From what I can gather, signing with one hand is more common in ASL, especially since the alphabet is one-handed too, but the BSL alphabet and many signs use two hands, which got me thinking about situations when you only have one hand available for signing.

Would you adapt the signs for the letters? Do you borrow the ASL alphabet for fingerspelling? Is it a regional/individual thing?

I know out-of universe, it’s to give an idea of time scale for the audience, but in-universe, it makes no sense for the Gems to measure time scale in Earth years.

Sure, maybe the Crystal Gems would, but Gems like Spinel and Holly Blue Agate and the Diamonds, who have barely seen Earth, still make references to “thousands of years”.

Does Homeworld just happen to have a similar year length as Earth?

He points to one of the baked goods and asked “Is this gluten free?”

It’s the other words I have trouble spelling.

I’ve heard some people speculate that since Steven’s gem briefly turns into both Pink Diamond and Rose Quartz when it’s removed from him, there’s something of Pink/Rose still in there. So if Steven’s gem was separated from him again and was hit with the Rejuvinator, it would revert back to Pink Diamond pre-character development.

Here’s why I don’t think that’s the case. For one, the whole point of Change Your Mind, and the whole show, was that Pink/Rose is GONE gone. She just doesn’t exist anywhere anymore and all that’s left is Steven. If White Diamond can eventually accept that, so can you.

But also in the movie itself, when they’re trying to get all the Gems back by giving back all their “pieces”, it’s clearly established that for Steven’s gem, the pieces they need to get back are STEVEN’S own pieces and have nothing to do with Pink Diamond. He spells it out in the epiphany he has just before “Change”.

Steven’s gem is Steven now. Not Pink Diamond, not Rose Quartz. Just Steven Universe.

Apparently the Crewniverse said that Rose shapeshifted a womb for Steven so she could give birth to him, so presumably she also shapeshifted a vagina, Fallopian tubes, and eggs.

It follows that if she wanted to, she could’ve shapeshifted a penis, testicles, and sperm if she wanted.

Does that mean that if she’d chosen to have a baby with a female human instead, her human partner would’ve ended up carrying her child? How would the whole “giving up her physical form” thing have worked then?
