Before anyone asks, I'm a fan of both, and I think HTTYD is one of the few franchises, in my opinion, that could surpass my praise of Avatar films.

Why do I think Toothless could top Toruk Makto?

Let's just say in the 2020s decade, the Avatar Legends community (not ATLA nostalgia grifters) who loved Korra for healthy native rep with an esoteric journey got a nasty reaction to the Avatar sequels, especially those who understood the controversy from THOSE films when they came out.

It appears to be strained since Vox got way too carried away as Val is not talking to him

To me is fine and harmless, ages so well after 25 years, it rivals the Mufasa film and even the Avatar sequels with photorealism despite being made in the tail end of the 90s. This is a film I grew up with since I was 5-7 yrs old, back when dinosaurs were everything in my life. Now, at 32 is still an amazing film to look at after this time.

My guess is the hate is from people not realising that masterpieces like Beauty and the Beast/ Lion King/ Hunchback of Notre Dame experienced executive pushback too.

My other guess is early 2000s there were effects-heavy masterpieces like Kill Bill Vol. 1-2, the Matrix Trilogy, Star Wars Prequels, and the LOTR trilogy. As a Tolkien fan, I understand were is coming from. Putting masterpieces on a very high horse does not give them an excuse to trash other films or franchises that don't meet some merits.

For a few years, I have been a Godzilla fan myself; I have an interest in Shimo for being a charismatic chameleon. I even made a graduate-level spec-evo ecology with grass hedgehogs and aloe spiders in Spain.

Why is Titan X equally charismatic? Because her design is based on a crocodile, but what if a crocodile decided to grow tentacles. Her design, based on crocs living in the abyss, reminds me of other abominations in other mythologies. I heard that there was a mythical crocodile in Aztec mythology before Earth was made.

Here's mine

-Ice Worm resembles a centipede and a DUNE worm, with elements of Cambrian predators. Based on my ecology, its aggression stems from territorial disputes because it doesn't want its ecosystem disrupted. A reminder of DUNE worms protecting Arrakis from being exploited or from crossing over its territory. It is never a good idea to get near its territory, as these animals tend to defend the delicate balance of the ecosystem.

-Sea emperor is a reminder that somewhere out there there are other sentient beings which are very alien in nature. In Subnautica, we got this massive whale-cephapod which is literally out of this world. Imagin how alien that sentient species looks; a massive cephalopod looks both creative and beautiful, expressing an alien nature. It would be nice one day if we visited space squid beings beyond our imagination. Whales make sense as they are seekers of the deep, but cephalopods remind us of the true alien nature that secret space is keeping.

Name: snapping basilisk (Basiliscus varenator)

Na'vi: pay'yoten

Taxonomy: Relative of Yoten. Based on the basilisk lizard because, like Yoten, which is based on iguanas, they are related. Based on close analysis, echostalkers are actually a variant of this basilisk wich explains shamans' mention of blind prophets. This makes Hyaenidae chiroptera a dubious genus, which is now reclassified as Basiliscus hyeana

Physiology: The sail makes it cooler (inspired by Diplovenator from JW: A Game). Big eyes and saber teeth based on Varen from Mass Effect. Paws from Valens too, aww

Behavior and ecology: Scavenge for food, similar to monitor lizards. Heroic adaptation of Varren since they DO act like monitors, but as guard dogs for most elusive shamans. They interact with their mates with their fleshy crest.

Na'vi Lore: swamp ''demon'' from long gone past, in the ancient waters of Pandora before the first songs- these animals used to roam before the People. Now they are part of the people, cleaning the waste from villages of Ometicaya, Tipani, and others. Very ideal pets for elders and shamans, for their unique secretions for healing. They are effective problem solvers through analysis and a very large awareness of their surroundings. Echostalkers are the darker counterpart to Western Fronter because they see more of blind prophets.

Inspirations: Snappers from Meg 2, Verran from Mass Effect, Diplovenator from JW: A, Rocky from PHM (personality), and Renamon from Digimon, being a mystical fox demon connected to people.

History: It dates back to 2023 as a domesticated orange colored Viperwolf OC named Pumpkin. But I want to give it elements from the guard dog from Mass Effect, using a wetland lizard from a canceled Avatar game as inspiration to blend it with the wonderful world of Pandora. Yoten feels like a canon version as well; I wanted a more possible portrayal of ancient amphibians because what Meg 2 did was VERY disrespectful and dirty, in my opinion. This is why I never hunt Echostalkers and other crawlers in A-FoP because I have to play Na'vi. In this spec-evo, it shows a more positive view, just like how Yoten and blind prophets are respected, unlike how Snappers are treated.

Another thing is to give a bit of Rocky charm from PHM, but find a way to blend a conventional fox-like animal with Rocky's alien appearance. I decided to use Diplovenator from JW: A and Renamon from Digimon with Kitsune mythology elements, without becoming human, to show the actual sentience of what Rocky's kind actually is.

Disclaimer: For anyone's perverted colonial fantasies towards non-human beings who deeply relate to humans, I want to make it loud and CLEAR. ROCKY IS NOT THAT NAIVE TO FOLLOW COLONIST-MINDED FAKE PHM FANS. Seriously, Rocky would just find out how aggresive this people are, and he would ninja-teleport to the Na'vi to confiscate that fake PHM fan with a colonist bias to the Water Temple from OoT for a terrorist threat to Pandora.

Clarity- Avatar films are never meant to be like your auntie's Ferngully nor your prosocial televised Disney Pochantas during Thanksgiving season.

Rama is one of Vishnu's avatars who descends to Earth to uphold duty (Dharma) when an evil force disrupts the delicate balance.

-Rama was stripped of his comfort zone and sent to the untamed wilderness; Jake ends up on Pandora, wondering.

-Like other Avatars of Vishnu, Rama is destined to restore order and balance. Jake is a literal chimeric hybrid to bridge between worlds to avoid conflict.

-Rama is married to Sita, who promised grace to the land. Jake bonded with Neytiri, who feels the pulse of Pandora. Both Sita and Neytiri are MVP and emotional support if things get too heavy.

-Rama fights a demon king with obcession of expanding his golden empire. Jake knows RDA never cares about humanity, as they just want an excuse to pillage

-Rama acts as protector of cosmic order by honor and defending the right. Jake tames a Turok with similarities to Garuda, the God of courage itself.

My take on the Na'vi is that they make them ideal for progressing civilization based on Devas. Not your noble savage who hates humanity's guts because they see themselves as animals, which is very problematic for real cultures.

-I see you, seeing your true self depending on intentions. Some people are too corrupted to show their hearts because of ego.

-Non-attachment to avoid greedy desires and be non-violent.

-Advanced bio-tech/biopunk with kuru that affects their surroundings, similar to celestial beings that affect the cosmic order.

-Worship the mother goddess (Shakti) herself by unifying all souls into one so they could harvest as much as they needed. All is one.

Pandora is actually a blissful realm for Na'vi, which is why it doesn't want humans to interfere, rather than colonial bias nonsense from star-obsessed detractors. (More of Buddhist esoteric POV)

-Connect to the Tree of Souls so ancestors continue to thrive.

-Unite the entire clan with kuru to become one.

-State of zen to avoid laziness

-Expects compassion and kindness of all things.

Jake is also very well developed, for example-

-He sheds his human ego to restore cosmic balance by accepting himself as part of THE people

-Jake taming Turok mirrors that of wrathful deities, wrathful guardians who protect innocence from ignorant demonic force.

-Jake is a symbol of Buddhahood in a way by shedding his fake chimeria body to be reborn as a Na'vi, so Pandora is reminded of balance.

See, with Hindu-Buddhist esoteric philosophy, this makes franchises actually pro-civilized and pro-progress, not this guilt-tripping " humans are evil nonsense. Which makes Jake Sully an ideal Na'vi husband.

BTW, if Na'vi looked more explicitly bio-punk, Devi-like space elves, people won't complain that it shames their history and simp over them like no tomorrow because of how cyberpunk and star-stories spoiled them

Zoey, ''within the canyons of Great North is a vast, ridged region filled with elk, moose, and camels, where one can find the exotic animals mentioned in Alaskan legends.'

I spotted large porcupines resembling bird nests, crested porcupines, and river armadillos. As forested valleys are bound to happen for double-crested Brickets- Tenontorex. This paradise also houses two apex predators: Tundra Pteraquetzal and blue-striped-Megalocevia.

Tundra Pteraquetzal inspired the Thunderbird, as believed, a massive bird created thunder by beating its wings. This inspired Pacific coastal natives to create totems based on this beautiful flyer. It possesses a crest to attract its mates; its bill is large enough to snatch its prey.

Syviaceratops, a relative of the massive shovel-tusked Lystrosaurus, is part of Calyceratops- a descendant of Pachyrinosaurus and Skryrosaurus. This ceratopisna are evolved elongated frills similar to its plains cousins.

Apex land predator of the north is the blue-striped megalocevia. They are known for their sail that tends to glow neon blue to help trick their prey at night before an ambush. It thrives near shores, rivers, and marshes because it is adapted similarly to bears. Natives called them grizzly-orca. Is inspired by mythology that orcas have terrestrial forms that resembled wolves, which explains sail is mistaken for an orca fin. The glow from the sail comes from fungus they eat. To hide from skittish prey like Syviaceratops and deer, they covered themselves in moss-filled mud.

Most common animals in the region are Kentrodonts; they evolved from Stygimolock, and they are adapted to thrive in mountains similar to goats. Unlike Kentrosons in South America, northern species have feathers, thir dome form crest hence the name- Royal Shield Kentrodonts. Natives occasionally breed them for their feathers. There are reports they grew fungus so it could be harvested for food in a harmless and non-violent way. Unlike South American cousins, they have a very bad temper.''

He collects imp horns and loan shark teeth as trophies; we know where those shark teeth come from- dead loan sharks who are like Chaz.

This is how psychopaths express their fetish, similar to trophy hunters. I doubt their child will have a happier time bonding with their dad during hunting because they might end up traumatized like Moxxie.

Even Millie knows what psychopaths are because she dealt with them in the past. All those 'exposing trophy hunters' on Twitter made me feel so bad about children because they might get abused by their psychopathic excuse for a father. This is a harsh reminder of how trophy collectors treat their children, even when trying to bond with them, but it is going to leave nasty scars in the future.

Moxxie is still traumatized, which explains why he's in alert mode, self-doubt, and soft. Thankfully, he opened up to Millie that his father is a monster.

Zuko, who equally has a psychopathic excuse of a father to Moxxie,' That's rough, buddy.'

Note: This is from Zen POV, where Earth kingdom philosophy is based on (morso in metal clan), where all things are connected in their purest form in life to sustain harmony.

Before anyone asks, I'm aware Metal Police is a friendlier counterpart of Dai Li. Metal Police keep the peace in the city, but without brainwashing and harsh imprisonment. They only target hostile thugs who are harassing non-benders.

In The Rift comic, Toph is written as a mean-spirited, sassy teen who doesn't care about spirits. This is not Toph; Toph is a rebel who just wants to fit in.

In the original show, Toph learned metalbending by feeling the earth within the metal box with her seismic sense. The comic missed an arc about Toph realizing she could've held still and listened to others- even more emotional character development is hearing their heartbeats that the comic missed.

In the original show, Toph becomes resilient by becoming THE hardest stone by keeping her ground to protect others in need. The writers of the comic forgot to write a character making a compromise by creating boundaries to keep harmony intact and respect Aang's wishes.

The comic created unnecessary drama for Toph because ironicly as elderly she went to the swamp to hear everything. Her behavior in the comic contradicts her actual development in Korra.

Here are my takes on this controversy-

Zuko acted so aggressively that the Earth Kingdom has the right to call him out. ' Prince Zuko, take it easy; you sound like your father.' I agree with the Earth Kingdom because they're still traumatized of displacment that Zuko should've acted more chill with them.

Zuko acted too trigger-happy, so he ignored the Earth Kingdom citizens. I agree with the Earth Kingdom people's plea; Zuko needs to chill.

As someone who understands Zen deeply, I relate to the Earth Kingdom in this comic because they're concerned about Zuko's lack of empathy. They're sidelined in favor of the melting pot without addressing their trauma.

Ignoring the lore that Fire Nation colonies are exploitative by writing Yu Dao as this ''deep'' theme sanitizes imperialism- look what happened to Hawaii.

No is not that deep; you can't hammer the message of coexistence without addressing and reconciling the deep trauma that the Earth Kingdom suffered. Even the Fire Nation destroyed their environment of all things, and they expect us to see this utopia as a happy ending.

In Zen POV, this comic is an insult to what the Earth Kingdom represents.

-Disrespectful to neutral jing and mindfulness because Earth Kingdom people wanted to hear the earth since they're deeply connected- where the idea of Earthbending comes from. Zuko acted like a bully when they were telling him to calm down.

-Rejects the natural order by letting Wu Dao be painted as this utopia by reckoning the atrocities of the Fire Nation. Earth Kingdom expects people to be in harmony with all things, like on Zen.

-Zen encourages empathy and understanding outside one's comfort zone to see the bigger picture about life- the idea of oneness. Earth Kingdom people wanted a reconciliation of their stolen land to heal, but it gets pushed aside by the plot/writing.

Reason: a casual audience sees it as a family-friendly version of the Avatar sequels (Avatar: The Way of water/fire and Ash). Both franchise sequels deal with strong family ties, nature preservation, and amazing creature spec-evo.

-Shrek 2 and Madagascar 2 were so close in the 2000s.

-My #1 most Hyped film in the remaining 2020s til Horizon adaptation of games gets a release, Vizipop's Prehistoria gets a release date, and Rio 3 gets a release date.

Zoe, the annual migration of Southern Iguanas that the nomadic, slasher-riding Mapuche people deeply revered. They are actually titanosaurs like Argentinosaurus; they get their name from the sails they possess. They migrate from Tierra del Fuego to the lush Pantanal.'

'On the edge of the Pantanal, the successors to sea lizards of the distant past- swamp crawlers. 20-ft slow-moving lizards ambush fragile hatchlings. They occasionally go on land, which is hence the name swamp crawlers. Their metabolism is slow enough not to threaten local migrating Mapuche and Guarani communities who thrive in the Pantanal.'

When Jaribu Marsh-beaks (Limnorhynchus) fly past, we spotted the Mapuche's finest Velanosaurus- prickly tegu; they raised them similar to dogs. They have evolved to act like troodons of the distant past. As guard dogs, they protect our alpacas from poachers funded by pfeonix corp. There's a blood-sucking subspecies that we have decided to find out what causing to lick blood; it could be descended from feral prickly terriers.' (Terriers is a cute nickname since I wanted them to be like a fox terrier)

'Ludroth- other species of tegu that thrives near shores from the coast. They act more like seals despite their gator-like appearance. These tegus are ruled by the beach master.'

Very cute elephant tho. But I wonder why it has horns, a frill, and a stubby tail.

I know of other animals that resemble Zakru besides elephants: Triceratops and Pentaceratops. More so in Pentaceratops because it has five horns.

I wonder if they were going for an adorable interpretation of triceratops/ chasmoceratops befor shifted to cute elephants

Most of the "hate" for WB's upcoming slate is directed at Hunt for Gollum and Matrix 5, or at the idea of milking both WB's finest masterpieces. Ditto with Harry Potter TV that shouldn't exist.

But in reality, I see a hopeful future for these reasons

Deinonychus or Archeraptor (she's in hell): she's not your average zoo pet raptor from a greedy investor.

She's fierce and willing to look after herself, so she gives emotional support to others in need. Moxxie has to support her in return for Millie's helping him and being there with him
