DIGGER - Tom Cruise Retrospective Trailer

I laughed when I heard about this trailer, both because it sounded ridiculous and because we're like 3-4 months out from the movie opening and they still haven't bothered to promote AT ALL anything that tells us what the movie is about.

But damn if I didn't get hyped up seeing some of Cruise's highlights of the last 45 years. Dude has been delivering for a long time.

Legendary TV director James Burrows dies at 85

Dude directed:

75 of the 114 episodes of Taxi

237 of the 275 episodes of Cheers

15 episodes of Friends, including the first 4 (which obviously sets the tone for the show visually)

All 246 episodes of Will & Grace

And directed more than 50 pilot episodes (and over 1,000 total episodes of TV) for other shows including Frasier, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Mike & Molly, NewsRadio, 2 Broke Girls, and Roc.

Lisa Kudrow has talked many times about what a mentor figure he was to the whole cast of Friends, and is why she cast him in her HBO show The Comeback as the director of the show.

I got Apple TV recently and have been watching a bunch of stuff

I got it for free, I don't even remember from where/why now.

But I have re-watched Ted Lasso, which is one of my all-time comfort shows.

Watched Vince Gilligan's Pluribus, with Rhea Seahorn, about a hive mind taking over the world, which was phenomenal.

Watched Shrinking, with Jason Segel, Jessica Williams, and Harrison Ford, about psychiatrists and their patients. Really good stuff.

And just last night finished Sugar, with Colin Farrell as a private detective looking for a girl in LA. Neo-noir that totally worked for me.

I've got a few other things lined up to watch that I just haven't yet, but I haven't been watching as many movies recently because I've been watching a bunch of shows.

If you haven't ever given Apple TV a chance, there's a bunch of good stuff on there. I like to switch out which streamers I have at any given time, and am happy to have this one right now.

Anybody else seen any of these, or other Apple shows?

Obsession director Curry Barker says Gen Z is tired of Hollywood slop and wants good movies back. The filmmaker argues that audiences aren't bored of cinema, they're bored of endless sequels, recycled ideas and billion dollar franchises that feel safer than they do creative.
