In the scene where Sunset recalls how she first came to be gifted her first Wardrobe City dollhouse (it had been bought for a photoshoot showing her with newborn Sweetie), the photographer, Mark, tells her that it’s hers to keep, and calls her sweetie, saying she’s “a total sweetie” even when she thinks he’s gotten her name wrong. The next couple of lines say how little Sunset liked him so much that for months afterwards she played that they were living in the dollhouse together.

Sunset would’ve been about 5-6 at the time so she probably would’ve thought the world of anyone who was nice to her, but also IIRC, that tiny interaction they had about the dollhouse was the ONLY time he talked to her.

Basically, Sunset was already feeling so out of place in her own home that she formed a stronger attachment to an adult she knew for all of a day and who was nice to her one time than to her family.

Yeesh, Sunset deserved so much better.

I moved to the city a month ago for uni and the laundry system in my student halls is even worse than usual by student standards - basically you need to buy laundry tokens from reception but there’s only 25 tokens available for a building of 130 people, and since the undergrads have started they’re even less likely to be available.

There is a laundrette within easy walking distance from me but their prices are steep and the machines only take coins which are a hassle to get.

Is there another laundrette with more reasonable prices that I could potentially drive to, and maybe don’t have to get cash to use? I say drive because walking too far with a heavy laundry basket is a pain.

I’ve been getting these calls for the last couple of months or so.

My phone has a feature where it screens calls from unknown numbers and asks them to explain their reason for calling, so I almost never answer the unknown number calls, but almost all of them, all different numbers, have been asked to be added to WhatsApp.

The first time I thought it was one of my friends because the voice sounded similar to her but she denied it. Now I’ve been getting these calls once a week to once a fortnight, all different numbers, last one was just an hour ago.

Anyone else been getting these? Is this the newest telemarketing scheme and/or newest scam?

It’s a lot of fun, you should look into it.

I played the Wii version of M&S London when I was a kid, I got it for Christmas the year it came out. It was so colourful, fun, and charming, with a ton of features, I still sometimes break out my old Wii just to play it. I was so disappointed that I only had a DS Lite and not a 3DS at the time so I couldn’t play the 3DS version too.

Fast forward over a decade, I now have a 3DS, I finally find M&S London 2012 on the 3DS at my local secondhand game shop, I get it and play it and … holy crap is it a downgrade.

It honestly blows my mind how dull and lifeless this game was, especially considering it was made around the same time as the Wii version and must’ve shared a few members of the dev team.

Like whose idea was it to make it so you could only play as certain for certain events, and whose idea was it to get rid of Dream Events, and why were they actually listened to?! The Wii version had neither of these issues and seemed to have so much more effort put into it.

I first got M&S at the Olympic Winter Games on DS for Christmas 2009, and it’s legit so fun and comforting and so, so charming. I don’t know what kind of magic they put into that game but I still love it and still pick it up and play it 16 years later.

From what I can gather, signing with one hand is more common in ASL, especially since the alphabet is one-handed too, but the BSL alphabet and many signs use two hands, which got me thinking about situations when you only have one hand available for signing.

Would you adapt the signs for the letters? Do you borrow the ASL alphabet for fingerspelling? Is it a regional/individual thing?

I know out-of universe, it’s to give an idea of time scale for the audience, but in-universe, it makes no sense for the Gems to measure time scale in Earth years.

Sure, maybe the Crystal Gems would, but Gems like Spinel and Holly Blue Agate and the Diamonds, who have barely seen Earth, still make references to “thousands of years”.

Does Homeworld just happen to have a similar year length as Earth?

He points to one of the baked goods and asked “Is this gluten free?”
