Issue with Installshield installers
I've lately been trying to install some stuff using Wine. I for instance just installed Vocaloid 6 and got it working with some tweaks, but one thing i noticed is that the installshield installers of the voicebanks actually don't install. Failing with an error 0x80040708.
I find it very strange since the installer of vocaloid6 itself IS an Installshield installer, and this one installed without trouble.
I looked around, and this error is related to a failure to create COM components.
Looking at the log, this is what is logged at the time of the error:
0104:err:shell:HCR_GetFolderAttributes should be called for simple PIDL's only!017c:err:ole:std_release_marshal_data could not map object ID to stub manager, oxid=1780000017c, oid=2017c:err:ole:CoReleaseMarshalData StdMarshal ReleaseMarshalData failed with error 0x8001011d01a4:err:ole:std_release_marshal_data could not map object ID to stub manager, oxid=1a0000001a4, oid=201a4:err:ole:CoReleaseMarshalData StdMarshal ReleaseMarshalData failed with error 0x8001011d01c0:err:ole:std_release_marshal_data could not map object ID to stub manager, oxid=1bc000001c0, oid=201c0:err:ole:CoReleaseMarshalData StdMarshal ReleaseMarshalData failed with error 0x8001011d01dc:err:ole:std_release_marshal_data could not map object ID to stub manager, oxid=1d8000001dc, oid=201dc:err:ole:CoReleaseMarshalData StdMarshal ReleaseMarshalData failed with error 0x8001011d01f8:err:ole:std_release_marshal_data could not map object ID to stub manager, oxid=1f4000001f8, oid=201f8:err:ole:CoReleaseMarshalData StdMarshal ReleaseMarshalData failed with error 0x8001011d
Is there a known workaround for this kind of issue ? I tried various versions.Kron4ek 11.2, wine-ge-proton 8-26, caffe 9.7,soda 9.0-1, wine 10.0 none changed anything....
Good ways to reduce ram usage ?
I'm trying to run Project Diva Megamix on my Poco M7 Pro, I know that this game doesn't use that much resources on PC and i thought that at low resolutions, this was doable on my device.
However, one thing I noticed is that my mobile has 8gb of ram, and even at the menu, almost all the ram is immediately eaten by I don't know what.
I checked the task manager, the game itself is only using 1gb. taking in account the app started at around 3.5gb ram and just grew up to 6.7, reaching 7.2gb when a song is loaded (making it unplayable at this point).
I think android starts using swap memory at this point, which slows down the whole system considerably.
so i'm wondering if there would be good ways to check what exactly is using that much ram, and if there's a way to bring it down to more tolerable levels.
setup :
I'm running a Poco M7 Pro with a Mediatek Dimensity 7025 Ultra. 8GB of ram. The game runs on Bionic with
General : Proton 11.0.1-arm64ec-1, 854x480 resolution,PulseAudio
Graphics : Wrapper, System, SurfaceFlinger, DXVK, 1.12.0-sarek-0
Emulation : FEXCore 2605 with Extreme preset
You can now play most PC Key games on Android with GameNative !
GameNative is an Android app which uses Steam Proton, the same tech the Steam deck uses, combined with some x86 PC CPU emulation using FEX/Box64 for it to work on all ARM Android devices.
You can install games directly from steam with it with saves synchronisation.
It can be a bit finnicky for it to start up but by tweaking some settings the games run perfectly. Even better for games that use the Little Busters English engine. As this engine has a native touch screen mode. So if you set GameNative to touch screen, the game's controls feel just like a native android game.
WARNING : Do not ever post your Gamehub logs to anyone
I recently was having some trouble running a game on GameHub lite, so i thought about going to support forums and getting help by sharing the logs for troubleshooting. But having some experience in development, I had the thought of checking the logs first, thinking maybe i could find the issue myself.
And oh boy, thank god i didn't share my log.
Here's what I found :
What this is, is the dream of any hacker. Users who on their own, post the tokens to their whole Steam account. Bypassing the need for any password or Steam Guard.
If you posted any log anywhere, delete it right now. if you have an issue, find the exact lines in the log related to your issue, and only post those. Never the steam login token.
For safety, if you posted your log anywhere, i recommend to logout of your account from gamehub/gamehub lite in order to invalidate the session id, but for extra safety, maybe even reset your password.
I did post an issue about it on the Gamehub Lite github for it to get fixed. The steam token shouldn't be anywhere near any file meant to be posted online for troubleshooting. it should be kept as secret as possible.I find it absolutely insane to see it in plain text in the logs...
EDIT:
According to The412Banner, developer of BannerHub, the tokens appear to be single use. However as this is only one report, i'd like to get more reports to be able to definitely confirm, as for something important like this, I prefer a "better safe than sorry" approach.
It would be good to get more reports in various cases, including people using Epic Games Store or GOG to verify all tokens logged by the app are unusable.
What exact model of original 3DS is this ?
I recently won an auction of junk consoles on yahoo auctions for 11 bucks (ps2, ps1 and 3ds) as I like fixing up consoles, and when looking at the photos of the 3DS, I got a bit confused.
It's a white 3DS like many, but it actually doesn't seem to fit the pictures of white 3DS consoles I see online. With it having a black back plate and its joystick being white instead of gray.
Is it an existing edition ? I thought it maybe was a reshell, but it looks so beat up that to me it feels stock.
Not too fond of this change of direction...
I didn't have any specific negativity toward the fender integration and name change. some of the added AI features also didn't feel too bad since they stuck to things like stem separation which were a pretty beneficial feature to creators.
But it feels like with this new release they're starting to show that their goal seems to be banking on the generative AI trend in order to generate a subscription ecosystem surrounding it which is a terrible ecosystem for creators to be stuck in.
I really hope to see them reverse course as this is definitely not a road i want to see Studio One/Pro go down into.
I'll keep following the news over time, I hope Fender will realise what a mistake it is, but I don't really expect much honestly, it feels like most companies want to hop in and milk the cow while it's still "time" until it runs dry.
Can I access my xbox store bought games from aurora ?
Hi,
I basically just setup bad avatar on my 360 so that it's directly installed on the 360's internal hard drive, so it boots on aurora everytime without a need to insert a usb.
It works fine, however my purchased and installed digital xbox store games don't appear in aurora.
Is there a specific way to make them appear ?
Just got an amazing lot for 16 bucks
I expected the price to increase but in the end it stayed at 16 bucks. I originally bid mostly for the psp game but i noticed the movie trilogy bluray included is actually pretty cool too.
I don't really know what the things at the bottom are though
My custom Rin guitar is finally complete
I haven't played in months so I need to go back to practicing (so please excuse the poor playing), but I finally finished the electronics of my custom Rin guitar, making it finally usable.
It's based on a Squier Strat HSS that's been completely modded into a whole other guitar. It's equipped with 3 golden single coil pickups from fleor, a 2 point floating bridge, locking tuners (also gold colored). I got the custom pickguard printed on musicdesign, and the rin artwork is artwork I commissionned from the artist cspshino years ago.
it's not too visible on video but the pickups, the bridge and the knobs are very shiny IRL
It was sold as "junk" like many japanese items that are not perfectly working, but seems like it actually just needs a battery change according to the listing which is something I can do easily as I am used to do soldering for this kind of stuff.
What I'm wondering is if you have any advices for a new DX7 owner ?
For instance good resources on learning how to work with it to make original sounds (since i'm new to fm synthesis), the kind of recommended setup for it speaker wise etc.
I do have an audio interface to record it on my pc and i have a boss katana 50 mk2 guitar amp which i guess likely could serve temporarily (on a clean channel just to play around with all its effects like reverb, delay etc) but i'm not sure about the best kind of setup for it, not even the recommended stand to put it on.
Thanks in advance.
