only on one of them, i separated it already
eventually i want to make them a paludarium. but for now we have this. 2 vampire crabs in here(it has a custom lid i just took it off for the pictures)

i finally had one be super full of eggs and i took a pic of her one night and then the next morning i found her dead at the surface💔i think maybe she had trouble laying them or something ill put a pic of her in the comments if anyone knows
i know quartz are safe but i’m unfamiliar with what crystals are actually in this pile and i’d like to have “colored gravel” that is actually safe for fish
cups are food safe, purchased from walmart. i want to use them as caves. the glass paperweight was found at an antique vendor market, not sure how old it is or how to know if the glass is safe
fishless cycle. have SOME plants in there already but waiting on more to arrive, do i change the water or leave it to process on its own? using straight fluval stratum and root tabs btw, so very high nutrient start, there’s some thick patches of biofilm all over the substrate currently.
parameters
nitrite: 3.3 | nitrate: 110 | ammonia: somehow 0? i did the test right, have i just not hit the initial spike yet or is it because there’s no fish in it? i squeezed the medium from 3 different used sponge filters into the tank on day 1
first time using a full fluval stratum base uncovered, with lots of root tabs buried in it. i wanted this tank to be jam packed with nutrients for insane plant growth
i have it decently planted already, but i also have a huge plant shipment coming soon so i plan to add those when they get here, but should i worry about algae? should i reduce lighting hours? and how do i release cloudiness?
i have amazon frogbit, red root, and water lettuce on top and im trying not to kill it this time so let me know🙏
thank you
not sure exactly how much but i think only a sprinkle
what do i do
also please help me ID the species please, sold to me as “assorted plant”
i’m going to be doing my own research as well. just wanted to come on here to ask from people who actually own the animal a few questions i have.
thank you for your help🙏
just curious, not looking to act on it without advice
he has learned he cannot actually eat them so he just watches them. verry occasionally when i have the aquarium light on 100% does he just lick the glass over and over because he is stoopid
rehoming this boy in a couple days, im gonna miss him even though he’s a stubborn jackass
