Wearing a liner just in case makes me smell

Whenever I wear a liner just before or after my period just in case it happens leaves me with a smell down there. I use the organic ones. Why does this happen and is it normal?

Need recommendations for bathroom cleaning products

I just moved to the US and I’m so overwhelmed with all of the different cleaning products. I want to stock up on all the things I’ll need to clean my bathroom but I don’t even know where to start.

I feel like I don’t have a personality

I feel like this is really layered but it’s something I’ve always been very insecure about.
I kind of realized for the first time that I am actually conventionally attractive and that my looks aren’t why people don’t like me. This really hurt.
I just don’t know even know what my personality is. I think my people pleasing definitely plays a big part in this. But like if someone says “what’s one word you would use to describe yourself” or asks me anything about myself, my mind is blank.
I’ve been in therapy for years, trying to work on self esteem. I think I just didn’t get to know myself growing up, I was just focused on surviving.
I’ve been really trying to work on stopping the people pleasing and boosting my confidence but somethings just not clicking.

cat trying to get into other rooms

Not sure why but cat gets PISSED at closed doors. He has found out how to open doors. And on top of that he keeps trying to get into the closet where there is a hole in the wall (it has a cover but he just rips it off.) He’s obsessed with trying to get into the wall, I just don’t know what to do.
If I lock the door he just keeps scratching at it and won’t stop. As for the closet and the hole in the wall, I put stuff in front of it and just tears it down. I don’t know what to do!

armpits stink: what am I doing wrong?

I keep hearing that growing out pit hair can keep your armpits from smelling. I usually only shave my armpits once every few months. Once I start growing them out, it starts to smell a lot faster than when I shave.

Not really sure what I’m doing wrong, I shower everyday and use deodorant. Maybe it’s because shaving gives you that exfoliation, should I start exfoliating my armpits more??

Should I get my people cat a companion?

My cat loves people but I’m about to move out by myself and I’m scared he will be lonely when I’m at work.
He has almost always been around people, I got him in college and had three other roommates and other people around all the time.
I don’t know if he will like another cat, I guess it depends on the cat.

I’m not doing well

I guess I’m looking for any advice on how to pick myself back up. I know healing isn’t linear but I feel really stuck.

I’m in between jobs and currently living at my dad’s house. He is quite insufferable but the worst part is that I’m in the house that so many bad things happened to me in.

I don’t have a car (because I won’t be needing one when I move out) and you can’t walk anywhere here. I’ve just been home sleeping or doom scrolling. I don’t think my depression room has ever been this bad before. I just can’t bring myself to do anything. I don’t have any friends here and it’s not like I can go out and make any. I literally feel trapped.

I just don’t know where to go from here, I feel so trapped. I don’t currently have a therapist because I move so much, I can’t afford one right now either. Please just any advice on how to pick myself up, I feel like I’ve dug myself into a hole and can’t get out.

Feeling discouraged by being “uncultured”

I feel like no one really talks about this so I wanted to bring it up. This past year was the first time I really traveled. I was surrounded by and met a lot of people that were more well-traveled than me.

There was a lot of times where I was embarrassed or felt out of place in conversation. I think it hurts because I really try my best to research and be knowledgeable. But just not knowing things or pronouncing things and have people say like “how do you not know this” really made me feel discouraged and out of place. But how am I supposed to know unless I keep trying to travel and learn?

I feel like I shouldn’t be singled out or not deserving of being in these spaces because I didn’t have the privilege of traveling until now.

Difficulty being attracted to people

Let me know if there’s a better sub to post this in, just know that whatever this is, is related to my cptsd.

It takes a LOT for me to be attracted to someone and even then, I typically don’t pursue it. Also a relationship sounds nice but it’s not really a priority for me. It just seems like a lot of work that I’m not willing to put in unless I am 1000% attracted and really want this person.

Friends keep telling me that my standards are too high and that I just need to start going on dates but I just don’t really feel like it. I’ve been told this is avoidant attachment but I feel like this is just how I am? I don’t really know where to go from here, does anyone else relate?

So exercising your free will might help

Within the past year I’ve started solo traveling and just doing things by myself more. I think it’s actually so healing because it proves that you are living for yourself and that you deserve to be a full person and enjoy your experiences on this Earth. It was terrifying at first but you start to feel how freeing it is to take up space.

I just hope this resonates with someone because I’ve spent the majority of my life in a very dark place and it’s what’s helped me have any kind of joy or even just being comfortable in my own body.

In these moments of making decisions for myself and only me, have truly been so transformative. I used to have paralyzing social anxiety and during these experiences it was like I was a different person. It really confused me at first but then I heard someone talk about “finding out who you are” isn’t really a thing because you create yourself. I believe that you need some kind of experiences that let you live for yourself to really know yourself and figure out who you want to be.

Anyways I really hope this makes sense because it’s just actually changed my life in such a good way and I want others to experience the same.

How do you deal with those who don’t believe in science in day to day life?

I am in the “wellness” community and a lot of people seriously have no idea what they are talking about. I try to have logical conversations with them but I think it comes down to them not believing in science. I just never get anywhere but I’m trying to be helpful. How do you deal with/ talk to people like this?

NYC for the day

I’m going into the city for a day. What is the best way to spend the day solo? Please give me your best recommendations. I’m also wondering if I should go into Grand Central or Penn Station.

I know you can’t do NYC in a day, but I’ll probably be back soon, I’m currently staying outside of the city, so I just wanted to check it out for a day.

Also, I heard mixed things about the subway and safety but wanted some more opinions. I lived in Europe for a while so I’m comfortable with public transportation. I want to take a taxi to get the full experience but scared I’ll get scammed lol.

and lmk if anyone has recs to see things from gossip girl or satc or any other cool things like that.

the neglect from being an only child (hot take?)

This feels like a hot take since I don’t know many only children. But I feel like no one talks about the neglect that can come with being an only child. I felt more like a pet than a child. I was always around adults and not children which I feel like hurt my social skills. (I spent so much time in bars as a child, I loved the smell of cigarettes and alcohol because it’s nostalgic.) I was in a lot of settings not meant for children. If I wasn’t around other adults, I spent a lot of time alone. I feel like I never really got to be a kid. Then, as I got older it still sucks to not have siblings. Having to deal with my parents all on my own is really a lot.

how do you deal with “performing” all of the time

I have realized that in order to hold a job, I will have to “perform” almost everyday for the rest of my life. I don’t know if this makes sense but I feel like I have to perform or just not be myself in front of certain people. I can do it but it gets so exhausting after so long.

my abusive dad is dating and I’m scared

I am going to meet my dads girlfriend for the first time. I know it isn’t my problem to solve or get involved with but I’m scared. My dad always goes for younger women that don’t speak up and are easily manipulated. I’m just so scared to see what happened to my mom, happen to someone else.

What to do with “you deserve better”?

It’s really validating yet also heartbreaking to hear “you deserve better,” because it makes it true and real. I know myself that I deserve better, I don’t think anyone deserves what I’ve been through. But I struggle to find this message healing, it feels awful actually.

How fucked am I if paint ripped off the wall but the apartment has the landlord special? [Madrid, Spain]

I move out tomorrow so no time to fix anything. I just took down all my wall decor (very carefully) and the paint got ripped off. There’s about a hundred layers of paint on the wall and we weren’t allowed to use nails. I was going to send pictures and explain to my landlord but like how much am I looking at for the repair costs?

EDIT: Like the building itself is lowkey falling apart because it’s so old and has not been kept up.

How to not gag when brushing tongue?

(This is a serious post pls😭) Brushing my tongue even brushing my teeth sometimes, makes me gag to the point of throwing up. I’ve tried a tongue scraper too and I think that feels worse. I can usually at least get the front part of my tongue, but never the back. I literally have to flare my nostrils and breathe through my nose and focus really hard. Some days it’s just really bad and brushing just my teeth will make me immediately throw up. Is there some kind of powerful mouthwash I can use on days where I just keep puking or at least to help the back part of my tongue that I can’t reach?

What’s the difference between “running away from your problems,” and ambition?

I moved abroad quite quickly after having a really rough mental patch last year. A lot of people, even my therapist told me I was running away from my problems. This was about a year ago and now my program is ending, and I don’t have a single regret about doing this.

When I move back home, I plan on moving across the country for a low paying job compared to the cost of living in that city. The shameful thoughts of “running away” from my problems are coming back. But this is my dream city. I just don’t feel confident enough to make big decisions like this.

I will say that I believe people with CPTSDs lives look very different from those who don’t and that it’s important for us to be ambitious but where is the line?
