[Rolex] Morning Trail Walk

Doing a morning trail walk with the Milgauss, the green crystal feels right at home in the trees. Probably not your typical trail watch but I’m enjoying it everywhere. So glad the weather is finally cooling down and it’s easier to be outside now too. What’s everyone else wearing today?

Sears Japan Forged Hammer

I saw someone had posted their 40 year old Eastwing recently and figured I should pile on with my grandad then my dad’s and now my hammer. Purchased sometime around the early to mid-70‘s from Sears, it’s going on 50+ years now and 3 generations. Forged in Japan with the forge stamp BF. Still works amazing, well balanced and I use it for everything. My dad told me it was always his favorite hammer too even though he had some others they never held up the same or felt as easy to work with on projects.

Saturday Snoopy Snowflake

It’s Snoopy Saturday with the Cold Moon snowflake Omega MoonSwatch today. It is kinda cool that all the snowflakes are unique. I waited in line (only like 5-10 people) and got this one and it’s my snowflake and there’s not another one out there. Also I love Snoopy and Woodstock so it’s such a fun watch to wear. I love the cold and winter themes but it makes a nice summer watch too 😊.

Eastport Backpack Circa 2002

Eastsport backpack bought circa 2002 from Walmart I think, Jansport was too expensive for my mom. Used everyday in high school then also college and on into adult life some too. Still use it to haul games or random things along with a leather backpack I picked up.

100% Polyester
100% Suede
Made in China

Still holding up pretty dang well 24 years later no holes, outside of the mesh in the front that I did shoving too much crap in there in high school. Might have also gotten caught at an airport on something one time.

Watch Non-Negotiables

What is/are your non-negotiables for a watch? Accuracy, Water Resistance, certain complication, automatic wind, micro adjust, color, brand, style? Curious what things are the things you have to have for you to consider wearing and purchasing? Perhaps another way to say it is if a watch doesn’t have X then you aren’t likely to purchase it.

First Scratch Day!

My 58 GMT got its first bezel scratch today! They grow up so fast. The lugs already have gotten a few knocks as you can see, the crystal is still sharp and clear as ever. Building some good character! Happy Sunday everyone!

Tudor Hiking Trip

Trying out this free strap from the AD on the Bb58 GMT. Going on a hike this morning and seemed to fit the occasion. I’m also considering getting the old Goldfinger Bond RAF/Nato style for it.

I love the bracelet but have always been more of a strap guy on most my watches.

2003 Tilley T3 Model Hat

Picked up this hat as NOS(or lightly used) a little while ago and it’s rapidly become the one I throw on anytime I’m going out especially during the spring and summer. Shove it into travel bags, it’s been to two different countries so far, multiple trips and always keeps the sun off my face.

Wear it in or around the pool and it’ll hold my sunglasses, I know they changed hands a few years ago and only a few models are still made in Canada to varying degrees of quality. I have a newer one too in dark green that’s a Canadian model that I break out in the fall and winter. This is the model made with 10 ounce duck cotton which is nice and breathable in the hot climate I live in too.

Toss it in the wash after removing the foam piece in the top whenever it needs it, it’s one size too big on me but with the straps usually still sits on my head fine. If it’s super windy putting one of the flaps up really helps. Idk if that’s what they are for but it seemed to work.

You wouldn’t know it’s 23 years old already at all!

First Pair Converse

Never had any converse shoes before because I’m flat footed so generally avoided them. However I was at Ross the other day and found these NOS from Holiday 2012-2015 era. Apparently closest I could find to an ID is they are the low boot moccasin ox All Stars and some sort of collab or limited holiday edition. They are thick canvas and heavy rubber bottoms I was shocked at how substantial they feel compared to newer ones I’ve seen. Feel like they were a solid score for $20.

Lume Shot

Lume Shot

Not gonna blind anyone but honestly it’s just enough for me and lasts all night (8-10 hours). Love the soft light blue, noticed it after walking inside to check the time.

Share your favorite lume shots!

Leather Jacket Summer?

Wearing leather jacket in the summer? Is it always a no-go?

It’s 28C during the day and 19-20C at night, so not wearing it for warmth fully, more for styling. I’ve found I do better in the heat with jeans and t-shirts or linen shirts usually. Most places I’m at are air conditioned to overcorrect for the warmth. If I’m outside or walking around I generally don’t have the jacket on, it’s usually sitting still or inside when I might wear it. Does anyone else wear their jackets in the summer? It’s still much cooler to me than wearing a suit/long sleeves which many do in the summer as well.

I usually stick with my lighter lamb jackets but they are darker leather whereas my unlined 582 and wine colored 530 feel like a good weight to me and are a little lighter colored.

Schott 530 and 582 Summer

Wearing leather jacket in the summer?

It’s 28C during the day and 19-20C at night, so not wearing it for warmth alone obviously. I’ve found I do better in the heat with longer pants and shirts usually. Most places I’m at are air conditioned to overcorrect for the warmth. If I’m outside or walking around I generally don’t have the jacket on, it’s usually sitting still or inside. Does anyone else wear their jackets in the summer? Usually just with jeans and lighter color t-shirt.

Omega Rescue

I rescued this 15-20 years ago from a flea market. Someone had swapped the case likely for the silver content at some point in the past. It was produced around 1945 but I’m not sure the movement or reference?

I found a replacement case that fit close to the year then a replacement glass and mounted it using a clever metal holder I found on Etsy. Managed to get all that onto a leather wrist/bund cuff made at a local leather shop where I worked. I haven’t found the right crown for it yet as that was swapped too, and sadly the dial is scratched up on the edges by the railroad minute track due to the case and glass they moved it into not fitting fully.

It still needs a service but does run so far and keeps ok time still.
