Would it be weird to alter how I write my name in kana to suit a nickname I want?

My first name in katakana would ideally be ジョシュア, and I have no problems with it. But since I've been young all my closest friends (we're all English speakers) have called me Wa as a nickname from the last syllable of my first name and it's really grown on me. If I were given a Japanese style nickname I'd much rather it be ワくん or ワさん to suit this, as opposed to ジョさん or smthng like that, but that would only really work if my name is written as ジョシュワ instead... which doesn't drastically affect the pronunciation but you can tell it's still off

I don't have any close Japanese friends as of the moment so it's not like this is remotely relevant to anything. Just asking if it's unusual or even unnecessary to intentionally 'misspell' my name like this

What metal bands are most well-known to the general public?

I've been interested in the Japanese metal scene for some time now: been getting into Dir En Grey and ikd-sj over the past few months. But I'm curious which bands are well-known to the general Japanese public who don't listen to metal

In the West for example, anyone will recognize names like Metallica and Iron Maiden even if they've never heard a metal song in their life, and thanks to social media Slipknot has become really prominent in public consciousness as well. I wonder what the equivalent heavyweights are in Japan right now

Albums like Incubus' Morning View?

This album was the perfect combination of nu metal and sombre alt rock that fit right in the middle of my taste and cemented itself as one of my favorite albums yet. Circles is one of my favorite nu metal riffs ever and the melody on 11 am is really catchy too

What other albums fit that middle ground between the genres as well as this one?

Any nu metal songs with female vocalists?

I'd like to think I've checked out most of the popular listings in this already: Evanescence, Kittie, Velcra, Flyleaf. Spiritbox and Lacuna Coil aren't nu metal either but I love their vocal styles so much

I find smaller artists on my Insta feed with one or two singles that fit this perfectly, but I'm hoping for deep cuts with more discography to explore

Instances of translations changing the lore or other details?

The main example of this I can think of is Kamado being revealed to speak in a British accent in the English translation, while speaking in 𝘬𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘢𝘪-𝘣𝘦𝘯. So his home region is either Galar or Johto depending on which translation of the game you're playing.

Any other instances like this? Even if they're minor

What's your fandom's "Viggo Mortensen broke his toe while filming that scene in The Two Towers"?

See title. What's a fun fact you feel compelled to mention every time you introduce someone to your fandoms movies/episodes/games/comics?

Mine would be Clefairy was originally meant to be the mascot of the Pokémon franchise, but it was replaced with Pikachu because they thought the lack of yellow characters in kids anime would catch kids' eyes flipping through channels and get the anime more watchtime. Another is Jason Todd's death in the comics being the result of a fan poll over phone, with fans having to choose between two numbers to decide if he lives or dies and 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 over 50% of them choosing to kill him off

Batches of songs that share the same name as each other?

Bonus points if they're nu metal/post-hardcore cause that's usually what I listen to

Movies about the mysticism of the Old West?

Rango's one of my favorite movies and part of what makes it so cool is how spiritual it all is: there's literal magic out in the desert that's almost ineffable. I also remember watching the direct-to-video sequel to Atlantis as a kid and the segment with the coyote spirits was the coolest part of it

Basically any movie or other media that really delves into the supernatural or mystical in a Western setting. I've looked a little bit into mythologies of native peoples from the Southwest and it's too interesting for none of it to be adapted to screen

Any Japanese movie with a good jazz soundtrack?

Recently finished Catwoman Hunted, not a masterpiece by any means but the soundtrack is fire. Great Pretender is also a favorite anime of mine and the soundtrack is similarly great

You got any other Japanese movies, animated or otherwise, with a similarly great jazz score?

Batman: Creature of the Night is a psychological masterpiece

Just finished this run (if you can call it that being only 4 issues) and holy shit it was incredible. It's definitely the most unique take on Batman I've ever encountered: without spoiling too much this version of Bruce lives in Boston - our real world - growing up reading Batman comics and idolizing the character. He too looses his parents and his trauma warps the Caped Crusader into something unrecognizable.

I just really want to recommend it to people, or on the off chance anyone here has read it maybe yap about it a little bit

Movies where a supporting character (on the protagonist's side) is revealed to be a psychopath without changing alliance?

Think similar to (SPOILERS FOR BREAKING BAD) Todd during the train heist: the reveal worked because Todd was genuinely doing what he thought was best for the plan, and its the ease of it that makes the moment so shocking. I'd love movies that make use of that more if you have any

Which 𝘰𝘯𝘦 song best encapsulates Linkin Park's original sound?

If I'm trying to introduce somebody to Linkin Park and they have no idea whatsoever of the band's sound, and I were restricted to just one song, which one would give them all the best aspects in one?

I had initially considered Don't Stay cause imo its melody is the best example of their nu metal sound, with how evenly it balances the down-tuned guitars and the turntables, but I'd prefer a track that highlights Mike Shinoda's rapping segments as well

Give me a rundown of most major bands with controversial members?

I very recently stumbled onto a few songs I liked by Disturbed (Ten Thousand Fists goes pretty hard), and I talked to a friend about it who told me very kindly that David Draiman's not a good person so the community tries to stay clear of most of the band's work. I agree that his views are terrible and would rather be aware of which bands/artists I should similarly stay clear off

I'd appreciate a quick rundown of just the well-known names to avoid, idw this happening again

An infinitely long snake slithers into an infinitely wide bar

The infinitely tall bartender asks "What would you like?" an infinite number of times. She has been asking the same question since time immemorial.

The snake says "A double entendre," but takes an infinite amount of time to complete her request. She began talking when the universe was created.

The bartender pours an infinitely voluminous double entendre. Unfortunately for the snake, the drink is infinitely expensive.

The snake makes an infinite number of excuses about having left her infinite number of wallets in her infinite number of other purses.

"Hold on," says the bartender. "If you have an infinite number of wallets in an infinite number of purses, how come you don't have either?"

"In an infinite universe, everything happens eventually," says the snake.

The bartender then beats the snake to death for sleeping with her wife.
