Best chippy in essex, and Imean the whole county not just your town

If you could only recommend one chippy anywhere in the county, where would you send someone? I'm happy to travel if it's genuinely worth it. Bonus points if it's consistently good rather than somewhere that was amazing once five years ago

Does anyone actually believe rejection rate has no impact on future orders?

The app says rejecting an order won't affect how many you're offered or what you're paid. In my experience there's periods after rejecting a few in a row where the zone goes noticeably quiet. Could be coincidence and I can't prove anything but it doesn't quite line up with what they tell you. What do other riders think?

Is Southend seafront actually worth a visit these days or has it gone downhill?

Haven't been down there in a few years and was thinking of making a day trip. Is it still worth a visit? Are the arcades still decent? Is the beach worth spending a few hours at, or has it gone downhill? And what's the food scene like these days? Any places you'd recommend?

What is the most annoying thing a customer can do while you are looking for their house?

For me it is when they are standing right by the window watching you walk up and down the street in the dark looking at house numbers, but they won't just crack the door open or wave to show you which property is theirs. They just watch you struggle through the glass like it is a spectator sport

Why does the rest of the country think Essex is just one giant housing estate?

Every time I tell someone from outside the county where I live, they look at me like I spend my weekends at Sugar Hut or driving a modified Fiesta around a retail park. Do people not realize how much of Essex is just miles of quiet farmland, ancient woodland, and sleepy coastal villages where absolutely nothing happens

Harlow town centre is depressing

Just had to go into Harlow town centre for something and honestly it's one of the most soul-destroying places I've been in a long time. Half the shops are empty, the whole thing just feels dead. Do people actually like going there or is it just me?

Do customers actually know that a bad rating for something the restaurant got wrong comes back on us?

Had a one star last week that mentioned cold food and a missing item. The food was cold because of how the restaurant packaged it and the missing item was gone before it reached me. Is there any way to flag this or does it just sit on your account forever?

What do people actually do for a night out in Essex these days?

Asking as someone who moved back after years away and feels completely out of the loop. The places I used to go are either closed or completely different now. Is there anywhere that has a decent atmosphere without being either a Wetherspoons or a place that charges twelve quid for a cocktail?

Is a computer science degree still worth doing in the UK or has the market shifted too much?

Genuinely asking because I'm seeing more people say bootcamps and self-teaching are just as viable now. I'm 20 and trying to decide whether three years and the debt that comes with it is actually the move or whether I'd be better off taking a different route into the industry

Why is there no way to rate the packaging separately from the food?

Sometimes the restaurant is great but everything arrived crushed or leaked because they packed it badly. Want to flag that without tanking their overall rating for something that's genuinely their fault to fix

What's your most unpopular opinion about Essex?

Mine is that Colchester is massively underrated

It's the oldest recorded town in Britain, has a decent food scene, isn't too far from the coast, and the university gives it a bit of life. Everyone seems to overlook it because it's not trendy enough or close enough to London, but it's genuinely a nice place to live

World Cup screenings around Chelmsford

With the tournament kicking off, where are the best venues to watch the England games that have a decent atmosphere but will not turn into an absolute riot by half time

Best country pubs with decent beer gardens around north Essex

We live near Braintree but we are happy to drive out towards Halstead, Great Dunmow, or the Hedinghams if the place is worth it. Ideally looking for somewhere with a bit of character, good local ales on tap, and a nice view rather than just a few wooden benches slapped onto a car park. What are your absolute favorite hidden gems for a sunny weekend afternoon?

Anyone else multi apping with Uber Eats or Just Eat during the quiet mid afternoon slots?

Deliveroo has been absolutely dead between 2 and 5 lately in my zone. Just trying to figure out if it is worth the stress of managing two apps at once or if you get flagged too easily

What are some good walking routes around Epping Forest that avoid the main crowded paths near the visitor centre?

Looking for a decent 5 or 6 mile loop where you can actually enjoy the woods in peace

Thoughts on Stockport County's chances for next year

Hard luck at Wembley, but the foundation of that squad still looks incredibly solid. Do we think they bounce back and push for the top two immediately, or is there a risk of a proper hangover after getting so close to the Championship?

Where to take a relative visiting the county for the first time?

I have family coming down from up north next month and want to show them that Essex is not just what they see on telly. I am thinking a trip to Dedham Vale and a walk along the river to Flatford Mill should do the trick but would love any other suggestions for genuinely picturesque spots
