Obsession is a good movie, not a great movie because of the plot (7/10)

The movie is well executed and has great acting with iconic horror scenes.

However, the plot is holding the film back IMHO. The plot is painfully mid, here's why:

  1. The plot is highly predictable. I found it very easy to predict what was going to happen next, there is one scene where I even predicted what was going to happen and in what way - that's exactly what happened. This is how it is the entire movie.
  2. There are a lot of "why" questions left at the end. Forexample, why does she not love him like a normal person? Why is she acting strange? This is never explained.

a. If there are split personalities, then the wish never really came true. He wanted HER to love him, but instead another "entity" takes over, that is not HER. Why does another entity take over?

b. If the company holds the original soul, then why is she able to take over the body?

c. Why didn't he just manipulate her by saying "if you love me, then stop doing x behavior?" She clearly listens to him and at times he is able to manipulate her, but she keeps doing weird things.

d. Why does she decide to stand there and wait all day? There is a WHOLE montage of her doing her job like a normal person and loving him, but suddenly she decides to pee/poop and smile awkwardly while standing facing the door the ENTIRE day? This makes absolutely no sense to me and feels like it was there to be an iconic scene and nothing more.

e. If she really loves him, why does she stand there and watch him sleep weirdly? Again, if she loves him, she can sleep right beside him - be closer to him, why is she doing this? Her actions make no sense.

f. If she loves him, why does she feed him his cat? Even when he clearly said he wants a proper burial for the cat. Feeding him the cat, could potentially kill him...again it also doesn't make sense here.

g. Also why does his friend, after getting a billion dollars, comes into get shot in the face lol?

  1. The main character is too much of a pussy to ever take a stand, I mean, at a certain point you'd expect the character to take a stand with all of what is going down. But, that never really happens, it just doesn't make sense.

This movie is great or amazing if you don't value the plot and shut off your brain, yes the acting and sequences are amazing - but the plot is mid at best. The plot is a critical part of a movie, because that is the sequence of events - ideally every move should make sense within the set universe.

Here, the plot is only there to take you from one iconic well-acted and executed horror sequence to another - like a checklist. Instead, of feeling like a cohesive well thought out story.

I have watched the director's YouTube shorts and honestly it really feels like the plot was taken from there. The key elements:

  1. Have a dumb/naieve/pussy character that is unable to question or have the courage to do so.
  2. Make awkward and weird stuff happen.
  3. Laugh or get scared and profit???

It works in a YouTube short that I watch for free, I expect better things from the plot of a movie.

I am not sure how people look at this movie and give it a 9 or 10 out of 10. If the actors/actresses did not go above and beyond with their abilities, this movie would be a 5 out of 10, it really lives on the performance of the cast (which was amazing). Overall score: 7/10

Why aren't people protesting like before?

For those who don't remember, they tried to shut down the PS3 stores before and we were able to make them change their ways. Why aren't we trying that again.

This honestly BS.

Clearly, the PS3 has a much bigger userbase than the PSVita, not to mention the PS3 is a main line console.

This has terrible implications for PS4 and PS5 as well.

WE NEED TO PROTEST THIS NONSENSE, BOYCOTT SONY'S FUTURE AND GO TO PC

We need to do something before the first stores are down in Mexico (next month). Which is fucked up, Mexico users only get 1 MONTH of notice.

If anyone of you folk have money, maybe it's time to lawyer up on of all of our behalf...

And seriously, how much is Sony seriously saving by taking the three servers offline for the PS3 store? a penny relative to the rest of their revenues?

Anyone know any places for getting an HVAC A/C unit?

Looking for a 2.5 Ton unit (30,000 BTU I think?) as my A/C broke down.

Budget friendly options please, so far I've seen Midea, but nothing below 2600 so far.

If anyone has any advice to save money on this, I would appreciate it.

Realistically, I think only the BoS can defeat the Institute

Honestly, after enjoying and playing the game and DLC for around 100 hours I put in. I think the BoS is the only one that can realistically defeat the Institute. Unless the Institute are that incompetent.

The whole Railroad storyline depends on the fact that the Institute never find out that their synths are planning a rebellion. But, given the impression of the Institute and the level of control over the Commonwealth - are you seriously telling me they would have zero ideas on what their synths are thinking? In other words, the SRB have no way to monitor what decisions their synths are making and what they are thinking at all times? I find that really hard to believe. The Institute has eyes all over the Commonwealth with their crows and have infiltrated every major settlement/faction, yet they have no way to know what their synths are up to? That just doesn't make sense.

This ending also depends on the fact that we eliminate a bunch of synths in the tunnel, are you seriously telling me that once we get into a firefight with the synths in the excavation - that the Institute has no idea of knowing that they lost a bunch of synths in the tunnels?

Similarly with the Minutemen ending, they so happen to have an external pipe for the nuclear reactor. Which btw, is guarded, and after killing them - they again, have absolutely zero idea that their synths are down and have no watchers in an vulnerable area? That is laughable.

(Not to mention, that before the final battle - both the Railroad and Minutemen are crippled to around half of their normal capacity, making it seem less realistic that they would be able to manage what they do)

Then it's the final battles, I'm sorry - but the Minutemen and Railroad can't take the Institute down, even if they were together. If the Institute has a bunch of synths, willing to lay their lives for the Institute + scientists, then I'm sorry but 4 Railroad agents, 13 synths and 5 Minutemen won't cut it. You need an army to take them down, the Institute was heavily nerfed in the ending for both these factions IMHO.

Either the Institute are highly incompetent and should have died decades ago. Or, they were heavily nerfed implying that the endings weren't factual/canon for RR and MM.

Now, why does the BoS ending make more sense? Realistically, with a threat like the Institute, the only way to take them down is guns blazing. And only one faction has the power to do that: the BoS. I highly doubt that the Institute will have zero idea what is going on internally. I mean just look at the BoS ending, the Synths are already ready for Liberty Prime as it menacingly walks over to CIT. So, if they are ready for Liberty Prime as it walks over to CIT - how do they have ZERO idea about infiltration from RR or MM?

The BoS are the only faction, with Liberty prime, that can realistically take down the Institute head on. They have the numbers, the tools and frankly the will to get the job done. It seems like a big stretch for the RR or MM to get the same job done, unless the Institute is really stupid. And if they are this stupid, then I don't think they deserved to last centuries.

I also think that there should have only been two endings: BoS and Institute. And that there might have originally been a plan for two endings only as well. Why? Because Fallout historically, always likes having controversial endings, not the "perfect happy ending". By only having the Institute or BoS as options, they achieve exactly that. By going with BoS, you save the people of the Commonwealth from the Institute, but you still have the BoS and what are their intentions? They also view Synths as machines only (don't agree with this myself). Meanwhile, the Institute supports the existence of synths (and makes them!), killing them would stop the creation of synth species, but they terrorize the people of the Commonwealth and view synths as the future to serve the Institute. Only having these two endings, would actually allow for a moral conundrum (like in Far Habor). Evidence of this is, well it is only these two endings where things really change in the Commonwealth. Diamond City (if BoS wins) has BoS flags and BoS staff roaming around. Conversely, if Institute win - you have Institute synths roaming around and the people of Commonwealth in the hands of the Institute. Also, the ending cutscenes are literally the same for destroying the Institute (really just 2 endings). Finally, having an ending where you only choose between two evils would have been far more interesting and much more in line with what Fallout is about.

FO4 is better than FO76

Just finished my playthrough of FO4 (all 4 endings and Automatron, Nuka Cola and Far Harbor main storylines complete).

Before this, I completed my first FO, FO76, a couple of months ago. And I have to say, I enjoyed this FAR MORE than FO76. Lot's of people were telling me to not bother with FO if I didn't enjoy the updated FO76 that is basically "fallout". FO76 still doesn't have much of a story and zero polish compared to FO4, lots of bugs in FO76. There is also a far better single player focus in FO4, FO is a single player game, adding grindy multiplayer really ruins the experience.

I really loved the companions here (non existent in 76) and that they have their own quests as well. They can add more to dialogue (Nick in FH) but also make you feel like you aren't going in alone.

There is also the ability to do whatever I want, if I want to oppose a faction, just mow them down - that isn't possible in many linear games, which is very cool.

Gameplay wise, I was surprised how good the gun play was. I heard bad stuff about gunplay in FO games. I enjoyed melee weapons a lot as well. The crafting was cool and for most of the game it wasn't forced, which I liked. Though in the DLC of Automatron I found it to be a bit annoying. I think it is a bit clunky and there is also the segment in FH where the data block hack forcefully uses this, killing all momentum in the game. Some of the villains are a bit too bullet spongey, Mirelurks being an example, which I didn't like.

Story wise, I enjoyed FH and the main game story for the most part. I really liked the pre-war world in the beginning where we make our character in a well integrated way, wish there was more. Also liked how the kid was an actual mix of the two mom and dad characters. For the main game story, it fell flat at the endings however. It just seemed too similar for all 4 endings, making it seem less important to choose a faction. It was really just 2 choices with illusion of 4, but really just 1 ending. The FH story line seems to have a bit more weight to choices and all choices will have you doing something morally wrong (ie. there is a BEST choice, not a perfect happy ending choice which I liked). Another thing for the main story, it seemed like we are too focused on faction story lines rather than actual main mission story quests, kind of ruined the flow a bit. I like in FH, faction quests are fairly minimal and the focus remains on figuring out the mystery of the factions and the path forward to the island. I also like that choices can be made for all factions and for FH particularly, you get to see the changes to the environment for the bad ending for FH.

Dialogue options were disappointing. The choices displayed were not telling the full dialogue and WTF is "sarcastic"? It felt like this part was quickly rushed and borrowed from The Walking Dead, but implemented worse.

Sound wise, I enjoyed it. I really liked the background music in FO4. That theme in Diamond City/Goodneighbor is amazing (nostalgic, longing for better times, but hopeful and determined for the future, this theme is my favorite as it covers all emotions IMHO), the Institute theme is also amazing and I also liked the RR theme as well. The guns also sound great. One thing that was disappointing was the radio in this game (apparently a lot of the songs are from FO3 anyways) and it is quite repetitive. I turned the radio on very late in my playthrough (basically only for FH, since the environment was creepy and I wanted something less scary), and was still able to get through all the songs lol. It was also repeating talking points about events that had already happened, multiple times. I will say though, the songs available on the radio station, I liked, especially Wanderer (which is unfortunate that it is missing from newer editions, because that was the signature song for FO4 like Country Roads for FO76).

Graphically and performance wise, it is a mixed bag and disappointing. In some areas the game is very poor graphically (early PS3 level graphics) in others, because of the timeless art style, it can hold up today. However, the loading screens are very annoying. The elevator takes forever and opening a door could lead to a 2 minute loading screen, ruining all momentum. Even on beefy PCs this is really disappointing.

Culturally, this game was very big in 2015. Part of why I checked this out is because of the nostalgia I have for a decade ago, in university - remembering my prof praising this game and many of my friends as well. I remember being wowed at the cool way they had us create the character. 2015 was a much more optimistic time than now in retrospect, even for FO (FO76 being a disaster and FO5 being something released far away, atleast we have the TV show). Maybe, I should try to stop making up for what I missed in the past and live instead in the now? Idk, I think too much nostalgia can be dangerous.

Overall, I enjoyed this game a lot, the customization is amazing and different ways to get to different endings is great, I also loved the companions (Nick especially). I love how close it is to the real life Boston as well. There are drawbacks however and I think the game would be a 7.5/10 but with FH it is an easy 8/10 (even FH lost me with that datablock clunky segment). Fewer loading screens, more consistent graphics, better radio station, better dialog options and more meaningful endings in the main story would have made it a 10/10.

Boycott Pakistan Cricket until we reach a WC semi

Literally, stop watching Pak Cricket please. This is the only power we have, if you don't like Aqib Javed or the team - just stop watching.

Let the stadiums rot. Let support dwindle. There'll always be some nostalgic uncle supporting our team in West Indies or something (they don't need us to support), but the rest of us don't need to support a system that has shunned merit based recruitment.

Personally, I stopped watching Pak Cricket for 5 years, after we lost the WC 2011 Semi to India. I started watching again in late 2016, when they had upset the T20 WC 2016 champions (West Indies) and go on to beat them 3-0 in that series in UAE. They then went on to win CT 2017.

But, they have won nothing since 2017. 2021 and 2022 are good showings, but no cup to show for it. 2024 absolutely broke this team, maybe it was the 2023 Asia cup.

Either way, it's all behind us now. We need to improve, but there are no signs of change or trying different things. It's a mess, I think it is the best time to stop watching Pakistan Cricket.

Not only are things going to mentally improve if you stop watching and watch some other form of entertainment. But, Pakistan Cricket will feel the hurt in their wallets, in their image and most importantly in sponsors and brand recognition. Think about it, if no one cares about Sheenu or Naseem anymore, why would anyone watch an ad from them? Or care about their sponsors?

I am already boycotting them until the WC atleast, I suggest as many of you that are upset to do the same. Go play a video game, watch movies or TV shows.

Which companion should I take to Glowing Sea?

I am thinking of taking Nick Valentine because he is a synth and resistant to radiation (but I've done a whole bunch of missions with him).

Paladin Danse I left at Fort Strong, he is a bit too loyal to the BoS cause.

I'm thinking Piper, since I didn't do any missions with her. But, she isn't a synth and has no power armour? Any advice?

E11+ fuel in Ontario, Canada for my CX-5 from Mazda, fine?

Hello,

I drive my car once a week only for around 75-100 KM. I heard recently that Ontario is moving to E11 fuel and is already trying E15 fuel in some areas, however Mazda Canada says you need to ensure you put E10 fuel and no higher ethanol in the car, or else your warranty is voided.

I just put 87 octane regular from Petro in the GTA and I am not sure if I just put in E15 fuel in my car that needs E10...

What do I do? And will my car be damaged, I just bought a brand new car for the first time - buying a CX-5 because I heard it has good reliability, but the government wants to destroy my car.

Please advise.

Thanks.

With new fuel regulations, is E10 fuel still available at 87?

Hi,

Is E10 fuel still available at 87 octane grade fuel now? I am hearing conflicted things, with the 11% Ethanol standard now.

What fuel can I get and where, as my car requires E10 strictly?

Thanks.

The 401 is a junkyard highway, that is in crisis mode

The 401 has become an absolute disaster. Been using it fairly regularly for the last two years and the highway has become only worse with time.

A decade ago, traffic was the problem. A decade later, traffic is still the problem but not the only one. It's worse now in so many ways:

Firstly, the highway is absolutely a junkyard. Someone on Reddit called it a toilet and I would absolutely agree. Just today, I drove over some metal junk (hoping there is no damage). Last summer, there was a literal freaking exhaust pipe in the left lane for 2 or 3 weeks. Another time, there was an SUV bumper in the left lane in Mississauga. If junk in the driving lanes is an issue, it is a full blown crisis on the shoulder. The entire freaking shoulder of the highway is just debris from accidents, good luck safely parking on the shoulder. Might as well just take your chances on leaving the 401 and stopping at a gas station.

If junk on the highway isn't a problem, then junk from trucks carrying junk is. Every single day in the last couple of weeks, I have had rocks/stones thrown at me on the highway at 110 Km/h speeds. Not only does this chip paint on my car, but it also cracked my windshield (it cost me around 300 dollars out of pocket, thanks junkyard highway truck drivers). All of this useless construction trucks on the highway, with zero precaution are just letting other folk getting hit by rocks/stones. It is high time that trucks either get their own freaking lanes, or they get moved to the 407. It's also small business trucks (like an F150 or RAM), with stones being thrown from their cars. Absolutely unacceptable, these truckers should have their own lane and should frankly be tolled or forced to use the 407.

And if you somehow get past all of the junk on the highway, the road quality is TERRIBLE. Driving westbound in the left most lane around Rexdale, there is an area of the worst potholes I have ever encounterd. Like, they are craters as big as cars. Been there for years, and no one has even bothered to repair it. Meanwhile, we will see them "repair" a completely perfect section of the 401 in Mississauga last year? Straight up corruption. It's not just that eastbound has SPEED BUMPS on a HIGHWAY, because of poor construction. Eastbound starting around Yonge is just speed humps, no one bothered to smooth out the highway, I don't know which idiots constructed this? This continues well into Scarborough to around STC. There is also a big pothole around STC in the left lane. All of this, will damage your suspensions, axles and tires. And this has been there for years, no one has done a THING!

These three things I mentioned, are extra damage caused to people's cars because of this highway, it doesn't need to be this way. But for some reason, due to complacency on us Ontarians, it is this way. We have Northern Ontarians complaining about having two lanes, but we in the big bad GTA, can't even get a functional highway that atleast doesn't cause excess damage to the second most expensive (maybe the most expensive) product in our lives.

And ofcourse, on top of this is the undue stress and excess damage on brakes caused by traffic and the aggressive reckless drivers. I've had someone literally merge INTO me, I had to get onto the should and break hard to avoid an accident.

The 401 is not just the Junkyard highway as I call it, it is a disaster and a crisis now. Something needs to be done about the 3 points, if we can't fix the traffic, atleast fix the damn highway.

Finally, from an international respect perspective - we will have people coming from around the world for the FIFA world cup and we will showcase the world, this junkyard of a highway? Yea, Canada's image is going to go where the 401 is - the toilet. Also can we rename 401 "the Junkyard highway"?

Is there anyone we can complain to?

Milton Mall Service Ontario Experience was terrible

Terrible experience with Service Ontario at the Milton Mall. The staff there is hugely incompetent in my experience and many customers I have seen literally crash out in the times I visited there thanks to the staff's incompetent and rude behaviour.

In my experience, I went in to renew my license and they got my address wrong, not once, but three times. Atleast, they got it wrong the first time and weren't able to fully fix it the other two times. I don't know what rocket science they need to learn in order to input the correct address.

I had to eventually go to another Service Ontario, outside of Milton, to finally get my renewed documents a month later - but a WHOLE 9 MONTHS LATER AFTER MY FIRST VISIT AT MILTON.

The funny thing is, on my 2nd return to renew my temporary documents, they were giving me a hard time for not having the expired physical license (even though I had the paper one) and were demanding the renewal fee again lol. Luckily, I went back and found it, but it honestly is bullshit.

I guess, this is an Ontario problem as a whole. This entire process should be done online instead of having these useless centers with incompetent staff all across Ontario. This province is decades behind the rest of the world and it's not even funny, embrace the future, because if we don't we will be left behind - which we already are. The rudeness and lack of human empathy I experience at Milton's service center, make me wish we can automate these jobs and shut these service centers down - because atleast AI won't be rude and have the same amount of empathy (infact ChatGPT is kinder to me than the staff).

I was wondering if others had any similar experiences with this Service Ontario? As I saw multiple people crashing out right infront of them lol.

Edit: The cherry on top of the sh1t cake is the ridiculous wait times on a weekday, I went to the other place outside of Milton and it took half the time to see the service rep. Either way, this entire process should be done online anyways - we don't need these service centers and taxpayers can save money instead of having to talk to a bunch of "human" drones at these service centers.

I just changed the engine air filter. It took a while to fit it in, I tried using different sides - eventually it fit perfectly.

My only question is, will the car let you know if the air filter is not properly fit in? Or is there a way to tell?

Acceleration wise, I already feel more sharpness in the engine in the initial 0-30 KM/h.
