Would you consider a no contact order
I briefly dated this man two years ago. I ceased contact and he continued to send me unhinged messages for two years. They would bounced from idealizing me to hating me and making threats. Two years ago he blackmailed me into agreeing to pay him money back that he spent on me while we were dating so I was making small payments to him monthly. I didn’t block his number because of this and because if I did he would spoof numbers and call my work phone. It caused me to have anxiety about answering numbers I didn’t recognize. I work in sales and must answer my work phone. I feared being sued since I agreed to pay him money during his threats.
The calls and texts never ended. He’d call and leave voice mails and texts almost daily for two years. I wanted to try a different route and tried to be friendly to him to deescalate which I now realize was stupid on my part. I hoped maybe if I didn’t ignore he would accept a “how are you” once a month or some shit but that didn’t happen. I was naive and ignorant to think it would. so I have restated the no contact. He has been threatening to come where I live and to sue me for money he spent on me while dating.
These texts are from the past 24 hours. He’s called me 30 times and has been leaving long voicemails. He’s also calling my work phone and sending texts there. I don’t want to be controlled by him anymore.
My options:
-block him and block all spoofed numbers he uses. This option would involve dealing with spoofed numbers to my work phone and worrying whether each call is him.
-Try to get a no contact order/restraining order. I’m not sure I have enough to get that since I made the mistake of trying to be friendly the past month.
I realized I have handled this poorly. I am trying to handle it the best way moving forward but am not sure the best route to deescalate and remain safe.
Edit:He’s sent a a new message establishing that we are now enemies.
Also I haven’t paid him in a month or so so that has stopped and won’t resume unless I am told by a court that I need to.
