Pushing past my fear to reclaim my fluent German and learning Italian from scratch! Taking free EU courses & pedagogy before uni, AMA!🤔✍️🏻

Hi everyone!

Years ago, I spoke German fluently. Then I stepped away to build my Spanish entirely from scratch and now that I speak Spanish fluently, it's finally time to reclaim the language that held my heart first! After a long break where I only maintained vocabulary, I’m pushing past my hesitation and diving back into structured, teacher-led courses to get that German fluency back. On top of that, I’m taking another leap of faith and starting Italian completely from scratch.

I’m doing all of this through a free EU initiative that offers teacher-led courses with recognized certificates across 30+ languages, completely free without needing to enroll in a formal institute. Since my dream is to become a Modern Foreign Language teacher, I’m also taking education/pedagogy modules to build up my teaching toolkit. I have one full month before my university year starts again, and I'm using every single day to push through my limits, stay resilient, and immerse myself in what I truly love.

If you’ve ever put a fluent language on hold to master a new one, or if you just want to talk all things languages, AMA or dm me about:

• How I found the resilience and courage to reclaim a language I used to speak fluently

• The heart and passion behind my journey to becoming an MFL teacher

• How I’m mentally prepping to juggle two languages and pedagogy at once

• Swapping study routines, motivation tricks, or just sharing your own language journey!💬

EI'm known to resemble a "colourful" butterfly in my friend group, is this dress too much?

For a lil' bit of context: I received this nightly dress four years ago for one of my Romanian Name Days (also known as Onomastică in Romania) and it was made for me, based on my favourite colour list: blue, green, orange and purple with a touch of gold to make it feel like a special nightly kind of dress. I don't wear it too often but I brought it out with me to wear on one of the nights on my vacation, with white sandals that have a lil' black on them since I do not wanna wear sports shoes when it's this warm outside.

I sometimes feel it's a lil' much and that the butterfly effect maybe doesn't come through throughly. So, is this a lil' much or is it simply stunning with this mix of colours?

22F Looking for a different style of conversation, so tell me privately: What’s the most random thought sitting in your notes app right now? Let's talk!✍️🏻

I’m sitting outside soaking in the sun and looking for some real reading. Copy-paste that one draft sitting in your phone: the unhinged rant, the quiet memory, the unsent text, or the random 2 AM life reflection.

I'm not looking for any introduction, just a safe space to unload a long thought while I sit back and read through them all today, to try a different style of conversation. Please answer in dms, it's only our conversation not everyone else's. (I will not be replying to messages that are just to spark a conversation with just a few lines, so avoid sending them.)

If you'd like to try this out too, go on: I feel like it'd be quite interesting to give it a shot.

Beach, iced coffee, Oscar Wilde, and a hot take I’ll probably get hate for: modern book slang is stripping the magic out of reading. AMA!

Hi everyone! I’m lying on the beach right now, sipping an iced coffee, reading The Picture of Dorian Gray, and I can’t stop thinking about this.

I know I might get some bookish hate on here or even lose followers, but this new direction in the book community makes me feel like the traditional way of experiencing books is super underrated now.

Reading Wilde’s dark but classic gothic fiction novel alongside everything I see online lately really made it hit me. We used to just get lost in a story, but now everything is packaged around tropes, DNF, slow burn, spice level, morally grey characters, and sprayed or printed edges. (I have two books with sprayed edges and even though I read them both, for my colourblindness this is purely awful.) I feel that breaking books down like that feels like it strips all the magic out of simply enjoying a story.

Anyway, I’m on vacation, enjoying the sun, and fully in the mood to talk about it but in case you agree with me and would like to talk more, dm me. Ask me anything!

PS: I'm adding this here, because I truly wanna say something about this opinion, maybe spark a conversation and I just need to take it off my mind, somehow. If you won't agree with me, please don't hate on this.

22F Future MFL Teacher OFFERING: Romanian🇷🇴 (Native) & Spanish (Advanced) for Beginners🇪🇸 | SEEKING: A1 German

Hi, everyone!🤗

I’m currently in my third year studying Applied Modern Languages in Romania (majoring in English and Spanish), and my absolute dream is to become a Foreign Language Teacher. Since language learning and pedagogy are my biggest passions, I’d love to help you learn Romanian (my native language) or Spanish from a beginner level!

Whether you’re starting from absolute scratch or trying to form your first real sentences, I’m here to help you break down concepts, share cool cultural nuances, and build your confidence so we can actually chat and practice together in Romanian or Spanish.

To show you how much I love this journey: I’m also starting German and Italian from scratch this September, so I completely relate to the excitement and \*chaos\* of being a beginner!

A quick note on what I’m looking for:

Beyond language learning, I really want to build, long-term bonds. I’m a huge fan of long, detailed messages, deep late-night thoughts on life, talking about literature, and sharing little moments of our daily routines.

Looking forward to teaching you!✍️🏻

22F Romanian vacationing in Turkey: Craving deep, long-term chat buddies! Let’s give this a shot, shall we?🏖️✨

Hi, lovely people!🤍

I’m taking a slow, quiet week in Turkey right now, mostly just watching the water, sipping turkish coffee, and finally catching my breath after a really long, exhausting year. Sitting here with all this free time has made me realize how much I miss having genuine and lovely connections with people who don't like superficial bonds, but something real.

I’d love to find a few kind souls to build a lasting friendship with! Just a small request: please avoid the one-line openers, I'm tired of how many I've received throughout time. I’m really hoping to meet people who enjoy sharing actual thoughts, rambling about life, and opening up naturally.

If this sounds like your kind of vibe, send me a little piece of your world. Tell me about a memory that always makes you smile, a book that stayed with you long after you finished it 📖, a hidden spot you love escaping to 🗺️, or just what’s been on your mind lately.

To kick things off, as our private conversation starter: How are you spending these last few weeks of summer?☀️

Celebrating one of my Romanian Name Day today & leaving for vacation! Double the Fun! Celebrate with me and possibly gain a new friend!🥳🥹

Hey everyone!🤗

In Romania, today is Sfânta Maria, which is my Name Day (some romanians celebrate it, others not but I do because I'm honoring my last grandma that passed away a year ago) and honestly, I celebrate it just as big as my actual yearly special day! To make it even better, I'm officially kicking off my summer vacation today!☕🥹 Feeling super grateful, happy, and excited for a much-needed break. Dropping in to share a quick smile with you all: hope everyone is having an amazing week!

I want to make this vacation trip unforgettable and connect with some genuinely lovely people along the way!🩷✨ My inbox is going to stay open all week while I’m away, and I’d love to fill it with inspiring stories and thoughtful conversations.

Since I'll be out exploring, I won't have time to respond to simple "hey" or "what's up" messages, so please skip the one-liners and send me something with a bit of thought behind it! Drop into my inbox with a cozy paragraph: tell me about a hidden gem travel spot you love, share a sweet memory or a good book recommendation, or tell me a story. Give me something fun to read, and I’ll send you a long, thoughtful message back. DMs are wide open all week, I can't wait to read what you write!🔆✈️🥹

PS: I'll be replying once I arrive probably to my destination, as i am still in the airport waiting to leave. My question of the day for you today, as a private conversation starter is: How are you celebrating the last weeks of summer before the new year begins?

Getting back into German after almost forgetting it due to many years of not practicing it: this feels special! Getting back on track and I'm so proud!🥹🥹

Good evening, everyone!

Years ago German really meant a lot to me. It was the language I kept thinking about and practicing just for fun in my free time. I liked how it felt when the words started coming easier, and it was something I genuinely enjoyed. Then life got busy with school, stress and the usual excuses, and I stopped completely. The books sat on the shelf collecting dust, I started forgetting more and more words, and I honestly worried I was about to lose something that used to matter a lot to me.

I kept telling myself I’d get back to it “soon,” but months turned into longer than I want to admit. Every time I saw those old notes or textbooks I felt a bit sad and nostalgic about letting it go.

A while ago I finally decided to start again: not with a big plan of achieving a language level, just a simple routine each day for 2 hours. I just opened my notes, started reviewving vocabulary, practicing writing sentences, reading and speaking them out loud, and kept going even when it felt awkward and slow. Some days it’s still messy and I forget basic stuff, but the language is coming back little by little and it feels so good.

I’m honestly really happy to be back with it. This time I’m taking it more seriously because I don’t want to forget it again. It used to be incredibly special to me and I’m glad I get to keep that feeling going.

By next year I want to be able to have real conversations at a solid beginner-to-intermediate level. Actual back-and-forth where I can understand what the other person is saying and answer without freezing when it would be my turn to speak or actually state an opinion on a particular topic. They're huge steps but I'm ready to get back to a language I've loved and spoken fluently with confidence and happiness that I've got this!

It feels really good to be reconnecting with something I loved and almost let slip away. If you’ve ever stopped something you cared about and then got back into it, you probably know how nice this feels.❤️🥹

22F from Romania | A huge romanian introvert girlie seeking a special long-term friendship to make this August unforgettable. I can't wait to get to know you!🐞

Good afternoon, lovely people!🌸

August is a really special month for me, so with these last weeks of summer here, I wanted to stop by again. I had a feeling my last message didn't quite make its way to the right people: those who are genuinely looking to build a connection and enjoy the beauty long-term friendships.

My name is Mara (you can call me M, Little M, or Merry!). I’m 22 and studying to become a foreign language teacher, focusing on English and Spanish (with a huge soft spot for Spanish!). Right now, I’m taking an extra year to finish my degree at my own pace: a gentle reminder that life isn't a race. I’m also getting ready for a vacation abroad soon and celebrating my name day this month, so it feels like a really lovely time for fresh starts.

I’m hoping to connect with warm, like-minded people (preferably around 20–27) who enjoy building real friendships naturally and without any rush.

Reach out if you...

𓂃✍︎ Prefer writing in paragraphs: You actually enjoy sending longer, thoughtful messages, sharing your days, and take your time in responding.

𓂃✍︎ Have quiet, creative hobbies: You enjoy things like drawing, doodling in notebook margins, sewing, doing logic puzzles, or diamond painting.

𓂃✍︎ Enjoy simple, peaceful activities: You like nature walks, trying out cozy coffee spots, reading classic literature or horror, or just having low-key downtime.

𓂃✍︎ Like talking about human nature: You enjoy topics like psychology, pedagogy, languages, or discussing how people think, learn, and grow.

A lil side note about me: I’ve worn hearing aids since I was four and I’m colorblind, which I think just makes me pay extra attention to small details and how people feel!

If I described you and it touched you soulfully, I'd love if you can reach out to me. If you had before and I didn't get back to you, message me again. 🫶🏻🥹

August hits differently when it’s my Name Day month and i am so excited for it, since summer ain't really my favourite season!🎉🥹

I’m usually not a summer fan at all, but August in Romania hits differently for me because it’s my Name Day month.

A lil' background context: Here, in Romania a Name Day is basically treated like a second birthday. You get all the texts, treats, and celebrations just for sharing a name with a date on the calendar.

The fun part? I actually have two names, which means two separate name days this month alone: Mary/Maria on August 15th and Alexandra on August 30th. Having double celebrations in two weeks feels like triple the fun, after my birthday every year. Having two names definitely comes with some double the lore, and a story of its own.

If you’re curious about other info on Name Days here, what makes them so special or anything else that pops into your mind about it, ask away!

[22/F] First time being a digital email pen pal, so I'm looking for someone who still believes in the art of long letters through email. Wanna be my pen pal?

Have you ever noticed how writing about a memory makes it feel alive all over again?

I’m Mara, a 22 year old romanian girlie, trying out digital penpalling for the very first time! For me, writing isn't solely based on sending texts back and forth: it’s how I process the world, capture pensive moments, and paint pictures with words. I naturally pour my whole heart into writing long, expressive messages, and I’d love to find a fellow writer around my age (22–27) who'd like to try this out with me.🥹✉️

A quick glimpse into my corner of the world: I’m an aspiring language teacher (MFL in English & Spanish, both being spoken fluently ), a huge introvert, and someone who loves classic books, horror, cross-stitching, and finding cozy coffee shops in my hometown.

This is me in a nutshell so if you'd like to try this experience with me, I'd love to get to know you and have you as my pen pal!🖋📝

Probably my favourite handwriting I've ever had in years! What's y'alls opinion on it?

For a lil' context: I was in my first year of uni during an English course called Structure of the English Language (I'm studying MFL in English and Spanish, still studying it currently, being in my third and final year of this bachelor's degree) and the exercise task was for us to translate some parts of a new's article in English to Romanian. (I'm a Romanian girl, studying in Romania and the translation is in Romanian, so I wanted to clarify that.)

22F, from Romania: After a long break on Reddit, I'm back continuing my friendship search of connections that feel like home away from home! If this feels like you, let's connect!

Hi everyone! I’m Mara, though you can call me M, Little M, or Merry if that feels nicer. I’m a 22F from Romania, back on Reddit after a long break and hoping to meet a few genuinely kind people who enjoy friendships that grow slowly and eventually feel a little like home away from home.

I’m looking for people around my age (22–25) who love deep conversations, long thoughtful messages, and the kind of connection where you learn each other’s rhythms, quirks, and inner worlds over time. If you’re someone who enjoys writing, reflecting, or simply being present in a conversation, we’ll get along beautifully.

A little about me: I’m an aspiring English & Spanish teacher, and I spent 12 years volunteering at an after‑school program, the kind of place where you learn patience, gentleness, and how much small kindnesses matter. I’m a quiet, empathetic introvert with a soft spot for people who feel things deeply. I’ve worn hearing aids since I was four and I’m colorblind, which somehow makes me extra attentive to details, emotions, and the tiny things that others might overlook.

Right now I’m taking an extra year to finish my third year of uni properly. It’s been a comforting reminder that life doesn’t have to be a race: you can move at your own pace and still get exactly where you’re meant to be.

In my free time I love reading classics and horror, sewing, diamond painting, board games, logic puzzles, and exploring cozy coffee spots. I speak Romanian, English, and Spanish fluently, and I’m slowly learning German and Italian in my quiet moments. If you enjoy talking about languages, teaching, books, or anything creative, I’ll happily match your enthusiasm.

An icebreaker question to get us started: If your inner world were a season, which one would it be? I’m definitely a spring girl becuase there’s something magical about watching everything wake up, soften, and bloom again. I love people who carry that same kind of warmth. Bonus: If you’re a spring person too, you’re absolutely my type of person.

If you resonate with anything I've written above and you get taht gut feeling of "Hey, I wanna get to know her!" feel free to say hi. I’d really love to meet some kind people who want to build something a beautiful and meaningful friendship bond together.

Everyone always called me a "social butterfly," but during these three university years, I made my first REAL best friends!

Growing up, everyone always assumed I was so popular and had it all together socially. People constantly labeled me a "social butterfly," but the truth behind that mask was...I felt so profoundly lonely inside. I was always surrounded by people, yet I never actually had real best friends who truly knew me, chose me, or cared about the person underneath.

Coming to university changed everything for me. Over these past three years, even as I’m still working my way through uni and navigating all the ups and downs, I miraculously found my people, my three uni besties. I finally made genuine, true best friends who became my absolute world and safe haven.

Looking back at how far I’ve come throughout these three years, I’m just so overwhelmed with gratitude and emotion. Younger me spent so many nights feeling completely invisible, silently crying and wondering if she’d ever find where she belonged. I am just so, so proud of myself for holding on, because she finally made it to the other side and found a love and friendship she only ever dreamed of.🤍🥺

Life has been heavy for me this year and I'm feeling kind this week so I'm offering a safe, welcoming space for whomever needs it. You're not alone!🤍🫂

Hey everyone!

I’m Mara, 22, studying English and Spanish with plans to start my master’s in pedagogy to become a teacher. Life took a few heavy, unexpected turns for me academically recently, so I’m stepping back to slow down, reset, and finish things at my own pace, which has been a huge lesson in self-compassion. It's a new year for me, in order to learn more and fix my mistakes. I'll be be finishing uni and heading on to a master's degree so I'm excited but nervous!

When I'm taking time for myself, I find comfort in classic literature, horror stories, sewing, cooking, board games with friends, and learning German and Italian, at a beginner level.

Because life can get so overwhelming, I know how rare and healing it is to just have a wholesome non-judgmental space to share what’s on your mind: no pressure, no small talk, and no need to pretend everything is fine. If you need a quiet corner today, send me a DM with a heart emoji and a little message depending on what kind of space you need:

❤️ tell me about a current passion (a book, project, or hobby keeping you sane)

💜 describe your ideal, perfectly calm day

💙 tell me about something weighing on you. (if you're going through a rough patch and just need a safe place to vent)

🤍 share one small, sweet detail from your week

You don't have to worry about writing a lot or unloading the weight you carry, I wanna be here the way I wanted others to be for me this year but weren't as much: write as little or as much as you need.

Take care of yourself today, and my DMs are open whenever you're ready!🫂

Sending a lil' love your way,

M
