A LOT of you requested I put my game Ski-E-O! Ski Resort Tycoon up on GeForce Now. Thanks to the Nvidia team, it's now up there!

Hey everyone! This year, I've been working on a Ski Resort Tycoon game called Ski-E-O.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4493130/SkiEO_Ski_Resort_Tycoon/

It's a ski resort management game where you build on real-world mountains from across the US (other mountains in the world to come later!).
You can draw runs, place buildings such as cocoa stands, bars, and lodges, and make your dream resort for thousands of skiers.

The mountains are built from 1-meter accurate LiDAR data, so they're accurate to the meter!

When I launched the demo, I posted on r/pcgaming and r/macgaming, and several people requested that I put the game up on GeForce Now.

Well, thanks to the support of the Nvidia team, it's up!

I'd love any feedback to how the title plays or looks.

Thank you all so so much for playing. This is our debut indie title, and we're really hoping to make it a success.

I'm making a ski game where you built ski resorts on real world mountains, and I'd love to know if this mountain is recognizable

Hey everyone! I'm making a game called Ski-E-O! It's a tycoon game where you build ski resorts on real-world mountains. I use real US 1-meter LiDAR data to build the mountains, and then simulate realistic weather on each of the mountains.

EDIT: Just to avoid confusion, LiDAR is not AI. It's a mapping where planes fly over and data.

Here's an east-coast mountain! I'd love to know if it's capturing the right vibe. I haven't skied this resort, so I might have gotten some details wrong!

And weather wise.. it is often just rainy/foggy. Is that expected??

If you want to check out more, I'd love for you to play the demo! Unfortunately, the only mountain in the demo is in Tahoe (my local mountain). But I'd love for you to play it anyways!

I'm building my Ski Resort Tycoon game, Ski-E-O, to run smoothly on Steam Deck with thousands of guests.

Hi everyone! I'm working on a game right now called Ski-E-O! Ski Resort Tycoon.

It's a Ski Resort management game where you run ski resorts on real mountains from around the world, built from 1-meter LiDAR data, so it's accurate to the meter. It also has seasons and real weather for each area.

I often feel like tycoon/management games like this really miss the mark when it comes to controller ports, or getting things to run on platforms like Steam Deck. I refuse to lower guest counts, or give Steam Deck players a lower-end experience. It should feel just as great to play this game on Steam Deck as it would on any other platform.

I'm not quite there yet, but I would love this community's feedback on what has worked for similar titles on Steam Deck, for control schemes, performance, visuals, etc.

Thank you!

My upcoming Ski Resort game uses real USGS 1-meter LiDAR data to build out the maps

I've been working on a ski resort tycoon game this year where you build ski resorts on real-world mountains. I wanted it to be accurate, so I pull from 1-meter liDAR data where available, and fill in the rest with 10 meter.

I use it to build a heightmap, then import it into UE5 for the landscape system.

Then, I do some custom logic to build the terrain shaders for rock, scree, grass, forest, and more, to make it feel right.

Super cool system IMO!

For snow nerds - I built a Ski Tycoon game with real mountains and real weather. 15 mountains, 5 different biomes.

I'm a bit of a snow nerd myself (big fan of opensnow), so this year, I decided to build a Ski Tycoon game where there's real weather and real mountains.

Each of the mountains is built from real world 1-meter LiDAR data, which means it's accurate down to specific ridges and chutes.

I then built a custom dynamic weather system that simulates the weather from each biome. Colorado gets dependable but cold snow, Tahoe gets big dumps then nothing, and the east is cold but requires snowmaking.

I'd love for people here to check it out and let me know how the snow feels and looks.

After Meta shut down our studio (Armature) earlier this year, I decided to build the cozy, technically deep ski resort tycoon game I always wanted to play, Ski-E-O! Ski Resort Tycoon.

Hello! I'm Jesse, the creator behind Ski E O! Ski Resort Tycoon.

Earlier this year, the company I worked at for nearly 13 years (Armature, the developers behind Resident Evil 4 VR) was closed down by Meta. My coworkers and I lost our jobs, but instead of entering one of the worst job markets in recent history, I decided to break off on my own.

Ski E O! is a cozy Ski Resort Tycoon game inspired by RollerCoaster Tycoon and other early PC classics. While it looks cute and silly on the surface, there's a massive, deeply optimized management game running underneath.

I got tired of simulation games that chug when your park gets big, so I built a highly optimized system (using custom C++ flow fields) to manage up to 15,000 independent guests without tanking your framerate.

Every map is built from real-world 1-meter LiDAR data that I pull directly into heightmaps. On top of that, there's a dynamic weather system that accurately simulates regional climates:

  • The East: Cold and icy; snowmaking runs the show.
  • Utah: Light, consistent powder, the forgiving one.
  • The Sierras: Giant blizzards, then long dry spells.
  • Colorado Rockies: Dependable snow, brutal cold.
  • Pacific Northwest: Constant heavy snow, endless grooming.

This all runs on a GPU-simulated snowpack. Down to the exact meter, the game tracks the temperature, quality, and centimeter-depth of the snow on your mountain.

I'd love for this community to check out the demo and let me know what you think of the economic balance and underlying systems!

I just released the demo and trailer for my cozy ski resort tycoon, Ski-E-O!

Hi there :)

I'm Jesse, the developer of Ski-E-O! Ski Resort Tycoon.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4493130/SkiEO_Ski_Resort_Tycoon/

After being laid off from Meta earlier this year, I decided to make a Ski Resort tycoon game, influenced by my love of skiing and playing RCT as a kid.

In Ski-E-O, you can build ski resorts on real mountains, paint trails straight onto the terrain, place lifts, and build the lodges, restaurants and après bars that keep thousands of skiers warm, fed, and happy.

I LOVE skiing and tycoon games, and felt like it was a perfect match with cozy vibes; watching the snow fall down, seeing your guests sit by the fire and drink cocoa, and watching a run slightly get groomed for the morning skiers.

I think this community would really enjoy the lo-fi music and chill vibes, and the feeling of watching tons of cute little skiers enjoy the mountain.

Thank you all for checking it out! The demo is available now!

I just released the demo and trailer for my indie game Ski-E-O! Ski Resort Tycoon

Hello there!

Earlier this year, the company I worked at for nearly 13 years, Armature (developer of Resident Evil 4 VR) was closed down by Meta. I, and all of my coworkers lost our jobs.

Instead of joining this horrendous job market, my wife convinced me to finally follow my childhood dream of making my own indie game, and well, here we are!

Ski-E-O! is a cozy Ski Resort Tycoon game inspired by Roller Coaster Tycoon and other early tycoon titles. I wanted to strike a balance between relaxing, cozy gameplay, and deep management simulation.

You start with a few buildings and around 100 guests, and as you level up, you can build a legendary resort with hundreds of buildings and thousands of skiers.

I'd love the feedback of this community.

I just created a video game about running Ski Resorts on real mountains. Mt. Judah (Sugar Bowl) is the starter mountain!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4493130/SkiEO_Ski_Resort_Tycoon/

I'm a game developer making a game called Ski-E-O! I live in the bay area and ski Sugar Bowl all the time, so I decided to make it the starter mountain in my game :). Palisades is also there!

I use actual 1-meter LiDAR data to map out the actual map, and TONS of effort in getting it to look/feel just right.

And, it simulates real weather, so just like Tahoe.. you get big dumps and then huge periods of no snow.
I think I should add the super el nino coming later this year..

We released the Ski-E-O! Ski Resort Tycoon demo!

Today, I launched the first public demo of Ski-E-O! Ski Resort Tycoon.
https://fallingdamage.itch.io/ski-e-o

Ski-E-O is a cozy ski tycoon game where you can build and run a ski resort on real-world mountains. You can watch thousands of skiers eat, ski, and party on the ski resort of your dreams.

I was laid off from Armature Studio as part of the meta layoffs in January of this year, and I decided to follow my dream of making my own indie game. It's been such as joy to make this game, and it's surreal to finally launch the first public demo.

I can't wait to see the feedback from everyone here.

Thank you all,
Jesse
