First car recommendations under £5k?

Hi all,

I just passed my test and I’m looking at getting my first car. Ideally, I’m looking for something under £5k that’s cheap on fuel, will last me a while, has cheap road tax and reasonable insurance.

I appreciate that as a first-time driver the insurance is going to be fairly high, but if anyone could suggest some good options then I’d really appreciate it.

Thank you!

Driving test next week, any tips or advice?

Hi all,

I have my driving test booked for next week and I’m feeling really nervous about it!

I was wondering if anyone who has recently passed has any tips or advice that helped them on the day. Also, how strict are examiners generally? I’d really like to hear about your experiences and anything you wish you had known before taking your test.

Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks!

I’m 23 and want to get serious about investing

I’m 23 and starting to take investing seriously. For those of you with more experience, what do you wish you had done differently in your 20s, and what would you recommend someone my age focus on now?

What do you regret not doing in your 20s?

I’m in my 20s and trying to build a good financial life, but honestly, I feel a bit lost about what I should be focusing on.

For those who are older, what do you wish you had started doing in your 20s? And what financial mistakes or missed opportunities do you regret?

I’d genuinely love to hear your experiences, good or bad.

What’s a financial “rule” you followed for years that you eventually realised was completely wrong for you?

Not looking for textbook answers. I’m genuinely curious about advice you believed, followed, and eventually changed your mind about.

Could be saving, investing, debt, property, pensions, FIRE, lifestyle, anything.

What did you believe, what changed your mind, and what do you do differently now?

Where do you guys put your money after you’ve maxed out your ISA?

For those who have already used up their ISA allowance, what’s your next move? Do you put extra money into a taxable investment account, pension/SIPP, premium bonds, property, savings accounts, or something else?

Interested to hear how people are allocating their money once the ISA is no longer an option.
