The Story of Lou/SR/Thomas Stanphill?

I remember watching the original videos back in the day and thought they were hilarious..the ones where his voice calls people, whereas a bunch of the ones on YouTube now are the real him getting called by another soundboard. Does anybody know how to find the old ones (think the channel was Realm of Darkness or something)?

Also, what is the dude's story? I know he is apparently in Slovenia now..and another Redditor had spoken with his daughter Brittany. But does anybody know more about him - his upbringing, careers, was he really in the Marines, etc?

Any idea where to find other pictures of him, either? I've only seen the one where he's holding the grapes. Until that point, I genuinely thought he was the Dent Myers guy from the pics..the real SR looks nothing like his voice!

Really wanted to know more about the guy, and maybe chase down some of his old videos for my 2am YouTube weird hour.

JCM Farming/Oasis Ranch Update

Hey guys,

Ready to dig back into this rabbit hole? There's been a bunch of posts on this over the years, I also made a pretty popular one with my old account a long time ago. I thought it would be interesting to take a step back from solely speculating on the Oasis Ranch itself, and instead to break down the family and related company(ies) and try to work out some theories. Don't worry, I'll get to the ranch too..

Oh, and for those who have been living under a rock - 54560 Arabia St, Thermal, CA is the Oasis Ranch. You can Google a million articles and Reddit posts about it, as well as JCM Farming, online..

I also wanted to draw a rough timeline as to how things happened, and see if we can piece together some logic here.

In the early 80's, John C Marrelli started Ironclad (trash bag company) with his buddy Michael Rodolakis. It took off pretty quickly, and was rivaling some of the biggest names in the business. At some point in the late 1990's/early 2000's, the company shut down abruptly. They were doing just over $22mil/year in revenue, and permanently shut down within weeks of announcing the closure. There are rumors that Home Depot or Kirkland bought the company or paid a percentage to leverage the patents for their own trash bags - but for the sake of simplicity, let's just assume that around year 2000, Marrelli is swimming with a few hundred million in cash and lots of time on his hands.

JCM farming was incorporated in the 1990's, which started with random olive/date/almond farms in the Central CA region..Oasis Ranch (formerly Mission Santa Rosa) was not built until the early 2000's (initial purchase/construction started earlier, mainly foundation for the plants/trees infrastructure..I'm referring to the buildings themselves, which were built around 2003-2004).

I'd also like to mention that John Marrelli had a first wife, Marina, who passed away in 2012 (not to be confused with the person named Marina Marrelli in San Diego who runs GlobeFlex capital)..you can Google the obituary online, it references her & John's daughter Marilena ("Mailena" was a typo in some articles), who is now the president of JCM farming and the affiliated companies like Equity AG.

At some point, anywhere between the early 80's when Marilena was born to the early 2000's, John & Marina divorced and John remarried Carol Shaffer (later, Marrelli), who was listed as the one who ran JCM with him. However, Marilena definitely came from John & Marina's marriage, per Marina's obit. Whether JCM stands for John C Marrelli, or John and Carol Marrelli, is up for speculation. The wikipedia page says JCM had its roots in heirs to an agriculture operation dating back to the early 1900's..if true, maybe this came from Carol's side of the family? It would explain the odd shift from Trash Bag mogul to agricultural titan..to this day, JCM is one of the largest almond suppliers in all of California. Maybe after Ironclad, John flush with cash, Carol somehow opened a door to agricultural opportunities which laid the foundation for JCM.

Somehow, this trash bag multi-millionaire eventually became involved in agriculture, security services and technology, law enforcement/gov agencies, DNA/biological experiments with plant growing techniques, and per Oasis Ranch - VIP hosting.

There have been rumors that John and Carol have passed away in the last 10 years or so. Whether true or not - in August of last year, the title records for all JCM properties (including John/Carol's Rancho Santa Fe mansion, several Central CA farms, and the Oasis Ranch in Indio/Thermal) have all recently been changed to new (and similarly named) revocable trusts, with daughter Marilena listed as the President of JCM Farming on the docs, as well as head of the trusts. It appears that she is now in charge of those properties as well as (presumably) all affiliated entities tied to JCM and John Marrelli, like Equity AG. I don't want to risk doxxing by posting screenshots, but I have access to a title company account, and all these properties were transferred to "Horizon 1 revocable trust, Horizon 2, Horizon 3, etc." through Marilena..which were previously owned (on title) by either John/Carol Marrelli, or JCM Farming.

What I find interesting is that Marilena's longtime husband, Henk Visser, works a fairly modest job (per LinkedIn)..their primary residence in San Diego is relatively modest as well..considering the much more lavish properties she seems to now be in control of. I do not want to dox, so I will let you all Google and look into it yourself. Their primary home is probably $3-4mil, which I'd consider tame compared to the other properties she now owns/controls, and has chosen to not move into or sell any of them.

This brings us back to Oasis Ranch. Whatever it started as, there is a good chance it is no longer (if it ever was) a personal residence of the Marrelli family or JCM. There was a time when Trump's buddy Tom Barrack was assumed to be the owner of the $400mil mega mansion in Bel Air because his name was all over the title and construction docs/permits..it wasn't until much later that we learned he was just the "face" of it while the actual ruling family of Qatar commissioned the entire thing and lived there, which didn't "really" hit the news until it went on the market. While many probably didn't "think" Tom Barrack actually owned it, we had nobody else to look at beyond speculation..I think JCM is similar, at least as far as Oasis Ranch goes.

Based on everything I've said so far, the entire operation, especially Oasis Ranch, screams "figurehead"..even if John & Carol Marrelli are still alive, which I think is unlikely, they certainly aren't running the show anymore. With all the money pouring in from being a huge almond and olive oil distributor, along with all of John Marrelli's patents, and the hundreds of millions he would have left Marilena, along with all the properties, she seemingly chooses to live a relatively modest lifestyle in a nice (but not NICE) neighborhood in San Diego. While singlehandedly running what is likely a several hundred million to billion dollar a year agricultural operation. Marilena running the show would also explain JCM's recent lawsuit against "The Plantation Club" in Indio, an exclusive men-only golf course close to Oasis Ranch. John Marrelli was a member for many years, but only NOW they have a problem with the no-women policy? Definitely sounds like the work of a woman running a very powerful operation with top notch lawyers at her disposal, as we all know John and Carol were no strangers to bringing numerous lawsuits to anybody who even slightly irritated them (like the several hot air balloons they permanently put out of business as a result of the legal fees)..why wouldn't the daughter, who now runs JCM, utilize their services in a similar way?

To speculate, IF I were a shady rich guy or Gov spook, there is no way in hell I'd have the Oasis Ranch transferred into my name or even an offshore LLC that could ever be remotely traced to me..in fact, I probably wouldn't have the title changed/transferred at all. Movie stars, billionaires, crime leaders, they do it all the time - property stays in an unrelated party's name, sometimes seller doesn't even transfer title (on paper) after the sale. The other company Marilena runs, Equity AG, provides financing, strategy, ownership, and consulting services for agricultural operations. Very good chance they are the "face" for whomever really owns/operates the Oasis Ranch. Similar to my example of Tom Barrack & the Qatari royal mansion.

To be fair, many of their other JCM farming operations in CA, along with John/Carol's former San Diego mansion, have similar "Guard Dog, security, etc." signs at the gate, per Google street view..but nowhere NEAR that of Oasis Ranch, which not only has dozens of cameras, but signs warning of an 'armed response and arrest', 'no recording', as well as several guard towers.

I will continue adding updates/edits as they come to mind, as I'm sure I missed some things. Sort of just powered through this post in a single whack..

Excited to hear your thoughts!

Did Rob or Nick ever get charged in the 7FM case?

I remember the court docs mentioning somebody hit 7FM with a dumbbell. But I haven’t really seen much of Rob or Nick since the whole thing. They were on camera.

Do you think they took a plea to snitch on Wes or something? They haven’t exactly been as “enthusiastic” as Hosay with the Wes praise lately..

Being good at chess does not mean you are super intelligent

I blame tv/movies, but plenty of people seem to think that if somebody is good at chess that they are automatically super intelligent. Or that any 8 year old kid who knows how to play chess is going to be the next version of Good Will Hunting.

Being able to see several moves ahead, or have several possible moves memorized, comes largely from experience in the game rather than raw intelligence alone.

Is there a link between chess skills and intelligence? Probably. But even then, there is probably a huge caveat. Are many intelligent people good at chess/are many good chess players intelligent? Sure, but it's not necessarily a direct correlation.

Somebody with a high IQ will not automatically be great at chess, and being great at chess does not automatically mean you are extremely intelligent. On a high level, it just means you are good/experienced at chess.

I like chess and enjoy playing from time to time. But I've met far too many people who have played for 6 hrs/day for the past 20 years and think they are Albert Einstein for beating everybody they play against.

Squidward should just eat Mr. Krabs

For starters, Squidward is anatomically incorrect. An octopus’s mouth/beak is where all their tentacles meet - where Squidward’s anus would be. He’s also technically a hexapus, not an octopus.

But more importantly, octopi eat crabs. Instead of putting up with all of Mr. Krabs’ BS over the years, Squidward should just eat him like a normal octopus would.

And while we’re at it - Mr. Krabs’ daughter Pearl, a sperm whale (for some reason), should eat Squidward since sperm whales eat octopus.

The show missed some great opportunities here.

20,000 sq ft Architectural Abomination in Vegas

I truly don't know what to make of this atrocity. Exit signs, a commercial elevator, the tackiest 1990's decor - and they have the audacity to list it for $11 million. Total gut job renovation at best.

It's also in North Las Vegas, way north..not usually where you'd imagine dropping over $10mil when it comes to "Vegas" properties. Almost a 30 min drive to the strip.

The Original IT movie (1990) is better than the new one(s)

I originally wanted to say Tim Curry was a better Pennywise than Bill, but that might not be quite so unpopular.

While the newer IT had better special effects and all that (it was made almost 30 years later), I felt that the original was way creepier.

Obviously, Tim Curry carried the movie, hands down. The rest of the actors were..we'll say less than great. And the spider (in both movies) was pretty lame. But I feel like the new IT movies relied heavily on special effects and jump scares, whereas the original had more of a "slow burn" feel to it. Think about the old history scrapbook vs. the projector scene. Tim Curry also wasn't so 'in your face' with the monster stuff, he was genuinely a normal (albeit creepy) clown who got weirder and weirder the longer he talked to you.

To give credit where it's due: The Georgie scene in the new one was superior. That's it. Oh, and Bill Hader was awesome.

Overall, I think the original movie was better and did not "try so hard" to make the scary scenes scary. It has its flaws, like any movie, but I'll take it over the new ones - which seemed to target a much younger/broader audience and, hence, was more focused on box office numbers than making it as scary as possible.

Imagine working for this guy

He’s literally 30 and has already lost his lust for life. “No Thursday night drinks..since when was Thursday a thing” bro just because nobody ever invites you doesn’t mean it’s not a thing.

The comments are hilarious, Kiran knows what’s up.

Return of the Jedi is better than Empire Strikes Back

I love them both, and I'm well aware that Empire is widely considered the GOAT, but overall I really think ROTJ is much more fun to watch.

If nothing else, one could at least make the argument that ROTJ had "higher highs" than Empire. Empire was great, and as a proper "second of the three" movie, kept a constant flow of action and story line without a real beginning or end. It stayed at a solid 8-9 the whole movie, whereas ROTJ definitely peaked some 10 moments.

I'll admit, I could have seen a bit less of the ewoks and their shenanigans in ROTJ, but the movie still had some legendary scenes like the opening sequence in Tatooine and the unforgettable ending with the Emperor and Vader. While Luke's training in Empire was fun & necessary to watch, I also liked that he is already a full blown Jedi in ROTJ.

Some will say the 2nd death star was lazy (it was), or it was too much of a "feel good" movie, lacking the conflict and peril from Empire. But overall, I think ROTJ was a masterpiece and was a great ending to the trilogy.

It will likely get picked apart in the comments, but this is my unpopular opinion. ROTJ > Empire

Awesome Cliffside Home in Laguna Beach listed at $112 million

This home is truly one of a kind - cantilevered off the cliff. The master bedroom has a retractable roof over the (rotating) bed. Below it, there is a glass panel beneath the corkscrew staircase that literally looks over the crashing waves below. Below the pool deck, there is a staircase that takes you down to a small secluded beach.

From what I recall, it is also the only house in all of Laguna Beach that has its own private tennis court. The tennis court also acts as the rooftop for a large 8 car garage. As somebody who grew up in the area - believe me, having a massive home (15k sq ft), with a pool, tennis court, large grassy area, hanging right on the cliffs with stairs to the beach in a place like Laguna is truly unheard of. While the price might seem ridiculous, keep in mind that a much smaller house nearby just sold for $110mil. (Google $110mil house Emerald Bay)

This house is amazing, and I think it's just quirky and funky enough to be a good fit for this sub. Enjoy!

Raisins are gross and unwelcomed

They are the most unwelcomed part of any food/dish, giant boogers is what they are.

First off, they're deceptive - you think you've got a chocolate chip in your cookie..nope just some old dried fruit!

They get stuck in your teeth so if one accidentally finds its way into your mouth, you're gonna taste that old fruit for awhile.

They are never subtle, never blend into the dish, and never make it better..they lay scattered across your entire meal, silently mocking - you either pick them out of your dish, or embrace the suck.

I honestly think they were just a marketing ploy from Big Fruit as a way to sell off all the expired grapes. I like grapes, but I have never heard anybody say, "boy, I'm really craving some raisins right now".

Raisins are an abomination.

Heath Ledger played the best 'movie' Joker

Most of you will probably say Jared Leto or Joaquin Phoenix were the best, or even Jack Nicholson..but Heath Ledger's performance was unmatched. I specifically say "movie" Joker because bringing Mark Hamill's Joker into this wouldn't really be a fair comparison - while he was amazing, he really just voiced a cartoon and didn't actually play the Joker entirely.

I know I'm the odd man out here, and most of you will probably disagree, but Jared Leto's "gangster" joker was not great..they made this big deal of him being a mEtHoD aCtOr sending dead rats/dead flowers to the cast or whatever, but it came off as super pretentious and his performance sucked - not even as the Joker, just as a character in general.

Joaquin's Joker was a masterclass in deep-seated mental issues and unresolved trauma, and it was both interesting and unsettling. However, we all know he wouldn't last 5 seconds going toe to toe with Batman (or Heath's Joker), so I can't really count it as a "Batman movie Joker", mainly just an interesting take on the societal and mental factors that turned the Joker into what he eventually became.

As for the Nicholson Joker - he was great. He was as dangerous as he was silly..at the time, he was the best Joker on screen, but he doesn't hold up to Ledger's masterpiece, nor would he last 5 minutes with Christian Bale's Batman. Rewatching the Nicholson Joker movie, it was a lot more corny and campy than I remembered, still fun to watch but it was no TDK. He also screamed like a bitch when he fell from the rooftop, while Ledger's Joker laughed maniacally in true Joker fashion.

Again, I know I'm sort of the black sheep here..but this is my unpopular opinion.

Elon Musk's Former Bel Air Home Listed at $49.8mil

To give credit where it's due - it is in a highly desirable part of Bel Air, if you're into that kind of thing (personally, I'm not). Meaning, there are 1000 other places I'd choose if I had $50mil to spend. It was one of Elon's main properties before he decided to sell them all to 'get rid of all material possessions'.

The wine cellar is cool, but the rest of the house is pretty underwhelming. Low ceilings, weird finishes & decor, and small rooms. None of the rooms, save the office/library, make me say "Wow this is a true ESTATE!" No "wow factor" upon arrival, you pull up directly to the garages and enter the front door through this weird side entrance. No grand foyer (in pics anyway, which they'd include if it were worth showing)..just hallways and rooms. I bet it sells for $35mil max, based solely on location alone, and gets a massive gut job and renovation right after.

Best described by saying it looks promising on the surface, but inside it is full of hot air and consistently underdelivers on its promise. Elon aside, I would also describe this property the same way.

Ladies & Gentlemen, a very boring and underwhelming way to spend $50mil..
