more financial advisors, this recruiter is just doing her job on a tight schedule, and they're just selling the role based off of inflated statistics. But the unwillingness to be upfront about what we'd be discussing, the overinflated numbers of how much I'd make, the comparison to running your own business, and the somewhat pushy nature around soliciting personal information and discussing next steps just took me right back to the many calls I've gotten sucked into in the past with Vector Marketing (Cutco knives sales MLM), and summer sales bros.

Has anyone had experience either working at Northwestern Mutual or working with a recruiter? I'd love to think I'm one of a few selected for a position that's likely to make me six figures, but it really does just feel like summer sales or an MLM all over again.

Help me help a bird (and identify it as I'm curious)?

EDIT: We've got someone heading over to take care of this little guy.

As of a thirty minutes ago, I drove past this little guy who isn't flying but rather just hopping around on the road and shoulder of the road just east of the intersection of 6800 S and 4000 W in Mt Sterling (Wellsville). I'm not sure if it's injured or juvenile, but I drove by it 5 times and it never flew, was just hopping around. He did kinda half fly into the grass once, but didn't get much distance off the ground.

When I stopped to get the picture, I thought I could hear a hawk screeching up above, either flying or in the trees on the other side of the street. I thought this guy was about a foot tall, maybe just under that. I'm not sure how big they get, maybe it's a juvenile that fell from the nest, or an injured adult that can't get to its nest? I posted this on Facebook and someone said he's been there a while because he almost hit the same bird yesterday on his way home.

I've been told that the US Fish and Wildlife Services have jurisdiction over raptors, so I tried calling the bird sanctuary (that's the closest office as far as I know), but I can't get a hold of anybody.

How's living on Pulau Gaya (Gaya Island) by KK in Sabah, Malaysia?

I lived in Malaysia for 2 years (I'm American). I spent time living in Kota Kinabalu, and during those months I visited Pulau Manukan and Pulau Sapi, but never Pulau Gaya. I spoke with some of my Sabahan friends about how, unlike the two islands I visited which are tourist spots, people have homes on Pulau Gaya. How's living there?

My wife has an ancestor that grew up in the little hillside village of Retje Nad Trbovljami (formerly just Retje), just over hill from Trbovlje. We're in the US and my in-laws went to visit Slovenia to see where ancestry comes from a few months back and the pictures looked gorgeous!

Is my bread machine cook book flawed, or my execution?

We've got the 2025 edition of "The Ultimate Bread Machine Cookbook for Beginners."

Using this cookbook, we've made a few loaves of egg bread, which, among other things, calls for 2 eggs, 3 cups of flour, and 2 tsps of active dry yeast for a 2 lb loaf. The bread was good, but it was always stale the day after baking it.

So, we decided to try Sally Lunn bread. However, for a 2 lb loaf, and size as we were making, it literally called for DOUBLE the eggs, flour, yeast, and just the rest of the ingredients. I was skeptical, but we followed the instructions. However, after 10 minutes of trying to mix, most of the flour hadn't even moved. I assume the recipe is intended for a horizontal bread machine with 2 paddles while we have a vertical one with a single paddle, so we took the ingredients out and mixed by hand.

Just as I was worried, as the dough rose it totally overflowed and pushed its way right out of the bread machine. This was frustrating, but we just removed a good portion of the dough for a second, smaller loaf and let the first loaf continue its thing. The loaf was actually worlds tastier than the egg bread, with tighter crumb, a richer flavor, and it didn't not go stale on day 2. However, I'm just confused how that quantity of dough could have ever worked in any 2 lb bread machine.

Has anyone had this same issue? Is it my recipe book or did I mess up? I'm happy to paste the exact ingredients if that would help.
