I'm after some advice please.

I am looking at getting the Boardman URB 8.9 as a daily commuter (8 miles each way) as a relatively low maintenance all weather bike.

Can anyone please recommend a rear rack and some full mudguards (and the widest tyres that will fit comfortably)?

I have looked as some SKS Bluemels but not sure what size will fit.

Our current family computer is an intel iMac with a 2TB Fusion Drive which is about 1.8TB full, with four user accounts

What is the best solution to replace it with a silicon (M series) Mac?

A new iMac with 2TB storage seems to be ridiculously expensive these days and a similar specced Mac Mini without a monitor is way more expensive than my current iMac was (even allowing for inflation).

What would be the most economical way to replace what I have now?

Is it better to get an Apple refurbished iMac with 256GB storage and an external SSD for users home folder (documents, photos, music, videos etc) or would a Mac mini and external SSD be better/cheaper even with a monitored factored in?.

I just want something affordable and easy to setup 👀

I have a pension from when I opted out of SERPS in the late 1980's.

At the time I didn't have an occupational pension so as far as I know, it is just sitting there.

Now I am 55 I understand I can draw a lump sum of up to 25% tax free.

If I do that, do I have to also start taking a weekly/monthly pension payment, or can I leave the rest there and start to take the payments at a later date?

Can anyone explain in simple terms what OCLP is, how it works and are there any pitfalls in using it on My 2015 iMac?

I can’t afford a new (or even used) iMac/Mac Mini at the moment as they are just so much more expensive than a year or two ago.

UK user here.

Have just created a new user login for my son on the family intel iMac (2015).

He can't login with his Apple ID to sync his contacts, calendar etc.

I have read somewhere that the iMac is too old as it runs Mac OS 12.7.6 Monterrey.

The computer still works fine for our needs and the rest of the family has no problem using their Apple ID's.

Any ideas/workarounds?

Just thinking out loud here really.

When I retire, I will have the state pension, a pension from when I opted out of SERPS and an occupational pension.

As the state pension is due to increase to above the basic rate of tax threshold, how is the tax collected and will I pay it on all three pensions or will the total tax be taken from one of them?

I have recently bought a new iPad Air M3 which seems to charge much slower than my previous iPad Air 4th gen, using my 20 watt Anker Nano USB C charger.

I also have an iPhone 15 plus. If I get a higher rated charger (45 or 60 watts, or can I go higher?) will it be ok to use with my iPhone?

I would like one charger for both devices but don’t want to damage them.

For a few months, every time I log into my Apple account on the website (iOS apps seem to be ok as they don't log you out automatically), it won't accept my password. I have to repeatedly reset my password which works for the one or two logins but the goes back to not accepting it. The password is definitely correct when I enter it.

Any ideas before I give up completely and move away from Apple 🥺

My 2015 iMac's Magic Keyboard is dying 🥺

Can anyone recommend a native Bluetooth replacement (preferably with a numeric keypad as well)?

The current Apple keyboards don't support OS 12 Monterrey and the Logitech ones I have looked at are not native Bluetooth and need a USB dongle, which I don't want (have no spare USB port on iMac).

Any suggestions gratefully received.

I have a 2015 iMac running Monterrey OS with original Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad. Recently it occasionally has a mind of its own.

The cursor will suddenly jump about between apps as if a ghost is using it.

I have restarted, un paired and re paired the Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad.

I don't thinks it's malware (but never say never).

Is there a preference file I should delete or a cache file that needs clearing?

Would resetting the PRAM help?

Apologies for my ignorance.

My daughter is buying a used car from a dealership.

She currently has a provisional licence, but hopes to pass her test in a few weeks (second attempt).

I have a full licence and will be driving the car home for her and it will be parked off road on our private driveway, until she passes or we insure it for her to continue learning in.

What is the best way to tax and insure it for one day just to get it home legally? I assume it doesn't need to be taxed once it is off road on our property.

Once on our property, we can sort out any future tax and insurance.

I'm currently trying to help my 17yr old (soon to be 18) setup their own Apple iCloud account on a brand new iPad (in the UK)

Can't seem to create one without having a family account, which I don't have and don't want as we don't use any of the paid for services. I have my own singular Apple account.

I thought that anyone over 13 could have an Apple account so don't understand why I can't do it.

The UK's ever draconian government hasn't yet put restrictions on children having these sorts of accounts that I know of (it's coming I'm sure).

Any suggestions on how to sort this out? They have a new iPad as a present for getting through A level exams and can't seem to use it 😢

With the UK governments increasing surveillance of its citizens online activity, will Apple's iCloud Private Relay come under any future ban on VPN's or is it something different?

Is there any reason I cannot transfer my mobile number to a new SIM and carry on using it in a new phone?

Longtime lurker but am confused by recommendations on here.

We mostly have family BBQ's (no low and slow joint smoking/cooking) and have been disillusioned with the average cheap easy/quick light charcoal. It seems to burn hot (sometimes too hot) but doesn't last very long.

Any recommendations for DIY stores/garden centre/supermarket briquettes (or lumpwood) that will last for at least 2 hours for a family BBQ with mainly burgers, sausages, drumsticks, corn cobs etc?
