Please recommend me a book

Please recommend me a book where the female lead is actually powerful and competent, and it is SHOWN through the story, not just said 20,000 times.

I essentially want to read a female-led power fantasy.

I want her to be ahead of the game. I want her to be one step ahead of everyone. I want her to make smart decisions. I do not want to read about a female lead who keeps making stupid choices just so the plot can move forward.

And if she is mistreated in any way, shape, or form, I want her to take revenge. I do not want endless forgiveness unless it is extremely warranted. I am tired of female leads being abused, humiliated, betrayed, or used, only for the story to act like forgiveness is the ultimate proof of her strength. I want her to actually drive the story.

Romance can be there, but the romantic partner needs to add to her story, not take over it. I do not want an arrogant male lead. I do not want enemies to lovers. I do not want a man who treats her badly and then gets rewarded with romance.

Ideally, I want a green flag love interest. Someone wholesome, supportive, and secure enough to stand beside her without overshadowing her.

Honestly, no romance is even better if the story gives me a genuinely powerful female lead who does not need to be saved every five seconds.

So basically: female lead power fantasy, smart and competent protagonist, revenge when deserved, no unnecessary forgiveness, no toxic romance, no enemies to lovers, and preferably a green flag love interest or no romance at all.

Please give me recommendations.

Give me your best female power fantasy recommendations

I am done.

Every single webtoon that I have read with a male protagonist has amazing power fantasy elements. Not only is the main character strong, but he's also smart, and he's actually allowed to show that he's strong and smart. He doesn't need a different character to constantly come in and save the day. He isn't reliant on his family to solve all of his problems. The character himself is driving the story.

Almost every female MC webtoon I've read has the opposite problem: the story is driving the character.

Most of the time she's abused. Most of the time she'll forgive the abuser and go right back to the people who treated her terribly, even after dying multiple times. Or people constantly mistreat her, and she just tolerates it.

And on top of that, if she wants to accomplish anything, there's almost always someone helping her behind the scenes. Either it's her incredibly rich family funding or enabling everything she does, or it's some man who's in love with her quietly pulling the strings. There is usually very little that she's actually accomplishing entirely on her own. There is always someone propping her up.

I want the female equivalent of the male power fantasy webtoons. I'm so tired of female characters being written like this.

The fact that, despite women not being a monolith, so many authors seem to think that even a "powerful" female lead still needs male characters or her family constantly carrying her through the story is exhausting. The best she can do is get beaten down first so she can eventually rise again EVEN WHEN SHE IS SUPPOSEDLY THE MOST POWERFUL AND THE SMARTEST IN THE KINGDOM🙄

I don't want to see that anymore.

I want an angry female lead who never takes anyone's nonsense, who has god-tier powers and actually uses them. Someone who wins because she's capable, intelligent, and powerful, not because someone else secretly made everything possible for her.

I've actually found more Japanese manga that do this reasonably well. Even if the female leads aren't always as overpowered as their male counterparts, they're at least driving the story themselves instead of needing someone to rescue them every five minutes. [NON ROMANCE BTW, when romance enters the picture the most useless character always will be the female mc]

Can there be more than one outsider?

We know that the current outsider was "created"

If during death of the Outsider, Billie kills the current one, isn't it possible for the remaining cultists to create another one eventually?

I hope they make the areas more diverse in 3.0

Taking inspiration from Subnautica. I would really like a more diverse map. I would be okay with a smaller starting region, if we can get more whimsical region specific fauna that actually looks distinct. That would make exploration so much fun!!!

In response to the post complaining about us in Mommit

This is in response to whoever made the post about us supposedly being vile in Mommit.

Congratulations!! you are in an online space where people are going to share their negative experiences, vent their frustrations, and talk about things they cannot always say in real life. I genuinely do not understand why someone would come to a childfree subreddit, read posts from people discussing their own experiences, feel personally attacked by them, and then make an entire post complaining about it.

We are allowed to talk about why we chose a childfree life. We are allowed to discuss our experiences with poorly behaved children and the adults who refuse to parent them. We are allowed to vent about situations where a lack of parenting negatively affects everyone around us.

What I find interesting is that many of the same people criticizing us also seem unwilling to acknowledge how much the online world has changed because parents have allowed children into spaces that were never intended for them. From Discord to various social media platforms, privacy restrictions and age verification measures are becoming increasingly common. Many adults now have to provide government-issued identification to access services that were previously unrestricted.

You are free to disagree with us. You are free to dislike what is posted here. But if you think a childfree subreddit should never contain complaints about children, parenting, or the social expectations placed on adults, then I am not sure what you expected to find???

If you want to call us rude, unpleasant, or negative, that's your choice. But people here are discussing their own experiences and frustrations. No one is forcing you to read them, engage with them, or make them part of your day.

PS: I made this post because your post was trending overall

How much can you take away from a character before they stop being that character?

Zack Snyder's batman kills.

Sean Murphy's batman is without wealth.

Over the years writers have tried removing wealth, no-kill rule, Bruce Wayne (identity), Gotham City(?), physical abilities, detective skills, sanity, mission and/or his support network (Alfred, Robin, etc.)

The two traits I am most protective of are:

His refusal to surrender to tragedy

His belief that justice matters more than revenge

You can take away the money, the gadgets, Alfred, Wayne Enterprises, and even Bruce Wayne himself. What is Batman's "Ship of Theseus" point? How many pieces can you replace before the character becomes someone else?

The only reason people like summer is because they either have an ac/fan or live in a tropical region where the temperature is not too high

The only reason people like summer is because they have access to air conditioning, fans, or some other cooling system. If all of that disappeared tomorrow, most people would suddenly realize just how miserable summer actually is.

People always say they love the sun, but try living through summer with no electricity, no AC, and no fan. You're drenched in sweat all day, constantly uncomfortable, sluggish, dehydrated, and depending on where you live, the humidity makes it even worse. The entire city smells like sweat and hot pavement.

Meanwhile, winter gets criticized for being cold, but cold is something you can actually do something about. You can wear more layers, use blankets, drink something warm, stay active, and generally make yourself comfortable. With extreme heat, there is only so much clothing you can take off before you run out of options. At some point, you need external cooling to stay comfortable.

People don't love summer. They love air conditioning. Summer is only enjoyable because most of us can escape it whenever we want.

Edit: well at least I posted a wildly unpopular opinion in the sub named unpopular opinion

Tell me about the toughest bosses that you suffered through

I took me 3 months to build the courage to attempt nemesis on standard difficulty. I just beat him on inferno in 5 tries. Never been happier🫠

Pragmata's seven was so annoying and hard. Ra'as Al Ghul in Arhkam City on hard mode was a pain that I wish on no one. All these were very punishing, if you made any mistakes.

Let me hear some of your tales of sorrow😭

I strongly agree with her..

Nahema is right, being a debt slave and reprinting multiple times just to line the pockets of altera forever is not a path I would want for humanity. If given the choice of eradicating humanity vs being a debt slave who does not even own their own consciousness, I would chose the former. NOA needs to be destroyed, the fact that I can be "reset" to my last "good" state is horrific.

Where do you want stand?

What are some financial mistakes you have seen married women make?

Giving all financial control to the husband without auditing anything ever. My mom's sister found this out the hard way. All this time her husband took her money and said they were building wealth together but he had put everything in his and his family's name. He cheated. She has money but feels very stupid to not have looked at things sooner.

What are some other mistakes you have seen women make?

Convient Trauma Response as a defense

Something that I find incredibly annoying is how many manhwa authors use trauma as a shortcut to build relationships quickly instead of actually exploring the effects of trauma.

You see it all the time. The female lead is horrifically abused, tortured, betrayed, neglected, murdered, has her eyes gouged out, gets sent back in time, and somehow the only trauma response she develops is being weird around food or getting nervous in front of a specific person.

Meanwhile, she has absolutely no trust issues, no abandonment issues, no hypervigilance, no suspicion, no emotional distancing, no isolation, no difficulty forming relationships, and no fear of being hurt again. That is what always takes me out of the story🙃

If someone has been betrayed by the people closest to them over and over again, they are not going to trust every attractive stranger that offers them a piece of bread and says a few nice words. They are not going to immediately attach themselves to new guardians, new families, or new love interests because someone was kind to them once.

In real life, people who go through those kinds of experiences often become hypersensitive to changes in behavior. They become cautious, overanalyze, struggle to trust expect abandonment, isolate themselves and question people's motives.

Yet somehow many female leads act like the most sheltered people on the planet despite having some of the most horrific backstories imaginable. Ironically, I often find male leads' trauma much more believable. When male leads are traumatized, they become withdrawn, harsh, emotionally unavailable, distrustful, isolated, and difficult to reach. It usually takes an entire manhwa for them to make meaningful progress.

Female leads, meanwhile, can be tortured, abused, betrayed, and murdered multiple times, only to be completely cured after receiving basic kindness from someone attractive🙄

If you want to use trauma as a plot device, then actually commit to it. Let the female lead struggle. Let her make progress slowly. Let her have trust issues. Let her be suspicious. Let her have moments where her trauma actively affects her decisions. Stop treating trauma as something that only exists until the male lead shows up.

If male leads are allowed entire story arcs to process their trauma, then female leads deserve the same opportunity instead of having their trauma magically disappear the moment someone gives them affection.

One of the least accepted parts of Self Improvement is pivoting

One of the least accepted parts of self improvement is pivoting.

A lot of us keep trying to become our past selves again without realizing that our past selves existed in completely different circumstances. We glamorize old versions of ourselves instead of giving our current selves room to succeed differently.

I was amazing at math in school, so because of parental pressure and societal expectations, I went into computer science because everyone said it was basically math. I was a straight A student before university, so suddenly getting Cs, Ds, and even failing courses destroyed my confidence. I blamed myself for 3 years and convinced myself I was stupid.

What I failed to realize was that I thrived in structured environments, and university computer science gave me almost none of that. No real guidance, no proper structure, and a huge amount of self teaching.

Then I took an elective in statistical math and got an A+ on my first try. That was when I realized maybe I did not need to keep forcing myself into something that was making me miserable just because I had already spent years on it.

So I pivoted into actuarial science. I became an honor roll student again, graduated, and now I have a good job lined up.

The hardest pill to swallow is realizing that the goal you have chased for years might not be right for you right now. But pivoting is not a PERSONAL failure. Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is move toward something that rebuilds your confidence and puts you in a healthier mental space.

You can always come back to the original goal later.

Please make sure your partner has a will

Friend just passed away and his wife was a sahm with 2 kids. He was young and all his assets had his family's (parents and brother) name on it. She was always treated well by them, but now they are not willing to give anything to her and her children. She is very depressed and thought that he had made sure to sort things out for her and her children when she decided to become a sahm. I am helping her find a lawyer but most have said nothing can be done (not in US) because all assets and shares were in his parents name and the money in his business account had his brother's name along with his name. He was part of his family's business. She said that family was never like this and they really meshed well together. I think they were pretending and always treated her as "outsider" by never letting her have an opinion on anything. She was too nice to see how two faced they were. It is an uphill battle.

I hope this helps someone

There needs to be more divorces in India

Way to many people stay in miserable marriages and make the people around them (usually children) miserable as well. Too many men and women, choose to stay in abusive marriages due to the massive sunken cost fallacy of trying to leave. Society should NEVER pride itself in stigmatizing divorce or annulment. It would be normal to leave a marriages if you realize that spouse has changed and not for the better.

No you cannot change change your alcoholic spouse, if they never want to get help. No amount of "family intervention" will change that. No you cannot change a cheater. If you stay with one, you will forever be suspicious of them and constantly either bring that up in fights or vent about it to your family and friends.

If your spouse unilaterally decides that you should be doing all the childcare and does not do anything to stand up to their parents, when they cross boundaries? Divorce

If your spouse cheats on you and decides to blame you for it, taking no accountability? Divorce

If your spouse is emotionally/verbally/physically abusive? Like your dad or mom who you hated growing up? Divorce

If you are a SAHP (stay at home parent) or working partner and your spouse uses your money to invest and enrich themselves without giving you the same financial security? Divorce

If your spouse is addicted to substances/gambling/porn(if you consider that cheating and your spouse knows it) and is not getting any help for it and dragging you and your kids through the mud for it? Divorce

If you are suffering from a dead bedroom and sex is important for you and your spouse is not willing to go to counseler or work with you on this? Divorce

If you had a perfect marriage for 20 years and something like the above happened? Divorce

If you are unhappy with your marriage and you tried to make it work but it doesn't? Divorce

Please don't think about your parents and stay in horrible marriages because they are going to die and leave you with miserable as well. If any parent is reading this, please stop telling your children to live miserably because you are definitely not asking this from them for their own happiness. Society only has a mouth, they will not feed you, assist you to get back on your feet or help you keep your dignity. Society will care about its convenience and projection of false familial cohesion, which will falter everytime someone gets a divorce. Care about the people around you, and ultimately yourself because you can't make anyone happy when you are down in a ditch yourself.

Maybe I am too radical for some of you, but we will happier as a nation if our families have healthy relationships. To make this change happen, be their for your family and friends when they get a divorce. Show them that they are not alone and you will not alienate them if they chose to leave. A lot of us in our 20s to early 30s are considering starting a family of own. Let's try not to repeat what we saw with our parents, aunts, uncles, family friends etc. Let's try to show our children healthy relationships and boundaries so they can break the generational cycle and be happier.

Comment about a time you thought to yourself that someone should definitely get a divorce and why you think they are unwilling too. Let's learn from their mistakes.

Tropes that you want more of: Ghosts!!!!

I truly love horror, and I really love it when authors combine horror and romance. Whenever a manhwa has female leads and male leads that are either ghosts, dealing with ghosts, or are exorcists, I eat that up. Please, just give me more ghosts. I need more spirits, more apparitions, more supernatural nonsense in general. Give me all of it.

So, along the same lines, what are some tropes you want to see more of in manhwas?

Sauce: As the heart flows, Secret Lady, I was possessed but it became a ghost story

For people who are interested in the same ones that I am:
