How is the g2 gen 2 outperforming the 8 gen 2 by 30+ percent here?
So I watched this video and it was interesting because they had real numbers and testing on the two chips. Now it isn't anything emulation related just native android apps but I was surprised to see the G2 gen 2 being 30-100 percent faster in these gpu limited scenarios.
To me it makes no sense because in synthetics the 8 gen 2 a bit faster than the g2. And I know synthetics are not that accurate but they still provide a good idea so I would expect them to be around equal at best in the gpu department but clearly in native android apps this isn't the case. On paper the 8 gen 2 literally has double the shader units although they are clocked a bit higher on the g2.
looking at the die sizes the 8 gen 2 appears to be around 35 percent larger and built on the same node.
I wonder if it is due to just an optimization difference?
