This would really make EVs take off and effectively replace ICE cars. It’s unknown when consumers would actually be able to buy them yet.

Should Lincoln get a luxury version of the 4 door Mustang planned in 2029 to directly compete with next gen CT5?

It would fill up more unused capacity at the Flat Rock plant and give Lincoln something exciting in their lineup. Seriously, Farley has been very vague on Lincoln’s future products and has said nothing about Lincolns on the UEV platform.

Ford is also planning a new $25,000 SUV by 2029 with gas and hybrid versions to directly compete with Corolla Cross, HRV, and Trailblazer

Seems like Ford has truly regret killing their affordable models since their sales have been falling and Ford customers moved to other brands despite what Farley keeps on saying.

Ford preps $25,000 hybrid utility to fight Trailblazer promises 4-door Mustang will start under $40,000 to fight new Camaro

Less than a year after discontinuing its entry-level Escape, and with hybrid sales surging across the industry, Ford Motor Co. is preparing to address both needs with a new vehicle that would be its lowest-priced model.Ford executives showed dealers at a private meeting in Las Vegas early mock-ups of a small crossover that will have a starting price around $25,000, according to multiple people who were in the room. The vehicle, which the people said would be offered in gasoline and hybrid versions, is expected to go on sale in 2029. People at the meeting described the crossover, shown on video and in early prototype form, as boxy and wide, with one person saying it resembled a first-generation Escape. Executives did not reveal the vehicle’s name to dealers and indicated that the designs were not finalized but shown only to give a general sense of size. Such a product instantly would become the automaker’s most affordable model, slotting below the $29,000 Maverick pickup and the $30,000 Fathom electric pickup due in 2027. Ford has promised dealers a handful of models under $40,000 in the coming years in a bid to address the industrywide affordability crisis. Ford did not tell dealers where it plans to build the crossover, but three people with knowledge of the company’s product plans said the company is slated to assemble a hybrid crossover starting in 2029 at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico, alongside the Bronco Sport and Maverick. A Ford spokesperson declined comment, citing the company’s policy of not discussing future products. The $25,000 SUV was among a slew of new vehicles discussed at the Las Vegas meeting, which was attended by CEO Jim Farley, COO Kumar Galhotra and other top executives. The early August gathering included a standup set by comedian and noted car enthusiast Jerry Seinfeld. Ford also brought an early prototype of a four-door Mustang onto the stage, giving dealers the clearest view yet of a product first revealed at a 2024 meeting and reported by Automotive News. Multiple people who saw the prototype likened its size and design to a Porsche Panamera. The people asked not to be identified because the meeting was not open to the public.Executives promised that the four-door Mustang would have a price tag of less than $40,000, a 0-to-60 mph time of under 4 seconds and more rear-seat space than the Panamera, according to two of the people. Ford did not discuss a name at the meeting but previously has identified it to dealers as the Mach-4. Dealers also got the chance to sit in the Fathom, the first vehicle that will use the company’s new Universal EV platform. Executives told dealers that it eventually will offer five vehicles built on that platform.

Ford Killed Off Its Affordable Cars To Become the 'Porsche Of Off-Road'

Truly one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard. Looks like Farley/Ford seems to regret it now that their sales have declined for 6 straight months so far this year after already declining elsewhere in the world. Seriously why have they not fired Farley yet as they need sales volume and not just profit margins to succeed globally, but I guess Farley wants Ford to become a more niche brand.

BMW's Off-Road SUV Might Not Happen After All

The off-road SUV was codenamed G75 and expected to ride on an upgraded X5 platform. It was expected to replace the XM and enter production at the Spartanburg plant in the second half of 2029. However, it reportedly did not make it past the final approval round. This comes as Infiniti is planning 2 new luxury off-road SUVs while Genesis, Audi, and Lincoln are still considering luxury off-road SUVs.

Mitsubishi's New Pajero Reportedly Has A Debut Date, And It's September 2nd

Since they said a North American version isn’t coming till 2030 that would use the Montero badge. It’s likely it’s taking that long because it will be a badge engineered BOF Pathfinder that’s coming in 2029, but Mitsubishi will put Pajero styling on it. Just like how they are putting Triton styling on their badge engineered next gen Frontier. The new Pajero will be built in Thailand like the Triton and Thailand has higher import tariffs than Japan so it’s unjustifiable they import it from Thailand to the US.

Audi, BMW, And Mercedes Are Building Cars In China Nobody Wants To Buy

Turns out no one in China wants to buy German EVs when Chinese cars are much cheaper to buy and offer better battery technology than the Germans. The Germans have also lost their advantage in interior quality and fit and finish and their interiors are no better than the Chinese now. Ford and GM are still in a worse position than the Germans right now while Toyota and Nissan may be in a better position than the Germans.

Honda's message to current EV owners: 'Consider a hybrid'

Honda is now thinking hybrids will be the future now that they fell behind in hybrids by not investing more into hybrids earlier like Toyota/Lexus and the Koreans despite being the pioneer in hybrids. Honda and Nissan should definitely be working together on future EVs now that both cancelled US EV production and both have lost money. Except Honda/Acura invested 4.4 billion into US EV production while Nissan/Infiniti invested much less at 500 million into US EV production.

Another Chinese car brand expresses interest in entering the US in the future and suggests it could build plants in the US

Xpeng joined Geely, Chery, and Great Wall Motors in expressing interest to enter the US despite the 100% tariffs and Connected Vehicle Act. Don’t say never as it will eventually happen, but probably not until next decade. We will probably have an import quota like Canada or the Voluntary Export Restraint from Reagan. The US risks being an isolated auto market if they continue to block Chinese brands and especially now that they took a step further and pushed Polestar out and are looking to push Mercedes out too. An isolated auto market would be devastating for the US Auto industry and the US economy.
